Less than 500.00 (425.00) after the juice for everything.
Was surprised to find the Bonds didn't have a Dmitri Young tag.
I was in on the Sutton early and bowed out after it cleared 3K. That was my limit for that card. If I had won it, I would have probably embarked on the Sutton Master set. I was also in on the 74 Parker. I've always wanted that card, but decided 1800.00 was too much. Everything bought though will be fitting in my registry sets just fine.
Well, I won and hung on to the '78 Molitor/Trammel Sweeeeeeet
Got blown out of the '75 Mini Carter and the '71 Garvey
The Molitor/Trammel has always been one of my favorites and getting a PSA 10 has always been one of my must haves. It really looks sweet. Nicest one I've ever seen
Lot of money but I'm happy

Nice cards!
Just make sure you PM me before you put the Mattingly up on the Pay It Forward thread!
The 1954 Al Kaline Psa 10 finished at $88,688. I feel real bad for the sap that purchased this severely over graded card. The card should have been graded in the Psa 8 range.
Forgot to mention the 85 Fleer Clemens and Hershiser. Won those too
So won the following:
1978T Molitor/Trammel 1985F Clemens 1985F Hershiser
The 85 Fleer set was always my favorite as a kid and it's a really condition sensitive set. Think there's some room for growth with the star rookies and have always thought Hershiser rookies were undervalued. I also think the 85 Fleer stuff is much rarer than the 85 Donruss, especially based on unopened stuff I see now. Maybe the baseballcardexchange can back that up
I am about 5K poorer but really happy with what I won.
The Molitor is perfect but the case has a few scratches. Do you think PSA will put in a new holder and keep the Dmitri Young name on it?

I went to sleep around 1230am central time leading 6 auctions and none had moved in two hours. I woke up and had won 3. I lost out to late bids on the three big ones and was pretty bummed. I missed the Fisk OPC, E. Murray OPC, and Dwight Evans OPC. That Murray OPC rookie was beautiful. Anyway, I won a few:
1981 OPC #136 TIM RAINES GEM MINT PSA 10 (1/3) - DMITRI YOUNG COLLECTION 1985 TOPPS #536 KIRBY PUCKETT GEM MINT PSA 10 - DMITRI YOUNG COLLECTION 1987 OPC #320 BARRY BONDS GEM MINT PSA 10 (1/6) - DMITRI YOUNG COLLECTION
I've been looking for the Bonds OPC rookie for quite a while, so was happy to get that one. I overpaid a bit on the Puckett because I wanted to win at least one Dmitri card and I can never have too many Puckett rookies. The Raines is another OPC rookie I've been wanting. I'm hoping his HOF vote % continues to climb.
Anyway, I'm really disappointed about the Fisk and Murray cards which brings me to this question. How many of you regret not making a little stronger push at a card that may take you years to see again? I think I have a little non-buyers remorse about that Murray. Also, for those with limited funds, did you see any cards and think "Man, if I had the finances, I know I could turn this card for a big profit in a few years"?
<< <i>Looks like there was close to 3 million spent on the auctions. I wonder what his take is going to be after fees, etc. and what kind of profit he made after its all said and done. >>

Mike - that's a great take! Did you end up winning those three, afterall?
<< <i>The Dmitri Young 1977 Gem Mint 10 Mark Fidrych is at $429.
Question: Is this price tag due to the difficulty of finding a gem mint Fidrych rookie (there are apparently three of them) or due to Fidrych's popularity among collectors?
I'm a Fidrych fan/collector, but for years, this card was pointed to as a cautionary tale of the rookie card craze.
Ten years from now, will a card's special status as a former part of the "Dmitri Young Collection" still somehow elevate it among collectors? Is there another batrch of cards out there with a similar provenance? (I'm not talking about the Gretzky Wagner, just a similar batch of cards of noteworthy background as well as condition.) >>
There was a Fidrych last year that sold for around 1500 IIRC. So anywhere beneath 1000 is a decent price on that card >>
Had to snag the Clemente, have been looking for a 9 for yrs and havent found a good one, was time to step up and this thing is a blazer!!! Also scooped the Brock. Great auction, was fun to watch and particpate. EOMINT
What a great score on the Clemente rookie. If I had the funds I would have been right there till the end on that card. Glad to hear it went to a true collector.
<< <i>bubblebathgirl, what do you mean by green shift? >>
IMO $4,569.60 for the Molitor is a price that simply won't hold up over time. If one was to hit eBay, I'd guess it'd sell for 2-2.5k (assuming it doesn't get super shilled).
I think many things contribute to the prices we saw with the SCP auction ... the hype, the lack of accountability for bids, and people with lots of money doing what people with lots of money do.
The buyer got taken to the cleaners on it during the Mile High auction and is now trying to offload it for a profit. Most eBay buyers, in the market for such a card, probably have VCP or some general knowledge of what this card will normally go for ... and will simply do their homework. They'll also look at the scans and see that the back of the card is horrible ... and in no way demands a premium above other examples. Needless to say that card remains unsold and the seller will most likely need to take a substantial loss in order to move it IMO.
So I understand the joy of being able to get something you really want, such as the Molitor or Ozzie ... but I honestly think the prices they went for simply won't hold up over time and are examples of circumstances as I've expressed above. >>
As I said, the Molitor is a card I have had on my radar for years and the to be honest, I didn't buy it for the sake of turning a profit so who knows what might happen if I decide to sell it in a year or 2. I am a collector first and if these cards are profitable and a nice investment for my kids great. What few PSA 10 Molitors I've seen don't compare to this one
Looks like you specialize in 78 and 79, but you compare the HOF rookies in the auction and in general what they're going for, the Molitor/Trammel is pretty reasonable. 11K for the Rickey Henderson? 20K for Ozzie? Maybe the Eddie Murray is comparable but even that went for 6500. What about the Eckersly at 6600?
As I said, I'm biased cuz I love the Molitor/Trammel and cards in general that usually have major defects and are so hard to find pristine (Also love the Bird/Magic). Probably a lot of us overpaid
It will be interesting to see what these start going for when they pop up on eBay.
Bubblegirl, do you happen to know what the last PSA 10 Molitor went for on eBay? I know the SMR guide lists it at 3300
