Yes Jim, I would definitely not pay $1,200 for a 1970 rack unless it was a high series with stars showing. I've seen legit 1970 racks go for anywhere from $500 to $700 without stars on top. It also depends on the series as well.
For the 1972, the prices would be in the $500 to $600 range without stars on top and around 700 plus for racks with stars showing.

WOWWWW, love the McCovey/Bench rak. They were both in my top 5 players as a kid (played catcher thru H.S. and the Padres were my 2nd favorite team). Thanks for sharing, John
I was going to take some pictures of my rack and cello boxes for youbut the camera battery was dead. So in the mean time I finished going through my 82 racks. This was a case of loose 82 racks that I think came from a company called No Gum, Just Cards. Going through them, it looks like these might have been factory seconds that Topps probably got rid of for nothing. Some of the packs are miscut so that the top of the next wrapper shows on the pack (as seen in the one I'm about to post). Also some have where the back seal has come loose and some have where the seal between the different sections has come apart so the cards in two sections can slide together. But, there are lots of stars on tops and bottom. Probably have at least 30 - 40 packs with stars showing plus some additional with stars showing that have the back seal problem which I will probably open. And most of the packs are in good shape without obvious problems. But anyway here is a double sided star pack that is nice even with the miscut wrapper.

I don't know where you all find all these 70s cellos with stars on top. Though it might be easier to find the ones with stars on top than not. People keep the stars and open the non-stars. That means all my non-star packs have to be more valuable. How many people had a 78 cello with Mike Lum on top? But since you guys have helped me out here, I could probably be convinced to trade you some of my valuable non-star packs for your ordinary run of the mill star on top packs. Just let me know.

74 - $250
75 - $200
76 - $125
