I'm still waiting for a PSA employee to manually add the signed 69 Topps to my registry sets. In the meantime, today's mail included 2 more basic Topps additions to my sets:
I just added the 75 mini, and now the regular sized Topps. Nice to check those off my list.
<< <i>As many of you know, meeting Yaz last November was a huge day for me. That day, I had him sign his '69 Topps card. After a couple of months of round trip to PSA and back, I finally received it back today in a slab. I am beyond thrilled! This is easily one of the 2 or 3 cornerstone pieces of my collection:
>>
Great story, and a fantastic looking card! You have every right to be thrilled with that one.
Great cards Dannielson! Especially the 76. That card reminds me of a time when I was a kid. I broke something and received a spanking from my mom. The next day after returning home from school, there was a 76 rack pack on the kitchen counter. I thought the cards were for my little brother since I was in trouble. Turns out my mom felt bad for beating me and bought the rack out of sympathy haha. I remember pulling that card and thought it was awesome looking. Every time I got in trouble after that and got spanked, I expected to find more cards on the counter but it never happened again lol
Every time I saw something Yaz at the Natty I thought of you. >>
Thanks Mike! I think your Natty thread was my favorite. Got to look thru the eyes of a long time collector but first time attendee. Plus the items you picked up were so unique.
<< <i>How did you get PSA to add your signed '69 in your basic set? >>
If a signed card has a numerical grade, PSA will allow you to add it to a player set. However, those cards are not eligible for team registries or PSA company sets (I lost that battle).

Dan, some very nice additions to the Yaz. collection. Love following this thread as it keeps me motivated grinding away on my Bench collection. What is next on the radar as far as pickups?
I've picked up some Yaz cards lately that have me really excited. The first 2 of them arrived today.
Happy to add this to my registry. I'm still going to keep my raw copy, since it's part of the Yaz puzzle I posted earlier in this thread. Love that puzzle.
But this is the star of today's mail day:
Some pop report stats on this one:
PSA 7 = pop 3 PSA 8 = zero copies PSA 9 = pop 2 PSA 10 = pop 1
PSA 9 and 10 copies are out of my budget so, with no 8's, a PSA 7 was the goal. With only 3 copies in existence, I wasn't sure I'd land one. Extremely happy to add this baby!!
These 2 cards make 70 items in my master set now, and only a few away from 20% complete. I'm subbing 2 or 3 Yaz cards this month, so I should get there soon.
Dan is going to have 20 of the new SMRs. Congrats!
BUYING Frank Gotch T229 Kopec Looking to BUY n332 1889 SF Hess cards and high grade cards from 19th century especially. "Once you have wrestled everything else in life is easy" Dan Gable
A Venezuelan Topps Yaz is something I've wanted to own ever since I heard of the Venezuelan issues. I wasn't sure whether I ever would, given the collision of scarcity and budget. But I was thrilled to land this baby last week!
One thing I love about this card, that others may think is strange, is that it has none of the typical paper loss on back or glue residue. Seems to have never been pasted in an album. I know most of you are probably thinking, "Yeah, but it's got pen ink all over the back." For reasons I can't explain, I prefer that to the paper loss I'd come to expect.
The card arrived last night, and is headed back out to Long Beach tomorrow as part of a sub I'm doing with Kyle. Can't wait to have this one slabbed!
Any grade will do, but what are you guys thinking? I'm thinking it's a PSA 2(MK).
Congrats Dan! Those are tough to land in any condition. I think that one certainly would have a shot at the PSA 2 MK. My understanding is that they factor in the quality of cardboard used to make them which was not very good. I hope to add a Vennie to my Bench collection one of these days.
Dan ... nice to see you picked up a Veni Yaz. Enjoy it!
Interesting to see that Cleveland had 4 guys in the top 8 in BA in '65.
STAY HEALTHY!
Doug
Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

Also interesting that Oliva and Yaz were the only ones with great averages that year. Everybody else was .301 or lower. It was definitely a pitching era, peaking 2 years later in the ridiculous '68 season.
On another note, I believe that Oliva and Yaz appeared on 4 annual batting leaders cards from 1963-71.
These 2 graded Yaz cards arrived yesterday, courtesy of Tom Salems and opcbaseball.com . Tom is a top notch seller.
I'm in love with the Deckle. I just love how ragged the edges are on the OPC version. A Topps Deckle has the edge cut in a pattern, but the OPC is much more ragged and "raw." Looks like it was torn out of a book by hand. No 2 sides are alike. For comparison, here's my Topps Deckle Yaz, which I don't like as much:
Thanks for looking at my new Canadian additions, via Texas.

Same here, very nice item. It sure speaks volume as to how much you like it when you say it just might be the favorite of your entire collection.
whoopsies! That card is to masculine for me to have used the French version of your name Dan--

Edited to add: that line all the way across the card and through his cap is a scratch on the slab. Anybody got an easy and safe fix for that?
