<< <i>Thanks Mike and welcome to the boards. Lots of great guys here. What do you collect? >>
Thanks! I have only done mainly the prospect rip and flip thing for years now. I have tons of old 80's wax, but none sealed - just stuff I ripped as a kid. I have also been slowly been picking up 1956 Topps PSA cards, but some are SO expensive in a good grade that I don't have very many. Now that I was referred to this site though, I am definitely going to start collecting some sealed stuff! I started a thread on some questions I have with sealed items, so maybe you can help out there?
Looking for PSA HOF autos, PSA Vintage Red Sox and Pedro Martinez
I just got my latest PSA pack submission back and was pretty happy with the results. First the wax packs which I was happy that the gum didn't poke through on the return trip.

Does PSA use a different holder for the 80's cellos because there is more cards per cello compared to the 70's cello's? Love that 76 and 77 Seavers as those are my first 2 years collecting and does it bring back a lot of memories. It was just something about going to 7-11 and seeing cello's vs packs..

Thanks John. It popped on Day 40 and arrived on Day 41. They were pretty close on the 45 Day window. Of course, they were sent in under the $10 pack special in January which probably caused more of a backload as well.

Yes, the 80's holder is deeper than the one they use for the 70's cellos because of the extra cards.
I started with the 75's and love those early 70's packs too.

You rarely see Willie Stargell on top of racks or cellos and the guy in the middle section was a super-star for a while in the 70s A's dinasty,, in fact he is one of only 2 left handed pitchers in american league history to compile an earn run average of under 2 runs, while pitching 300 or more inings,, the other is?? My guess without cheating and using the internet is Whitey Ford especially since you are a Yankees fan.

Jose ... there must be at least three, because I have a guy that you were not thinking of:
Rube Waddell ... He did it THREE times ... 1904, 1905 and 1908, while playing in the American League.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Well it's been quite some time since I posted anytime here so I figured I'd use my National quest to get it going again.
First off, I would like to say it was great meeting as many people as I could from the board including Nathan (1980scollector), Mark (cincyredlegs), Mike (miconelegacy), Dan (Thunderdan), Bobby (BPorter26), Matt (MBMiller25), Dustin (Doublestriker), Curt (bbcemporium), Scott (OTWCards), Don (Mariner), Tom (tkd7), Jami (lostdart58), Mike (mknez), Kirk (mrmint23), Doug (DCanfield), Tyler (Dty), and Adam (Hoosierguy) as well as Eric (ThoseBackPages) who I already had met up with numerous times on Long Island. Meeting eveyone and talking cards was by far the best part of attending the National. I'd also like to thank Adam again for letting me use his VIP badge after he left on Friday. That was such a nice gesture!!!
Back to cards. I went to the National this year looking for some more scarce rack packs to add to my collection and I got lucky in hitting paydirt. My good friend Nathan (1980scollector) was good enough to grab a 1971 Topps Baseball Series 1 rack pack with a Tom Seaver League Leader card on top from BBCE. He was there on Wednesday night for the sneak peak while I was still in transit having to work that day. He did a great job reporting on the BBCE booth for me. Thanks again Nathan!!!
With the 71 rack secured, I was off to a good start and it was a harbinger of things to come. When I stopped back at the BBCE booth on Friday I was happy to discover that Steve had secured some 1972 rack packs at the show on Thursday. I had been looking to add at least one for my collection so I started to go through the three he had. Well, I liked the one with Larry Bowa showing on top, but I was even happier to find Tom Seaver showing on back. Added that one to my haul right away. So now I present, my current run of Tom Seaver rack packs in all their glory. If you have any that I'm missing, you know where I'm at.

AWESOME Mike! I like the rack with Seaver and Harrelson ... with Winfield thrown in for fun!

I'm assuming the 1985 is legit ... so for that year the panel location of the Seaver is not fixed? >>
Thanks guys!!!
Are you referring to the 1985 or the 1986 which is the last rack Paul? The 1986 rack is a Topps factory misload special as the same card, Steve Yeager, shows on the bottom of each of the Seaver sections of the rack as well.
