After PMs from many of you (most of whom I "know" and respect) I think it may be time to put this thread to bed. Lots are getting taken and then reversed not once, but two or three offers back. It's back to VettFanatic now, who had his lot taken by BPorter, who had his lot taken by Milbroco... And since VettFanatic has had (very nice) lots taken three times and reversed three times, he does not want to post another lot so it's actually back to me. My lot was sent already and I don't want VettFanatic to send it back (which he kindly offered to do). I was hoping lowering the amount on the thread would help, but it's still stalled.

So I'm calling it. If someone else wants to start another one, please feel free. Maybe better rules can be established with the lessons learned from this thread. Many thanks to everyone who participated. It was a lot of fun, which was the point of the thread in the first place.

2.5 is pretty much my speed.
  • This thread was fun while it lasted! I made some cool trades on here and enjoyed it.
  • It had a great run, and thank you for starting it. I think many of us had a lot of fun, and I made some new friends and established trading relationships with some really good guys.

Lets not say goodbye, but until we start it up again in the future.

Nice work! It made it almost a year. 10.5 months to be exact. I loved this thread. Picked up three lots too. I am thinking another will start sometime but maybe we just need some time off.

Thanks for putting it together, it was a blast.

Jarrod ... it was a blast while it lasted. I made 2 or 3 trades during this time. I will never forget that one Friday where the lots were ~$300.00 ... there were about 4 or 5 trades that night ... I was lucky enough to be a recipient and a giver that day.

If this ever starts again ... whoever is in charge ... if you notice someone who takes a lot more than they are giving ... and they try it more than once ... they should not be allowed to participate in the future. I think that is what really killed the thread ... too many people got disgusted with some of the members who tried to PITT ... "Pay It To Themselves"!

THANKS AGAIN. IT WAS A GREAT IDEA.
    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
  • I will be pouring out a 40 tonight for this thread and all my threads that didn't make it.

This was a great thread idea Jarrod. It was fun while it lasted. Thanks for your generosity in letting me keep the Henderson rookie. It will be considered a gift and never sold. Sorry this had to end with my lots being taken and given back 3 times. I guess it's just run its course for now. Thanks to everyone i've gotten items from and hopefully what i've payed forward will be enjoyed.

Although I did not get a chance to participate, it was certainly one of the threads that was fun to watch.
I'm building a 1968 and a 1970 Topps set. I have lots of 1970s and 1960s to offer in trade.

  • R.I.P. to certainly one of the best threads ever on this board.
  • I'll take it!

    Oh wait....

Honestly it was fun and had a lot of positives but also several negatives. No reason to rehash them...I think all in all we never did find that happy medium that could have kept it going. Seemed to me that quality lots turned intimidating at times. I know I wasn't the only one who was afraid to take a lot...only to not be able to be up to snuff with my lot in the boards' eyes. Thank you to all involved for making this a daily visit for me.

Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?
