At some point I think I will do something with a 1916-1919 portrait (which are the ones with the best beard detail).

How about a 1908-VDB Matte proof (without the VDB on the shoulder)

  • MsMorrisineMsMorrisine Posts: 38,569 ✭✭✭✭✭

    Hmm matte proof

Are these already struck to matte proof quality?

Could be interesting if he toned these as well.

The dies would need to be sandblasted.

I'm still wondering what a colorfully toned coin before striking would look like post striking. of course it'd have to be gem bu otherwise.

Has anyone received shipping notice on the latest rounds of purchases? I bought some cents and a few other things awhile back, but haven't had an update yet.

I wrote Daniel with my concern about my order with an email on Tuesday (9-5-2017),and this was his reply this morning:

    Hello Jim,

I was away for a couple weeks and now my shipping helper is on vacation.
But I will get this shipped within the next day or two.

    Thanks,
    Daniel Carr

Page 3!?!?!?!!! Let's remedy this travesty with some cool Long Beach Newps I got in a partial trade! :)

    The awesome 4oz Pirate Cob...

And a new .999 silver So-Called Dollar medal. The reverse die is a Daniel Carr and the obverse die he used was the actual US Mint die from the 1909 Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition engraved by George T. Morgan. Neat piece. And check out all the heavy polishing lines on that sucker! Wonder what the story is on why the die was so abraded...

Here's my latest set of Dan Carr pieces. In addition to the silver and copper ones, I picked up an antiqued copper and antiqued brass. The copper also looks like it was struck through grease!

There were no "special deals." He brought some cool stuff to Denver and I got what I could afford. As did many others. Wish I could have afforded more though for sure.

anybody else notice the people who are always promoting DC stuff are the ones that wind up with his rare stuff ? and wind up making big bucks on ebay ?

I notice how dedicated and determined they are. Could it be that they really like his stuff ? It's possible, yes ? Could it be they put a lot of time and effort into obtaining pieces ? More attention and effort usually pays off, yes ? Making a small or large profit on Ebay off any item is how a free market works. Promotion of something you love isn't illegal is it ? As long as no fraud is involved. Are you saying buying low and selling high is Un-American or unethical? If you were into Morgans and made a hobby out of buying and selling them on Ebay would you deserve implied unethical behavior accusations ? Maybe you are a little jealous which isn't very becoming.
