I can see it with a 16x loop, its there but I can't get the iPhone to get that close....Defiantly an S. (Unless Dan says he didn't use any s mint hosts, then it is a smashed D!)
From Hounddog's pictures (which are excellent!), it looks that there may have been ?some die wear on the obverse as if you compare Miss Liberty's hair to, say, the Carr 1964 Peace dollar there looks to be less detail & even to earlier 1917 dollars. Still, a beautiful coin, and one I still enjoy very much.
Love that Milled British (1830-1960) Well, just Love coins, period.
I like the slabs you put those in twobitcollector!
I did see the clashed PL Morgan this am- they are cool but I'm saving my money for the Clark Gruber 1.5 Octs., and any more "broken sword" finishes...I gotta choose my battles with Dan's releases. So goes the collector who is on a budget
Dan, it would be cool if you would offer an off the cuff creation, and then put this up on your website at random. Maybe a mintage of 2-3 of whatever...it would be kind of like a lottery for the Carr collectors!

Thank you for that compliment. It is much appreciated.
If you compare the 1921 high relief to the say, any other year Peace dollar, you'll also see a huge difference in Miss Liberty's hair. Completely different die sets. The high relief on this particular coin is absolutely beautiful to say the least. Great job Dan.
YOU DA MAN!!

You do know it is very easy to set up routines that will alert you instantaneously when webpages are updated, right?
I've been looking this 1917 peace dollar over and I must say it is everything I was hoping for and then a whole bunch more. I have never been so impressed with Mr. Carr's work and I have quite a few of his pieces . This one here is absolutely my favorite. The relief is .030 above the surface and it's something to behold. The luster is BOOMING !! Really a special piece.
Great work !!

Is Dan planning to release any additional 1964-D creations before the final mintage cut-off ??? We will have to wait and see...

He would have to create another die as once they were clashed you can't go back.
Hey Cascade Chris ~ did you buy all of them or just that one of Dan's 2016 Hidden Treasures ???? I will be searching for one at the ANA Money Show in Orlando next week ~ wish me luck !

Only 13 were produced and it had a buy limit of only 1 when they were available for like 10mins. If you can find one for sale scoop it up. They will all be in permanent collections soon if they aren't already.
With these real limited editions, if you are going to sell them you would be doing everyone a favor and list an open auction or closed bid auction on the bst. I just had seen that coin go for 750 very quick, I think someone might have done better here!

I can almost see it if I download your pic and blow it up.
You need one of those clip on macro lenses LOL
Probably because the host coin was an S mint and the "S" still shows slightly.
that was a open house over strike only available to attendees at open house he makes different one every year http://www.moonlightmint.com/dc-coin_event_tokens_list.htm
Thanks Dan! I assume the pressure of the press is highest at tap dead center and less at the edges.
Check out Dan's latest 1964-D Morgan ~ Clashed Die Pair 2, PL with 23 done so far...
Here are Dan's close ups of the PL clashed dies! It looks gorgeous.
How often do you see clashed dies on a proof?
Thanks just ordered mine.

Absolutely true, HalfStrike, but you never know what will appear out of Dan's magical workshop !
Rock of the Marne from the 3rd ID
Working from home today so I was here when this little nugget arrived earlier.
perhaps a mint foia to philly re: how they prevent lathe lines on cnc cut dies.....
Perhaps this finish is intentional.
These are not "new" but looks like mintage is only 100. Got mine before they go dark..
I like the little bars pictured above, I purchased 2 when they came out.
Very Nice Looking.

OK, I am officially envious. I somehow did not get this one (buried in work!), Very nice coin there!!!

Absolutely the fact.
This was done by Dan for me at a MM open house striking

I guess a capped die would be hot hot hot
could you tell us which coin you seen go for 750
ok I found it ! but it is even more rare because it was double struck ! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Daniel-Carr-1916-Walking-Liberty-Centennial-Struck-on-US-Silver-Eagle-1-of-13-/182472557980?hash=item2a7c36459c:g:vGoAAOSw4A5Yts~d
never mind, my error
Wow. $750! I was thinking in the $400 +-. That's awesome! Almost makes me want to sell mine. Key word, almost
the one that sold had the reverse doubled
But still...
coin making camp.
