Well have a old barn from the late 1800’s to the early 1900’s here on the ranch. Decided to take a board off of it to see what it would come up with. A lot of work went into fixing the board with jointing, epoxy to leave the natural holes and build the structure of the wood but overall it looks pretty cool.
That is as a great idea, Mike. What kind of wood is it?

I finally added some stickers to my set, Mike. Thank you for convincing me to include a sixth row in the box. Good call.

I just replied to your email. I am from the very tip of Northern California, I don't think you can get any closer to Oregon then where I am right now lol And thank you very much for the Compliment of my work.
Just received some boxes from Mike:
“Exquisite workmanship” is all that needs to be said. I’ll attempt to post some pictures. I bought a few that were finished products. Two days from Happy Camp to Tahoe. Thanks Mike!
Hawknestmonsters,
You should be my photographer lol. It's great seeing the boxes again. The funny thing is my family gets heartbroken when they see the boxes being made and leaving they want to keep everything lol Enjoy and looking forward to seeing the collection inside them.

Well been almost a month but I finally have these boxes ready for their finish. Wheww that took awhile. They are a 4 row Mahogany and Black Walnut will hold approx 264 cards each with a total of 1320 PSA cards. What a simply amazing collection I’m sure.

Congrats, it is really strong as is that Mantle. Glad to know if I ever spring for one of your boxes the funds will go toward an awesome collection!!!
Lol the funny thing is the boxes don't even go to the collection. They help allow me to maintain the hobby for woodworking and getting equipment for it. My next big purchase out of the saved funds will be a CNC Machine which hopefully next month I will have saved enough to purchase.
The cards have to be completely separate from that hobby, out of personal funds. I defiantly can't keep both hobbies going haha. Its almost like mixing work with pleasure haha.
..... I have a couple of Mike’s boxes. The craftsmanship is exquisite with measurements that are precise. They are a fitting match for anybody’s valuable cards.
The two Monkey Pod boxes are almost complete, just needing the finish on them. I’m about out of this wood, I should of got a lot more when I was in Hawaii darn it.
I really like that wood as well, one of my favorites but of course with such a nice wood there is a flaw. Once you cut it, it’s very easy to chip so have to go a lot slower then normal woods, also when cutting the sawdust smells like Manure, awful smell but only when cutting not the finish product haha.

Well for the longest time, I’ve been wanting to get one of these. It’s a 2D-3D CNC machine. I soooo wanted to get a card and been saving for a long time but figured this was a little more important. It will take me a couple of months I’m sure to learn the machine, but looking forward to what it really can do.

I love the second box with the maroon felt. Is that the black walnut wood? Also, is the first box a 200 count? It looks like the perfect size. Very nice work, Mike. As always.

The second box has the Black Wenge for the risers and Koa for the box. I really like the first one with the Golden Mahogany it look really good as well, well heck I just like everything lol. Yes that top one will hold little over 200 in that one.

Here is the Bubinga wood box with some cards displayed in it. The first three rows are designed for PSA holders, and the fourth row is designed for SGC holders. The fourth row will also fit Beckett holders and Card Saver 1s, making it the perfect row for miscellaneous cards. Thank you, Mike!

Anytime. I love the way the SGC holders and the Card Saver 1s fit in the fourth row. Thanks again, Mike. I may be in touch one more time for something small that will fit 100 toploaders. I look forward to sharing that little project with you one day. It is very unique. Take care.

It truly saddens me to say that I will not be posting anymore boxes or woodwork for a long time. Unfortunately there was a Forrest fire that came rushing down the mountain and with a very little warning my family and I were evacuated only having 30 minutes to grab everything we can and leave. We are safe which is the good thing, but our home, ranch, wood shop, business has been burnt to the ground. I did save some of my collection and what I could. If you want to know where I lived it was Happy Camp CA if you look at the fire it was called the slatter butte fire.

Aloha my friend
I am so sorry to hear about your devastating loss. That is truly horrible news. First, I am glad that everyone is safe. That is paramount. I am glad some of your collection was saved. From the little you have shared it would have been extremely sad for those cards to be lost forever.
I know that this has to be so difficult for you and your family to go through. I hope this event brings you closer together and at least some small good comes out if this tragedy. Will miss seeing your creations and I hope that you all land on your feet and are able to make a new home soon. Good luck and all the best. Hope you post again when life returns to normal. All the best your way.

Sorry to hear about that. I'm glad everyone got out OK. I am in the Central Valley and one of the high schools here has been setup to take in all the animals from the Creek Fire just NE of us. California has had a lot of wildfires over the last few years, but this year tops them all.

Looks like a blue pine. Of course you can't see it when its on the barn but once you mill it, it came out really nice and shows the potential.

Have been busy in the shop, but some very beautiful wood boxes are being made. These ones are actually for graded magic cards. The Koa box is awesome.
