Thank you. I'm keeping the 2nd PCGS FS UHR graded. I gave the first PCGS FS UHR to a faimily member that needed some help. He now has my better camera and should be posting better pictures soon. That is EBAY # 120387517794.
EBAY seller "TONEDCOINSHOW" is not selling my coins. These 2 auctions were pointed out to me only because he copied the picture from the PCGS article. >>
You're a good guy CharlieC, as a suggestion, I wouldn't ship that coin via priority mail as it states in that listing..., only USPS Registered mail.
A wise old sage told me to believe half of what I see and none of what I hear.
Based on that, I believe less than none of the sausage in your head
I'd really like to see an official statement of where they were struck. >>
That wise old sage is right, but all he has is wisdom.
You asked a question, and I answered it. I did not require you to believe it. It is your responsibility to determine if you want to believe it or not or to pursue further verification. Either way, I don't care. Next time, call the bloody mint if it's that important to you. It's all good.
Just called the Mint's 800 number to ask about my order. I know that the people who answer the phone don't work for the Mint and my expectations were pretty low based on posts here.
My expectations were met. The only thing they would tell me about my order is what the web site says. She wouldn't even take my order number.
I also had to use the "Place an Order" prompt because the other one just says they are busy and to try later (which I did for the last 3 days).
I'd keep playing. I don't think the heavy stuff will be coming down for quite a while!
Ahh, the voice of reason and a person of ACTION. Thanks Res. Too bad that wise old sage didn't have internet access. It's also nice to know that my memory serves me well.
<< <i>I just received my UHR today and it looks great. The insert holder has a few minor chips in the wood or lacquered surface but nothing is ever completely perfect.
Advice please: I purchased this as a collectible to enjoy owning, not a for a quick profit. However, I am still thinking about sending it in to PCGS, but I didn't want to get caught up in the first strike hype. Assuming, like me, you only have one of these, is it foolish NOT to send it in before the FS deadline? >>
You bought it to enjoy it, so enjoy it. Touch it, feel it, sleep with it, do with it whatever makes you enjoy it more. Now, as a practical matter, consider enjoying it in a First Strike slab cuz you can only get first strike now and you can always take it out of the slab later if you want or swap it for one that is not slabbed. Whatever you do, you must thoroughly enjoy it because not only is it a great coin but a work of art and the legacy of St. Gaudens. >>

I absolutely liked my UHR's design, though I wish it were the original's size. But, I ordered it for the coin it is and the design, and am very happy with how it looks, in general. (unhappy due to the scratch and black specks and smudges, otherwise love the coin.)
Bottom Line:
If another UHR designed coin is made ... should we start asking the congress/mint now to make one with the original dimensions?
(and if they want to make a uhr available to the masses, a few hundred dollar palladium coin won't do it these days. )

My 'Pick #' was VOIDED!! I am very concerned that what this means is that they have no more UHRs to ship until the Mint starts another batch.

This is what I have been worried about all week. Have they really run out of stock? What say the Forum??
You know, I'm torn about whether or not to send mine back. The fields and details on mine are all superb - it's the rim above States of America that has the flaws. They don't really distract, but clearly it isn't perfect. It does have some die polish, but only visible when tilted the right way. Overall, though, the coin is beautiful. No, it wouldn't likely merit a 70, but I'm sure it would score a 69. I think I'll keep it as is. I'm just afraid that the replacement wouldn't be any better, or heaven forbid, I would get Ms M's greasy slug!
