Good news (sort of). Computer still gone, briefcase still gone, 4 boxes of heritage commons gone, but the Robinson was found beneath the seats.

Wow Kurt, sorry about that. glad you rescued the robinson!

a tiny bit of silver lining, Curt - hopefully your other stuff is recovered. My wallet was stolen from my truck Wednesday morning - by Thursday afternoon, police in two different jurisdictions had recovered everything (after I spent two days canceling and replacing the contents of the wallet).

Thieves suck filthy a$$. No apologies will be offered for that statement.

Thanks everybody! Now, to start over again. You know, that Bumgarner black sure would ease my pain...

Bummer trip over. Carry on with more entertaining rips and news

  • Just went the local shop. We traded out a bunch of the 2010 topps inserts for some heritage. In 14 packs only one chrome, 3 sp's (inlcuding doubles of the burle AS) no refractors but really suprised with two stamps! Braun/Floyd 48/50 and Pence/ F Gutierrez 1/50.

Not a bad trade for 50 extra inserts! Is there a preimum for #1 of an insert?

(As a side note, If anyone can explain to me what I'm doing wrong with my scanner that causes the file size to always be too large to post I'd be happy to post some pics)

  • << <i>Remember that Robinson I HAD, well, yesterday I got a cortisone shot in my arm and it was hurting so bad that I just went inside and left my computer and briefcase with a bunch of cards I had/was going to list in the car.

My wife wakes up this morning to ask why a folder of mine was in the street. I go out and the damn window is smashed. The cop asks what is missing and I say my work computer and some baseball cards.

The cop than says "I think there are your cards" It rained last night. >>

That is unbelievable. Sorry to see this happened to you. Hang in there!
  • Thanks for the info on the scanning, lets see if this works ....
  • keep playing with the pixel amount until you get the right size, single cards might be more pixels but you got the hang of it,,, bj

  • I wanted to share with the class but I don"t know how to post the pictures so you can see them. Went and snatched up 4 boxes from a shop an hour from me. Along with a Pujols dice game, here are the major hits. They all came from the same box.

I was trolling eBay and found some new variations - J.A. Happ & Grady Sizemore. This brings us to 10 confirmed variations (not to mention the way more common dice backs). The Braves team card seems to be fairly common, too.

1 Albert Pujols base (green/yellow) & variation (all black)
    image

2 Joe Mauer base (yellow/red) & variation (all black)
    image

15 Grady Sizemore base (blue team) & variation (red team)
    imageimage

55 Pablo Sandoval base (blue team) & variation (green team)
    image

    77 J.A. Happ base (yellow team) & variation(blue team)
    imageimage

94 Zack Greinke base (orange team) & variation (blue team)
    image

215 Derek Jeter base (blue team) & variation (yellow team)
    imageimage

366 CC Sabathia base (red team) & variation (yellow team)
    imageimage

427 David Wright base base (orange team) & variation (yellow team)
    imageimage

463 Atlanta Braves Team - no picture here - one card is the Texeira All-Star, and the other is the Braves team card.

Here is a copy of both versions of #463

    image
  • Need a little help on identifying these multiple variations as I start sorting cards. I read somewhere that the Pujols variation has a white back. Does anyone know if all these variations have white backs or regular backs? I realize the David Wright is a SP so both versions should have a white back.

I've opened box 2 and box 3 from my case. Major pull on Box 2 was a Chris Carpenter Black refractor, Box 3 was a Teixeria Dice card. No ink yet. Ratios of chrome, refractors, inserts and SPs match up with what everyone else has been posting.
Pulled the Teixeria #463, hopefully my case will also have the Braves team card.

  • Local hobby shop is selling boxes this year for $75. Last year, they were $60 or $65.

I bought 4 packs of heritage to see what I thought. I like them!

I got one Chrome # 61 Latos. If anyone needs it, LMK. I would trade for a Chrome Dodger, or something else. I don't think I got anything else special... Ichiro MVP, and Pedroia MVP. I don't know the SPs yet, so, maybe I have some.

Ya and $75 a box comes out to $3.12 a pack (tax included?). I am a big fan of supporting our local card shops, but that is more than the MSRP of $2.99 a pack. The questions are: is there a true shortage of Heritage this year and if so are shops having to buy on the secondary market. My dealer is selling me a half case at $71.66 a box (tax of 8.25% included). I guess that would be around $66 a box, actually almost full MSRP. He is buying on the secondary market. Once retail arrives, I will check my local wholesale candy distributers to see what their price is. Usually Heritage Baseball is gone within a week.
I still have not opened a pack at this time. My half case is here and I will pick up tomorrow. Also expect my case to arrive Mon/Tues.
Question How many different blasters are there, three? Specials made for Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and then all other retail stores? Just curious. Also wonder what special inserts will be in those specialty blasters.

I have a friend who called me today and damn if he isn't lucky....It really is a friend and not me as I'd be dancing for joy. He opened the case of Heritage he got from Blow Out cards and on his first box got a good one. . He wondered if card 2 of 3 of Ruth's game worn pants (with pinstripe) is something good. Because he pulled it! Anyone have a clue on what the value of that would be??? I see picture of Ruth 3 of 3 posted in CU. He also had 3 auto's 3 Black Refractors and a maris ... O yes and 3 stamp cards in the case.
  • TNP777TNP777 Posts: 5,710 ✭✭✭
B - the SPs will have a much lighter back than the base. The only thee Dodger chromes are Kemp, Ethier and Kershaw.

John, I've been talking with Joe - we're thinking a couple of things: 1, that lone Maris chase card that snuck into Nick's case was probably meant for retail - I'm thinking Maris for Target and Mantle for Wal Mart (or vice versa). 2: some of autos don't seem to have surfaced - has anyone seen a blue Holliday? How about a blue Marichal (if he even signed any blue)? I haven't been tracking the autos all that closely, but those two stick out to us. Up until this morning, we hadn't seen a blue Jay Bruce either, but Joe texted me that he had seen one.

    Thoughts on this, guys?
  • kmnortonkmnorton Posts: 1,050 ✭✭✭
One big ommission I noticed was the Cain auto relic. Isn't it on the sell sheet? As for the Ruth, I think I saw one go for about 5 bills.

I just called my buddy something isn't right, there is a Ruth card on Ebay game worn pants 2/3 and i know it isn't him.
I see that there are Ruth chase pant's rilcs number to 3 i think maybe that's what he has.
  • I also noticed no blue auto of Holliday, and so far there has only been one red auto Gibson listed.
  • I'm kind of surprised at how little the stamps are bringing, am I the only one that think they are a really cool insert?
  • 86nova86nova Posts: 187 ✭✭
    John---

For what it is worth. Agree with Geordie. Believe there will be a 10 or 15 card chase set for Mantle and for Maris.

It makes sense with their cards being produced now in boxes, along with the Ruth chase cards. Also the Maris

card which leaked out seems to indicate that this could be the case. I would imagine Wallys & Target.

<< <i>Thank you Walt. I think still a nice pull for my buddy. I'd love to have it. >>

If I pulled one of those Ruths, I'd flip that thing as quick as I could & turn the profit into '52 high Dodgers. Yeah, that's just what I'd do.
  • Geordie, I think if you used money from selling a Yankees card to buy Dodgers cards it might offend the baseball gods and you would never have a good pull again. image
  • TNP777TNP777 Posts: 5,710 ✭✭✭
Doran, since a pull like that is a once in a lifetime kind of thing (unless you're Mike or Nick, that is), I'll take that deal in a heartbeat.
  • I'd flip it asap as well, but I'd throw the money right back into heritage packs......but that's because I'm an addict.
