It's just amazing that folks are buying these on Ebay for hundreds of percent over issue while they could just log on and buy one at issue price! Never ceases to amaze me.
I think that the flippers should sell fast at the set will peak early and then slowly go down as folks realize that there is nothing unique except for the (very, very nice) packaging. What do you all think about the secondary marked pricing performance of this one?
I'll likly git one of my Linkon Chronicels sets on eBay soon as I gits em Harv. (loved your post!!) :-)

That's not messed up, it's supposed to say that....Quick checkout used to lock at the place order screen followed by a blank confirmation screen, order history would show the order as having gone through, but it would disappear within 1/2 hour or so...Order suspended is normal see below from the US mint's FAQ section.......
Question What does "Your Order is Suspended" mean?
Answer Orders can be in a temporary status of; suspended (S), error (E) or held (H) during the normal order processing period. If your order is still in one of these statuses after 7 business days, please contact Customer Service at one of the numbers listed below.

You are right, but they should just remove the Quick checkout button if it still isn't working. But my fault for using it in the first place.
At any rate, I didn't want to risk waiting 7 days and losing the Lincoln C&C set, so I called the Mint and they very kindly canceled the suspended order and placed a new one for me.

Do you think they would still be available in 8-10 hours when he finally provides the information???
3317xxxx @ 1:25 EDT. Also had a couple of friends order two more around 2pm. I couldn't access the website so I started calling at 12:50. By 1:15 and after more than 40 redials I had a telephone rep place my order. Just after I gave her my CC# I was disconnected. 5 min. later and 10 redials I was back on with a Mint rep. and she confirmed my first order.
All 3 orders are on back order, but I am optimistic. I'll have no problem flipping one of these for $300+.

As far as eBay.. I can believe almost anything.. this guy was charging ten bucks just to tell people the US Mint has a Web site and someone actually bought it!?.. It shows one sold.. that's like telling people "for ten bucks I'll tell you how to get free books", take their money.. and then send them an email and say "go to a library"..
Anyway.. auction was ended a few minutes ago.. if someone had reported it, I'd think eBay would've yanked it..

Although the number of orders exceeds 50,000, the US Mint might be taking an additional 5 - 10% to account for order cancellations, duplicate orders in excess of the limit, and orders with credit card problems.
We might not see a sold out until Friday or Monday.

Unless things have changed, this is the type of ebay auction that could easily go POOF if/when reported. They are not selling anything tangible. Now, if they said "I will send you a sheet, and email you the answer as well", then I think it would pass ebay muster.

You are probably right, backorder 11/13/09 might be fulfilled if someone cancels their order.
This whole affair should show up in Dave Harper's (Editor of NN) column tomorrow.. I think he has a hotline to someone at The Mint, as his Friday newsletters usually have a link to the past week's Mint Statistics.. so if the set sold out on Thursday, he might already have that information and publish it.. then again, he might not.. if he doesn't.. have.. that information..
But for all intents and purposes, it looks like it went well over 50,000 units ordered.. and I'd expect to see "Product is not available" appear some time on Friday.. then again, I'd expect my lotto tickets would pay off once in a while.. so who knows.. but I think that's why they changed the estimated shipping date a couple of hours ago, to 11/13/2009, as they wait for cancellations, sort through invalid CCs, cancel orders from people who broke the "one per household" limit rule, and so on..
I'm gonna spew another wild hunch.. when these show up in dealer print ads in CW and NN, in either the next isssue, or the one after that, dealers will slap a $175.00 to $250.00 price on them.. I might be low.. I might be high.. ooh.. look at the pretty paisley horsie!.. but that's my w.a.g. for whatever it's worth..
And so.. to bed..

it seems the shipping dept is cleverly making their shipping targets shorter by submitting the billing info to the shippers but sometimes turnng the packages over to the shipper the next day.
you may get that tracking number or shipping e-mail... but it may not be in the shipper's hands until the next day.

It now says "This listing has ended." I guess either someone reported him or there were already 10 people out there willing to pay him $10.00 for an email listing the Mint web site's addy?

I think that the end of the line is near.

From the wording of the fb, I suspect that they mutually agreed not to complete the auction. (You need to learn "to read between the lines")

not all orders did so. Add to that canceled orders for
a variety of reasons and we still have a short ways to go.
I am sure that the Mint only has a portion of the sets near
assembly and the last portion will be assembled after the
final numbers are set. I still believe that sometime on Friday
the set will be fully accounted for.
