I wondered if Mr. Hansen got it - think he's only missing 7 in his complete variety set. With @DIMEMAN pretty much saying it would take an arm and a leg to pry the XF45 from him, the XF40 might be the way to go for now.
$2,880 for the #3 coin (PCGS VG8) is a new record for a VG, beating the #11 coin (raw VG) which sold on eBay 7/2016 for $2,250.
Prices continue to stay steady, rising slightly when properly advertised in true auctions with the sole exception of the #4 coin (PCGS XF40) which took a slight hit from being sold when it was the Top Pop versus being sold after the #8 coin (PCGS XF45) became the new Top Pop.
There is a slight variance with all the AG3 sales primarily due to a mix and match with true auctions, Buy-It-Now's, Best Offers and fixed price web sales, but there is still a healthy amount of interest from top to bottom of the grading scale among the 25 known examples.

The year is almost over and we've only had 1 more example show up bringing us to 25 known.
We had a little bit of action sales-wise towards the end of summer with 2 eBay sales, 1 Heritage, and 1 Stacks & Bowers.
The #14 coin: PCGS F Details - Genuine - Edge Dmg (B) didn't sell a few times on eBay first at $1,750 then again at $900. I'm thinking folks want these more for Registry sets versus detail graded ones.
We're over 3.5 years since this came out, with the bulk showing up in the first 1.5 years. The last 2 years have been pretty slim for new examples.
Just bringing this to the top to keep it fresh in everyone's minds - good luck searching!

I had one of these years ago in about fine, long before I found the ag I sold last year. Showed it around, but was told the same thing, strike doubling , and just no intrest it seemed, I don't know what ever happen to that one, but at least I was redeemed a little when I located the ag last year. As I mentioned in an earlier thread, went thru a large deal of mercs, lots of 19's, but no luck, just last week checked liked 2 rolls of 19's and nothing.
seems to be a scarce issue, which is actually good at keeping the values in check

That coin has been on eBay a few times in the last year, I saw it again a week or so ago for maybe??? $375 Buy It Now and a day or so later it was gone, and not listed in the completed section. I assume you made a private deal?
I can update coin # 14's history adding a 3/2019 purchase - to you - don't suppose you care to share the selling price to add that to the sales history part of the census?
Let me talk to my Dad about adding the selling price, but I will say that it was listed as $399 starting bid, not buy it now.
We did a private deal for a LOT more than that.
Thanks for the heads up @JasonGaming - compared pics to my files and does not match any other known ones - he has an obv picture in the reddit thread, and I'd estimate it as an AG unless the reverse has any surprises.
After seeing a picture of the reverse, I changed the new 26 coin to FR in the census unless it comes back any different from a TPG. Wear-wise, it's almost identical to the number 17 coin in the census: PCGS FR-2
Even if it straight-grades as an FR-2, still carrying some value.
Welcome #27 to the census - showed up in the population report. Anybody here make this beauty? 4th highest straight-graded example. Compared to all others in my photo database, it is a new example.

The Fine 12 is a nice looking coin. I have mixed feelings about more being found.
Mixed because you are not the one finding them? 8-)
We're only at 27 in the census in a little over 4 years. Still not in a published CPG, which will help a lot more surface I think. A small paragraph in Mega Red as well as mentioned in the Whitman Dime Book is about it, but not in the regular Redbook yet. Dennis said Whitman was monitoring the coin for possible inclusion a few years ago. Not sure how many need to be found, or what kind of movements needs to happen for it to hit the Redbook. Inclusion in the Registries I think helped quite a lot as well.
Sales are certainly robust for the variety across all grades. Even with 27 in the census, there are only 9 straight-graded or problem-free raw at VG or higher. 14 Problem Free in Good or lower then 4 details/problem coins.
I don't think supply has outgrown demand for straight-graded pieces yet by a long shot. Only 13 of the 27 have ever come up for sale in a public environment, so I think those that want one and are willing to pay for one, are still bidding aggressively for any that show up for sale.
Things certainly slowed down the last few years, but always fun when some are found or sold around the same time so I get to update the census and bump the thread!
What do you think the AU environmental damage might bring at auction?

I really don't know to be honest. A lot will depend on how well NCS conserved the coin. I saw pictures of it before it was conserved and it was kind of a train-wreck, but have not seen how it turned out afterwards, if it has any eye appeal or not.
I think many folks want these for inclusion in a registry, which would turn off a lot of bidders as well as the stigma of simply being a details coin. The few detail coins which have sold were about 1/2-1/3 lower than straight-graded pieces. I would expect about the same if the NCS AU-50 Details coin came up for auction (again... depending on the results of the conservation).
The XFs have pulled between $8-10k
The VF has sold around $4k a few times
The VGs go around $3k
The Goods and FR between $1k - $2k
If the Details AU-50 has any sort of eye appeal left, and the bidder doesn't care about the ability to put it in a registry set, I would guess anywhere from $3k - $5k. The lower end of the range once an AU or higher straight-graded piece comes into play.

$2,880 for the #3 coin (PCGS VG8) is a new record for a VG, beating the #11 coin (raw VG) which sold on eBay 7/2016 for $2,250.

I have yet to meet Tom in person, but if I ever get the opportunity the coffee and donuts are absolutely on me.

Look for me at the ANA. I’ll be riding an electric scooter.

I don't know if you will want to update the census, but this was a new purchase of ours (In God We Trust Coins and Currency).
Coin #14:
InGodWeTrustCoinsandCurrency.com
@InGodWeTrustCoins
Thanks for the update!

Let me talk to my Dad about adding the selling price, but I will say that it was listed as $399 starting bid, not buy it now.
We did a private deal for a LOT more than that.

@StrikeOutXXX my Dad said that he would rather not disclose the selling price.
Thanks!

This thread is one of my favorite memories of this forum. It’s nice to see a refresh after I’ve been away for awhile.
The rim damage on coin 14 above is seen near the date, right? All it takes sometimes is one drop, eh? Certainly a terrific find, regardless.
Another one has been found, over on Reddit! (Not by me.)
Always buying nice toned coins! Searching for a low grade 1873 Arrows DDO Dime and 1842-O Small Date Quarter.
Thanks for the heads up @JasonGaming - compared pics to my files and does not match any other known ones - he has an obv picture in the reddit thread, and I'd estimate it as an AG unless the reverse has any surprises.
So... this one is #26 - Stage B

(17) PCGS FR2 - $1,475 (1/2/18 - Sold through Gerry Fortin's website - seateddimevarieties.com)
(17) PCGS FR2 - $606.83 (9/4/16 GC)

Welcome #27 to the census - showed up in the population report. Anybody here make this beauty? 4th highest straight-graded example. Compared to all others in my photo database, it is a new example.
27) PCGS F-12 - New to census May, 2019.
