    << <i>Score!!

UPS dropped off my pack at 6 pm tonight and although I can't see the name on the sticker the wordage I can make out indicates it is the Jordan sticker (I have a SGC 96 one already)!! The card showing on top is Alvin Adams (card #2) so if I read Steve's post right the next card in that sequence would be Kareem. We'll never know as I going to leave it sealed. image

    John >>

I just re-read Steve's post about the "plus 66" sequence. Since #2 is showing on top, the other sequence of 6 cards would start with #68. Drum roll please.....

    #68 is Karl Malone image

John ... would that also mean the card after Kareem is the checklist? Hmm ... could be interesting! >>

Hopefully but I have no idea if that's how it worked when you jumped past #1. If it is the next card would be James Worthy image

agggggggggggggh, the pressure to rip is mounting image

If the math works out, 3 cards would help me with some registry sets (Malone RC, Worthy RC, Kareem basic set) plus that damn Jordan sticker.

The only thing holding me back is they could be all OC image

if you haven't ripped your pack yet, i would consider slabbing and selling,
    if you are thinking economically,
but i cant even afford a pack,
    so i will go now

Not even thinking about the economics, I'm a pack hoarder, have around 100 graded wax/cello/rack packs from 1967 thru 1976 plus probably double that (raw) from the 70's and 80's.

Thankfully I already have the cards mention except Worthy although my Kareem would be lucky to get a 7 due to corner wear and the CL I have is O/C.

OAKESY ... I'm with John on the pack collecting. As my sig line states I USED to have a real nice unopened collection!

HOWEVER, due to the fact that it seems like John MAY have a Jordan Sticker ... Karl Malone ... Checklist ... James Worthy ... I say YA GOTTA RIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDITED TO ADD: And a KAREEM!!!

Well it helps that I have the complete sets already for 99% of the packs but whenever I was lucky enough to win a lot of same year/series I usually opened one or more.

Here are some of the better pulls:

PSA 9 1970 Pete Rose from a 6th series wax pack
PSA 8 AND a PSA 9 OC Rose from a 1971 rack pack (also got 2 Davey Concepcions)
1972 Reggie Jackson and Johnny Bench from a 1972 rack pack (plus their IA cards I think), this was a easy one to open as it was almost split in two
3 1972 Roger Staubach rookie cards but they all were OC image
1973 Pete Rose, mint corners but OC (does anyone noticed a Rose theme, LOL)

    Philipjg -

Your best bet is to just send the packs to PSA - they is a very good chance your packs will pull 9's and those should sell very well on ebay! You'd even be able to make some $$$ on the sales.

It would only cost you $24 to have the 2 packs graded.

If you really don't want to do the above I might be willing to buy them from you and I'll do it...

that's the point of getting the graded, i suppose. the packs are straight out of the box. whole process has no interest for me. I was in it for the excitement of the rip, but now we're down to hoping for 'niques and checklists. more or less. so, if anyone wants to deal with psa and make a profit, i'll sell em for what we paid and move on.

there are many cards in that set that are harder to get a 10 on than Jordan. I would say about 120 more.

This doesn't reflect well on PSA. Ridiculous. Makes you wonder how often they're wrong on calling cards trimmed.

I guess you should change the thread title to 1.9 Jordan so far.
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
