CPAMike's Unopened Pack Vault - Remodeled Again!!!

Hello Everyone. As you can tell from my tread title I am new to the board and just wanted to introduce myself. I learned about the board from summerof68 who as you all know has a wealth of knowledge. I've been collecting cards since 1975, but nowadays I stick mainly to unopened baseball packs. Previously, I was collecting every Mets cards from 1962 until 1986 in at least NM condition. I'm only missing the Seaver rookie (who isn't) and the 1962 Rookie Parade Pitchers with Craig Anderson and Bob Moorhead on it.

I've been on eBay for almost 3 years now buying like crazy. It's hard to keep buying when I don't sell anything. Also makes it hard to find room for all the stuff. As you can tell from my username, I am a CPA. So if you guys ever have any tax related questions, feel free to ask as I won't charge as long as you don't charge me for answering any of my collecting questions. I've posted a few pictures of some of my stuff. The Gretzky rookie I actually pulled from a pack as a kid. I'm looking forward to contributing to this board.

SEE PAGE 2 FOR REVISED LARGER PICTURES

Edited for change to Tread Title.

And miles to go before I sleep."

Thanks for warm greetings. I actually have already read a lot of that post while I was waiting for my password. Summerof68 told me about that thread. The Muggyman video is great. Not sure if it was on that post or another one.

I have a quick question. I see that many of you attach pictures directly to your post instead of as a file like I did. How do you do that? It's probably obviously, but I don't see how.

I had a deal to purchase a Seaver rookie, but the dealer I've worked with for over 15 years passed away before I could purchase the card. I'll get it eventually.

  • Hello Mike and welcome to the boards. There's a lot of extremely knowledgeable members who are eager to answer any questions you might have and welcome any input you have as well. Many owners of this country's most extensive vintage pack collections are members on this board (myself not included).

VitcoCo1972 makes a good suggestion in that using the services of Photobucket.com will enable you to display very good pictures. We pack collectors especially like seeing pictures of good vintage packs from fellow members. And we would love to see a better picture of your Bench/McCovey rack--what a beauty! Once again welcome to the madness--I mean boards!

Mine are all raw too, but I won't buy anything without it being centered and with 4 sharp corners. Just used the NM to give a better description of the quality. The Ryan was a tough one to find raw in great condition. I am not a fan of grading cards as I like to look at the cards up close in binders. I'll try to take a good picture of some of the Mets pages for you.

  • OK Mike now you have gone and done it by showing all those '75 racks. Now I won't get much sleep tonight as all those beautiful racks will be embedded in my mind. The '68 rack brings back a lot of memories for me for the that was the first year I collected cards and that was the first year that I busted racks as a kid. And I really like the '73 due to it's scarcity and nice condition as well as nicely centered top cards. An absolutely beautiful collection of vintage racks that is the envy of many I assure you--myself included! Maintain your discipline and don't bust those babies as legit vintage racks are getting scarcer each day.

Thanks for taking the time to post the pictures...I better go to bed early tonight.image

Welcome to the boards, Mike! That's a beautiful assortment of vintage racks you have there! I recall budding on a few of them myself when they were up for sale on ebay over the past couple of years. The '73 rack with the team card header was sold by packcollector a few years back, if memory serves.
