  • I just unlocked a code and it says "1959 This card is unavailable " Will there ever be a card available for this code or is it a zero forever ? Anybody here know for sure ? Thanks

I think it means it will likely be a decently cool card. You just have to wait.

I'd be real happy with that, even if he keeps his stats up that card has nowhere to go but down in price with the quantity increasing like it is. We are closing in on 100 Strasburgs unlocked so far.

The system had that bug awhile back... it just means the card didn't fully unluck. I had it happen on a '53, a '55, and a handful of '56s. In the end they all ended up being commons... about 6 cards in all.. I was able to call Topps and tell them about the problem and given them the exact code I used. As a result they were able to tell me what the cards unlocked before they showed up online.

Please consider it if you have one. Thanks!

  • Here is one thing to think about regarding the strasburg, If you win this or trade for this or whatever, it's a good chance this card will be gradeable, as its coming straight from topps, I dont think you can say that about any other card in this giveaway, I mean It's a very good chance when you receive this card it could be a 10, just something I thought I would throw out there

I have an offer for one of my cards and the person is offering multiple cards. The problem is, it won't show me what cards they are offering. I've had this problem for 2 days on all my computers. Anyone else having this issue?

I've seen a few people complaining about it on facebook, so my guess is that it is a known issue.

I haven't had this problem yet (because I haven't had a good trade offer in a couple days) ,but I have heard that it helps if you switch browsers.

    Cool stuff Jon!!

  • Those earliest three have pretty rounded corners, but pretty well everything from '64 on looks pretty solid. I'm ecspecially surprised by how well those condition sensitive 71's look!

So.... is this giveaway worth diving into? I bought one pack of 2010 Topps on a whim, got a redemption, and unlocked a 1952 Wayne Terwilliger. Looks like a neat card. Tempted to take delivery. How easy is it to get these redemption cards?
Nolan Ryan & Edgar Martinez are my favorite players...

  • Honestly, I would trade that for a nice grouping of 50's, 60's, and 70's cards as the earlier the cards get, it seems the worse condition they are sent to you in. You could post it on the MCG facebook site and see what type of offers you get for it and if you don't like any...just hang onto the card. The redemption cards can be had on Ebay for roughly 2 bucks per, but the larger the lot you buy, the cheaper it is for each individual card. Hope that helps

wow - someone just offered me this: image

    for a 1975 MVP card (1974)

  • Wish I got offers like that. All I ever see is:

2003 Mike Lansing for 1976 Tom Underwood (An exaggeration but not by much)

Okay, I have decided to change my focus with this giveaway, originally I was trying to load up on '71 commons. Now I have decided that that isn't the best idea considering how condition sensitive those cards tend to be, I'm just going to pick up my 71's elsewhere. So if you are looking for '71 commons on the MCG site please contact me. I like Reds (but that doesn't have to be everything you trade me) and I'm definitely willing to package a couple different cards to go down in years or taking a multi-card offer to give up a vintage card. It also seems that I have ended up with a couple earlier Pirates, so if that's your team let's work out a trade. Thanks!

here's a question, why do you have to scroll through all of your accepted trades to see the most recent??? this has to be slowing up the site, is there a way to see the newest back to the oldest???

and how do i copy a list like you guys without typing it? i only have 96 cards (started with 73 or something).

i am trying to trade for as many as possible 1969 and back, wiht particular care given to 58-59-60-61-63 so far so good its a lot of fun to trade your way back

    good luck all
    thanks

  • Unfortunately there is no way to view your completed trades opposite of what they are.

The way I make a tradelist is kinda time consuming, but I don't know any other way of doing it. I go through and type up the years I have then I go back through my collection and copy and paste the middle line (Name/Position/Team) to the corresponding year, although on certain cards where there are multiple possibilities for which card it could be I also add the card number (third line on the MCG site.) -Hope that helps

  • @reljack; 1993 DJ card is a heck of a card,.... I saw FB notes where you can put people on auto decline as traders, is that true?

(I have not had an offer from superfan for weeks and I was one of the few who rarely got offers from him)

@Jeff -- Yes I have cards like that as well. I'd be happy with a pre-78 "minor" star or recognizable name. Don't need a big name; just get me out of that 87 world image

  • I say we "superfan" superfan, ya know...send him a ton of crap offers for one of his cards. I know he currently has a '71 Lee May (he offered it to me for my '60 Claude Osteen) I'm tempted to offer him an '88 rose 60 times for that thing. Ahhh...good ol' revenge. Who's with me? image
  • I'm there -- offer on its way image

Buckeye -- I posted on the FB site about this; 1st person understood and laughed; the 2nd person (who I know is not Supe) was annoyed at the situation. I liked the 1st response better -- LOL

  • Rich: I saw your post about this on the facebook site and that you took some crap for it, I DEFINITELY do not agree with said person, but I'll just keep my opinions to myself and stay out of it. Sorry that gotcha in a disagreement...didn't mean to upset anybody by the notion I made.

I think Superfan straightened himself out. Maybe someone from Topps contacted him. I haven't seen a trade from him in quite while now that's more than 1 at a time. No more 30 trades of the same card for the same card anymore from him. His regular trades aren't very good but no worse than some of the other morons on there.
  • Does anyone know if a '59 Luis Aparicio All-Star is a prize card? I know you can check it by choosing shipping, but this card has been offered to me in a trade (so I cannot do that) for my Robin Yount auto. I would like to know this before contemplating the trade, any help is greatly appreciated. -Thanks
  • Don't worry about the comments aimed to me; the person with the negative comments refused to make "fair" offers for Phillies cards I had which I specifically offered to him. He used the SCD book for values of low #72's when I offered him a 71 he needed.

I made three attempts to get him cards; and none of them were responded with equal book value; so I basically told him not to waste my time,... which got him all huff,...

No biggie -- but I do feel a bit for those honest traders who got hammered, so I thought a little forewarning would make it clear why

OH well, this will blow over as well
