Thanks for posting all the awesome pics!! I love seeing other people's collections and how they display them. How you haven't done any ripping is beyond me.....however, since I started to get unopened, i've been able to surprise myself with the self-control that I've been able to display..............so far anyways! >>

Thanks. I also collect raw sets which are in the binders on the shelving units. By being able to see the sets, I have no need to open the packs I have. Up next, 1975.

Good timing John. I figured you would like the 1975's. I especially like the autographed Aaron and Hernandez.

Moving onto 1976, probably my favorite Seaver pack. Don't worry Tim, you'll get it back eventually. It's in the will. image

I was wondering where you went to Tim. Now I know.

Here are some nice 1977 cellos. Was really happy to get the PSA 10 on the Brett Record Breaker.

Thank you for posting the pics, its a very fun collection. Lost in the crazy awesome 70s mountain, are some fun less expensive boxes. I think those fleer racks are wax racks, which is a favorite of mine as are the toys r us rookies. I also appreciate putting the junk boxes right there with the high end stuff. If you enjoy unopened, it just shouldn't matter how many they made. Looking forward to the next update whenver that may be.

Thanks Darren. Yeah, I don't discriminate with unopened. image

I have both the Fleer racks with the wax packs in them from 1986 as well as the ones you can see the players on top for 1984 and with the 1983 jumbo racks which have three of the regular cello packs in them. I love the 1984 Fleer set.

Onto the 1979 cellos. Seems like I went a little crazy getting these graded.

Edited to add: It may be hard to see, but the second Pete Rose pack has Munson on back, the Guidry RB and Tim Johnson both have Ryan on back, and the Prospects has Ozzie on back.

Here is a picture of my favorite project I worked on, my Seaver rack pack run. I also have Topps, Donruss and/or Fleer racks with Seaver on top from 1984 to 1986 not pictured below. I thought it would be too small if I tried to get them all in there.

Terrific run of packs, Mike! I like the way you positioned the graded packs with the raw boxes backdrop.

Thanks Tim. I tried to come up with a good way to display them. And the 70 Bench pack is very happy to have a place of honor in the cpamike vault. He told me that the 1979 Super Cello box isn't the only thing that got dusty at your place. image

Btw, thanks for completing the Super Cello run.

If anyone has any picture requests from what they see, please feel free to let me know and I'll post them for you. I'm open to ideas, but NOT opening.

Obviously this is all very cool, but I just could never collect this way. I have one copy of each wax, rack and cello from my years of interest. If I bought, say, another 1973 wax pack, then I'd never know whether I should buy a third, fourth, etc. It's way too open ended for me. Also too expensive image

    Mike,

As already said by others, tremendous collection and display. I wish I would have started collecting again earlier as I will probably never be able to approach this kind of variety or volume of unopened at current market prices. Congratulations on building a great collection for yourself and your kids.

Spectacular update! You and Tim were my two primary inspirations when I joined this forum a couple years ago and I always enjoy seeing the photos. I will post some unopened updates myself in the coming weeks. It was a pretty slow year as far as acquisitions go, but I got a few good ones.
Always buying 1971 OPC Baseball packs.

    Mike,

This is simply an amazing unopened collection! Your display is fantastic and I love all the material you have managed to pack away over the years. This is one of the finest collections of 1970's and 1980's unopened in existence and I am very appreciative you have shared the photos with us. Your collection as well as your hobby knowledge was one of the driving reasons I joined the forum a few months back after attending my first National last year. It is always fun to look at these preserved treasures. Hopefully we can connect in person at the National this year and talk all things unopened.

    Happy New Year!

    Hiya Mike

    Happy New Year!

I missed your post last night.

The organization is inspirational and the collection is...

I'm at a loss for an accolade. How about just INCREDIBLE!

I'm with you. These entombed specimens have far more allure unmolested. Like Schrödinger's cat.

    Thanx for sharing.

Hello Mike. Thanks for the kind words and Happy New Year to you too!!!

I hope to be a little more active next year than I was towards the end of this one. Maybe I'll post a few more racks tonight. Who doesn't like a good set of racks? image
