<< <i>this is a cool thread. Hey 1980'scollector what grade 52 mantle are you trying to get? whats your goal? >>

I plan to buy somewhere between a PSA 1-PSA 4.

If I earn enough money I would probably just buy the Mantle and use the extra money on another HOF rookie card instead of a higher grade 1952 Mantle. Don't want too much money in one card. However, that is something I would like input from the board members because I respect their opinions on vintage material alot.

I have been tossing around the idea of buying a 1951 Bowman RC Mantle and a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle if I can earn the funds through flipping.

I could get a Mick Rookie PSA 3 for around $2500.00 and then buy say a Mickey Mantle 1952 Topps PSA 3 I thought that would be a cool idea.

Here is a Mickey Mantle PSA 4 from Brent that I might have bought had I earned the money already.

nice sharp card, however IMO overpay for centering on that card, you will get more $$ in the long run.

Looks like you are having fun, keep it up!

I picked these four cards up for four hundred dollars.

    image

    Sold for $195.00 offline.

    image

Sold for $ 200.00 to a local collector.

    image

    Sold for 105.00 via eBay.

    image

    Sold for 125.00 via eBay.

That is $625.00 and deduct $25.00 for eBay fees on the two cards that were sold via eBay.

    That is a $200.00 profit.

Cash total $3472.00 and a 2007 Topps Triple Threads Brett Favre 1/1 White Whale autograph.

    Great job Nathan, keep rolling!!!

Why is the Brett Favre hanging around? Haven't gotten a fair offer on it yet?

I went ahead and listed it tonight and will end in seven days.

I hadn't gotten a real good offer as a BIN/BO so I had waited it out to answer your question. However, it is time for Brett to find a good home.

Yes, I was able to pick these items up and sell them. The first is a Starlin Castro Topps Chrome Rookie Blue Autograph that I picked up from a local collector. I paid $40.00 for it and sold it for $65.00 via ebay.

    image

The next item is sold and going all the way to Shanghai, China.

This is the 1996 SPx Silver complete set and 39 of the rare GOLD VERSION. I picked this up on our road trip in Louisville, KY. I paid $50.00 for the lot and sold it for $150.00 via ebay.

    image

Another item was bought before he got hot from a local collector and sold on Sunday during the Redskins game. The card was bought for $100.00 and sold for $165.00. via ebay.

    image

That is a gross profit of $190.00 and then about $30.00 in ebay fees.

The reason I have stopped posting cards until after I sell them is because I don't want board members to feel as though I am peddling my purchases on the board. I just want to share the journey.

That is a profit of $160.00.

The centering is off left to right and the reason for the PSA 6 grade because the surface is beautiful and the corners are nice. I really wish it was centered with some other flaws to make it EX-MT.

First, I need your advice. I have an offer on the Jim Brown for $323.00 via eBay . I am curious on your thoughts on whether I should accept that offer or hold out for $350.00? It just seems low as the last PSA 5 went for $314.00. What is your opinion on that offer?

    Transaction #51

I bought these two Michael Jordan rookies, this morning at my office, from someone who needed a little extra cash. Paid $600.00 for the pair. The sticker is really nice with four sharp corners and I got the wax stain off a little while ago.

Hey Nate..What are the subs on the Jordan?
  • Options
If I actually owned a PSA 6 brown I'd stay stay firm on your price to keep the price level stable.
On flip side the 4 could have been really nicely centered hence the premium. In the scheme of things the ~$25 differential is small in the scheme of things and cashing in now and moving on to next major transaction is prob better move. Just my two cents.
    I love this thread.
  • Options
Depending on the conditon of the Sticker and the Jordan subs you should clear $ 80.00 - $ 100.00 on the deal if you sell them on ebay.

Nathan ... the last PSA "6" to sell on ebay (09/09/12) went for $317.00. Looks like the centering (which I do not like) is similar to yours. (Hard to tell the details on your card as it's not a real good picture.) I say SELL NOW and move on.

The $300 is actually a good price based on the centering. The centering on the Brown is not so hot, so I would see if you could sell it for that off Ebay to save on fees, and ship it out!

Bobby, my plan is to get no higher than a PSA 3 or 4 1952 Topps Mantle. I just don't want too much money tied up in one card. However, who knows.

If we make more money than that I would buy, in addition to the 1952 Topps, a 1951 Mantle Rookie or a Hank Aaron 1954 Topps Rookie or even a really nice Michael Jordan rookie.

Also, hoping to have five hundred left over at the end of the process to start over but we will just have to see how it plays out.

    Nate,

i cannot recall what you're into on the Unitas, but the strength of that card is that he signed it, it has some of his fabric in it and he's deceased. 9.0 vs 9.5 on the card has little to do with pricing IMO. Dont miss out on profit because of a "potential" .5 sub bump that may not matter all that much in the end.

Nate ... IIRC you paid $1,000.00 for the lot that included the Unitas card. If you take the $550.00 and then sell the Bench & Griffey at VCP (I think you sold the others) you should net ~$500.00 on that deal. I say sell the Unitas and go forward.

Thanks for the kind words. It helps me keep plugging along. It really stung to have to sell the MJ rookie. I really want a Michael Jordan rookie in my personal collection.

The reason I am going so hard is my brother really had worked hard to get into a WSOP Main Event. I want to make sure some of the money he gave away to others wasn't wasted.
