I also held back on posting more images because I didn't want to bore folks with the coins I was posting. Here is a reverse; I'll post the obverse later.
Yep, a 1952-S. I recall vividly that afternoon at the Spring 2000 Baltimore show on Dealer Day when another dealer and I went through a box of 300-or so original double mint sets. I opened up the envelope and this coin was just staring at me. It was geek love...
The 58 Type B looks very clean of marks. Hope it looks that good in hand. The light is questionable at best, so hard to see if the surfaces are original.
Nice 1943 DDO. Did you buy it in the holder or raw?
Thanks
Jay
Heritage Last Night. The Hair detail really stands out and the face and neck area look hit free. The price was another reason. And it Fills One more Hole in a 185 coin set.
It was just another coin that called out Buy me.....Did you copy the pictures from your recent purchase? Looking forward to seeing that coin.

Congrats on the coin Jay. Some of these are just cheaper to pick up already in a pcgs slab and glad to help.
Now up for discussion is the Heritage Auction at the ANA show.
I noticed someone must be selling off there Washington Quarter set. What is different is the fact that Heritage or the seller is putting 3 or more MS 67 together in a sale?
There are a Few Lots being offered this way and I just don't get it? Is the fact that so MANY coins are now being graded 67 + that the 67 are no longer collectible so they bundle them together? I have seen this done before but never with MS 67 Coins.
I was looking at Mitch's set (as I do at least once a week) and noticed when I clicked on his 1956P that in coin facts he has a write up under "expert Comments" Wow! was that great. Mitch I want more. I started clicking on a bunch of dates and couldn't find any more write ups. Mitch, What other dates have you written for? and when will you add more write ups. I could sit here for hours reading a write up from Mitch for every date and mint. I would like to see you do it for the Roosies too.
Thanks Nick. I have written comments both for the classic and modern side of things over on Coinfacts in the past. So, you might just as easily find a comment I have written on a silver quarter date or a 1993 "Philly Set" Silver Eagle for that matter.
I would greatly enjoy writing up some comments with you on various Silver Roosie Dime dates. Why don't you select a date or two, send me over your draft language, I'll add whatever I can add to the commentary and we can jointly post some comments on the silver Dimes. Sound good? Let's avoid 1964-D for a while though

Stooge: I am not really active at all. I got in a 39-S quarter in MS67+ POP 1 earlier this year (which took all these years to make in a pop 1/0). By the time I got the coin entered in my set last week it was a pop 4 coin! That sums it up nicely.
At ANA, I saw a number of MS67+ coins that could have upgraded my set (on paper). I did not buy any (even though a few sold at fairly cheap levels) as the current MS67 coins in my collection were superior in quality in my opinion. I have no interest in chasing registry points.

edited to add ... And I had nearly -20- POP 1 coins a few years ago. Last month down to 5. I just saw my 53-D quarter went from pop 1 to pop 2 last week as well. Now down to 4 POP 1 silver coins. That's a lot of registry points lost on 16 POP 1/s going down the drain! Come and get my final 4 POP 1's and take me out of my misery please!! Here are the remaining coins:
1935-D MS67+ (what's taking you pro upgraders so long)? 1936-D MS67+ (this one will not be so easy to match) 1951-S MS68 (this one will not be so easy to match) 1954-D MS67+ (this one should not be so easy to match, but its going to happen soon I suspect)

I would like to see Wondercoin post photos of his Clad quarters.

I love the rainbow toning on that 1941 S Nice Pickup.
I Believe in leaving the set OPEN to everyone, as last week I was contacted by another registry player who had a few extra Varieties. Made a Great Deal and received the 4 coins on Monday.
Here is one of the coolest DDR I think in the series and need to find the 802 next. The Deal also included the 1942 DDO 101 in MS 63. The other 2 are just amazing low pop coins that I will post when I get Pictures.
Would one of you experts in this field of error collections please explain to me the mechanics of such strong rotation in the letters in America, without the same throughout the words United States?
What we've got here is failure to communicate.....
Would one of you experts in this field of error collections please explain to me the mechanics of such strong rotation in the letters in America, without the same throughout the words United States?
Wish I could explain but can tell you the 802 the doubling is more evident on the quarter dollar and lighter on united states of america. To me these two are the strongest reverse dies I have seen. Thanks for all the comments and here is the secure plus picture of the 1947 ddo AU 58. Also picked up the 1945 DDO in AU 55 both of these coins have a pop of only 12.
This past week I picked off a 1943 S 804 and the Trumpet Tail And picked up the 1949 d 601 and hopefully the 1950 d/d off ebay raw. 10 coins in with our host for grading. Sparky I have noticed there are a few years that surprise me too that there are not a lot more 67's out there. My guess is there is still a lot of rolls out there and many more jewels to be found.
It's like these varieties I finally realize that Most can still be found in the raw. There not top pops but there alot cheaper and more fun to find. The books are really helping....
I like your 1941. These pre-Mint Set years are tough to find with any real color covering the entire coin. I'd imagine this piece was in a paper envelope, but it still retained nice orange and violet hues under the base color.

I really Like that one and must have missed it on ebay? Nice pickup.
Last week someone posted pcgs graded over 15000 coins in one day. I was praying none were mine. That afternoon up popped my economy order from 8/1. This has to be one of my worst submission with only 2 MS 65 (1 is a tied Top Pop) the other was the 1958 type B that I was positive a lock for a 66.
2 coins got a MS 63 and one a MS 62? I thought I knew my series......Last coin was a 1952 Large D that was deemed cleaned the first time thru and this time straight graded AU 50 which will be a upgrade for my set.
3 more coins sitting there regular on two vouchers and hopefully those will do better. I am going to have others look at 3 of those and try to figure what am I Missing......

Here is a lot I bought off ebay that has a few nice coins in the bunch. The Most interesting one is the 1962 in the Cellophane.
It is marked MS and I plan on getting in checked out as it is the Type B Reverse.
Not a Mark on the coin and if its a true MS its a Score. A couple of the proofs look really good too.....
