Here's a bit of an odd one. I have a few others but I thought it would be fun to share this one. It is tied with 1 other at PCGS and 1 at NGC with none higher at either service. I think the majority of my coins would only be top pop at one service. Else wise it's a $5 coin haha.
The only gold version PCGS has graded. My submission - bought raw at auction. They also come in silver and copper. Its a denominated medal. Weight is identical to the Italian Kingdom 50 Lire gold coins of the day. If you look close you'll see it's numbered. This is # 220/500.
I don’t feel “top pop” means much for the the majority of graded world coins, since a) there are so many raw examples out there, and b) grading standards have evolved over time on many issues and may be approached differently by different TPGs, so even coins that are graded may not be able to be compared all that well against other graded examples. That being said, this would be difficult to beat.

^ good stuff - if i may ask, a set of 3 coins 1942 shil ms65, florin ms66 & 1/2 cr ms65+ at around 2k, it is a good price?
Way too much in my view. common still and these dates come with great color so that is a factor as well. Outstanding eye appeal should be a minimum requirement.

Rexford is spot on, and couldn't be said more truly. I could not see the denomination on that Italian Red Cross medal, even though the weight is similar to the 50 Lira.
Love that Milled British (1830-1960) Well, just Love coins, period.
Mintage is only one. So it is unique 100 pounds. The hallmark on the upper right is very typical British style, just like the hallmark on the silverware.
1828, Greece, Governor Johannes Capodistrias. One (silver) Phoenix. NGC MS65 PL.
A unique coin in numismatics, the mythological bird Phoenix reborn from its ashes was chosen as the new currency of the newly formed Greek State. It was divided in 100 lepta, in copper,in denominations of 1,5,10 and 20 lepta of which there are hundreds of varieties and new varieties emerge almost every year. Only 12000 silver coins were struck, with silver donated by the churches. It was supposed to be 1/6th of an 8 reales , which was the favorite coin in commerce at the time, but the result was mathematically wrong and the 8 reales was soon to become obsolete around that time.
The plan for multiples of the Phoenix in gold never materialized , due to the lack of precious metal.
Count Capodistrias (who left his illustrious diplomatic career as Foreign Minister of the Czar to come and govern the newly liberated Greece) was murdered in cold blood , close to his residence three years later.
The son of the king of Bavaria was sent by the three major powers (France, England and Russia) to not only take his place, but essentially become the first king of modern Greece. Otto was still underaged when he arrived, so a committee of Bavarians ruled on his behalf. Before arriving in Greece, they had already changed the Phoenix to the new silver drachma, itself divided in 100 lepta, and they had a full set of coins denominated from 1 lepton to a gold 20 drs, struck in Munich upon their arrival.
Greece 1873-A VIP proof 2 drachmai. 10 grams, .835 silver, the Latin Union standards that lasted till the beginning of the first world war. PCGS certifies some of these as SP, but NGC is correct in certifying them as proofs. These were extremely rare presentation coins for the King , his family and other very high dignitaries with unknown mintages of 5-10 pieces for each of these VIP proofs from 1868 to 1883.
I had also won the proof 1874 50 lepta ,(2.5 grams, 0.835 silver) in a decade old UBS auction, but the collector who was present at the premises and executed my winning bid, decided to keep it for himself and he never gave it to me. I hadn’t prepaid any money, but it was a gentleman’s agreement to pay for the winning bid , the day of his return to Athens. However,, the bidder changed his mind overnight, when in fact he wasn’t sure, (he actually had no clue) if it were a proof striking or not….
