Awesome, I was unaware PCGS uses other sources to certify Moonlight Mint, Clark Gruber, Daniel Carr coinage art.

    @TomB said:
The problem with using the sixth edition, which is the most recent edition if I recall correctly, is that it had a publication date of 2011. Therefore, the pieces in question would have had to not only been produced prior to the 2011 publication, but would also have had to have been incorporated into that edition. That excludes from current PCGS certification an enormous number of issues from various sources.

Here is the last update on my stolen DC coins/tokens. I hope everyone will continue to watch the internet or coin shows for these items. One is the only one sold (Brass) and one is a one of two sold (uncleaned 84S).

UPS has spent 12 weeks trying to find the items and now say they are done looking. The employee so far has gotten away with the theft. UPS had no reason to find the items because the payout comes from ANACS and UPS owes nothing. That does not seem right.

Here is a list again but I doubt some will remain in holders.

Your loss still affects me. Many virtually unique items from a one off, unique or one of 4 ish production runs. I am beyond sad & remain curious how this gets rectified. The perfect solution would have been in your hands, they arrived in an opened emptied box a few months ago. I am terrified to send ANY valuables in 2022. NO WAY I will send anything to any slab company till this gets resolved. What good is insurance if its just a word, not really reality.

The hard part is putting a value on items like this. For a while I held out hope that the UPS employees would do the right thing and forward the items on to me. The strange thing is they completely emptied the box. No packaging, no invoice, no box of coins. Someone wanted to remove all identification of the items. My only hope now is that someone sees these and reports it. They have been reported stolen, so who knows. At this point a buyout will come from ANACS. Paul D has been great.

I just started to use the grading companies, and would send 20 coins at a time. This makes not want to send that many at a time ‼️‼️‼️If you’re like me.... I’d rather have the coins, not the money ( especially if it’s Dan’s stuff), I had some really rare Dan Carr pieces the first time I sent anything to the grading company.
I hate to hear what happened to you and hope the coins are returned to you.Too bad the “Secret Service” doesn’t get involved like they do on counterfeit coins........ they find out what happened and where they came from all the way to the end ‼️‼️‼️
Good luck, my brother, and thanks for letting us know what could happen.

65% of my Carr Art came from House of Dan.

Why would I need it authenticated when I never plan to sell ?

If my goodies get daylighted in a dumpster will it make the finders of it all wealthier ?

    Should I care ?

    Why slab Carr Art ?

Fees & stress and mysterious grades granted. I do not care. Its all perfect to me. Its art, coinage art.

I bought me some slabbed Carr Art, but thats how it came.

Slabs are not needed, be your own expert.

Seriuosly counterfeit Carr Art made in china are laughable, why risk your treasures ?

I cannot imagine parting with mine for a guarantee that's not enforced, or really guaranteed by anybody.
I am so happy to add to the art, you all ROCK !

It appears that the “MMXXII” (2022) gold St Gaudens has a much higher relief than either of the “MCMVI” (1906) or the 1907-D gold coins.....hence "ultra high relief". Am I correct?

99.9% sure it wasn't a special cameo strike. Here's the tag that came with it...

I've no idea how many of the 396 PL Morgans (389 high grade) would grade as cameo. But I'm sure some Die Pair 2 don't... there's one on ebay right now (not mine)

IIRC, Dan said that the cameo effect changes (diminishes?) for later strikes. Maybe that's the main reason this '36 Peace PL cameo mintage is limited to 100.

So maybe we'll also see some non-cameo '36 Peace dollars -- almost certainly a Circulated version, and maybe an antiqued? I'd love to have a Matte Peace dollar... my Matte Morgan gets lonely.

Good luck, my brother, and thanks for letting us know what could happen.

I agree that Dan’s pieces are works of art...... and better than what the USMINT is doing, and just plain “ fun” to own‼️‼️👍🎯👍‼️

But, there are a lot of reasons to get his coins graded and slabbed.
It’s been my experience that if you’re buying a proof- like from Dan..... you’ve got a very, very good chance of that piece coming back as as MS70 Deep Cameo‼️And there’s just something special about owning a perfect coin, or as close to perfect as one can beMS69‼️‼️👍👀‼️
Also, if you don’t protect the piece all kinds of things can happen to it, uneven tarnish, staple scratch, and if dropped, no telling what can happen ‼️
Yes, I wish I could carry one around in my pocket for good luck........ but it ain’t very good luck if you loose it, or turn it from a MS70 coin to one of those silver dollars that you can’t tell what the date was‼️‼️
Dan’s got the “Midas touch”, literally........ he can take any metal, and turn it into gold , or actually worth more than gold ‼️‼️‼️
I have seen him do this with my own eyes.....example :If he strikes 500 of one kind in silver, and only strikes 3 examples of the same piece in brass.... I want the brass more than the silver‼️‼️‼️Oh I’m worse than that... I want the silver and brass both‼️‼️👍👍⁉️‼️‼️‼️👍‼️
Dan’s tha man, and no one is even close to him‼️‼️👍👍🎯🎯👀👍👍👍

I bought 9 of them 1964D( the Die pair 2 Morgan’s) not slabbed, and the guy had them in a plastic coin page in the original flips.
I was very happy with the purchase because all were cameo ,and by inserting the flips into the plastic coin page, it made the flips “airtight “ and there was no toning at all , not even at the top of the coin‼️‼️👍🎯👀👍👍

I thought 2009 UHR $20 gold would make awesome planchet as it has pretty collar details but they sell for $2,400 & up. They made over 100k of them

So maybe we'll also see some non-cameo '36 Peace dollars

Mine must have been one of the later ones. Very nice cameo on yours.

I actually like yours better, @robec

Whoa! The owls are $200 now?! Man, I'm priced out of them for sure at this point, as with most "hobby" things now. Maybe now is the time to sell all my Carr items. People are paying crazy money for them. Anyone interested?

His things have done well on the BST.

If I recall, do you have two 1970 Silver Ikes ? I could use one

It depends on the item; I've listed some over the years on the BST and they tend to linger. If you have something that has not been available for a while, then the chances are better that someone on the BST will want it.

Got grades from my January ANACS submission. Have some big rarities going to them at Long Beach too for the next submission.

    .
Nice grades! Was your submission in early January? I'm waiting for my Jan 18th submission.

Shipped it to them on 10 January. Got grades today and will pick up at Long Beach next week, where I drop off another submission. Such madness.

    .
Thanks for posting. I didn't know pickup at the Long Beach Show was an option. A bonus if it eliminates the return shipping charge. Hopefully my coins are ready in time and I can make pickup arrangements.

    Well, in general, show pickup

Here's a very nice MMOH medal from President Dan Carr! The medal and photos are from errors.mostly who has a bunch of Dan's pieces and has been showing off some great photography skills lately.

This one looks like it was struck on a 39mm brass blank. I'd love to have one on a Sacagawea blank. Do any exist?

While not the lowest production numbers (est. 78 minted), the 2015 MMOH overstrikes seem to show up less frequently on the resale market than any other year, except perhaps the 2009's and 2017's (200 & 60 minted respectively).

How about one over a 2013 Nuie Island Dollar?
