hunt out that 3088xxxx order number that was received on 3/3 and call. tell them you need to be put in the front of the line. you have time to call them tonight.

and now that they are probably receiving fewer heated calls, if you point out the oversight perhapsthey'll pass your order number through the channels.

Please tell me what the next hot item is, I don't see any coming down the pike. The last year has been very unique and I don't expect to see a repeat for many years.

  • PBGS can ship all these other coins, but for some inexplicable reason they simply cannot ship the damn UHR. The shipments certainly are getting thinner and thinner, and after Friday these UHRs are gonna trickle ship!

even non-first strike buffalo proofs seem to be doing well.

I get 3 a year for my personal stash. If they did not go PR70 I flipped them and picked up 70s; I had to pay the difference for 1 in 2006 and 2007. This is the first year I submitted for FS and hit 3 70s. A $50 2008 FS will fetch $2100. Way better than the 401k.

I'm curious... how does this guy wind up with 20 UHRDE's to send to NGC all at the same time?

    Gaming the system?

    Greed?

    Profiteering?

Having a relative pop for one or two is one thing, but this is too over the top... somebody turn this into a link for me?

An employee of mine was getting fed up with the mint. She called and reamed them a new one (or maybe two....) - The UHR showed up today via overnight mail WELL ahead of the "promised" new (but delayed) date. image

  • It was quite the crawl tonight; I don't think it could have gone any slower.

Is PBGS done shipping all the UHRs that they have in stock?

Are we now waiting on the Mint to finish another batch before any more UHRs are shipped?

I'm done; stick a fork in me.

    G'nite!

So I just got home after being away since Sunday. According to UPS, my UHR was delivered AND signed for by me some time yesterday, when I was on the opposite side of the country. I had mentioned my situation to a few neighbors, and was hoping one of them had picked it up. But no one had called me, and one guy I DID call said he hadn't seen anything.

Anyway, when I came home last night, the box was sitting by my apartment door. Fortunately, I have honest neighbors. Don't know if the UPS guy let himself into our secure apt building and signed for it himself, or what.

I'm going to be driving this baby (and it's twin that's waiting for me at my PO box) down to Santa Ana to PCGS tomorrow.

I noticed that all of the pictures that people have taken so far have been (sorry folks) rather blurry and indistinct. They've also usually been IN the display box, so one picture looks pretty much like any other, and you have no sense of scale. Being the lazy fool I am, I tried snapping a few pix with my point & shoot, but I couldn't get good focus. So I broke out my dSLR, which had no problem. And, to give a sense of scale, I shot the UHR on a Presidential dollar proof set. I think the UHR is about the same size as the golden dollar (it's bigger than a quarter, but smaller than a half dollar). What's interesting is that in regular lighting, the golden dollars look about the same color as the UHR. But under my flash, they don't look at all alike.

    Enjoy!

Have to wonder if this person has the coins he is selling. Asked for a cert # and he declined to give one. Said he would give that to the winner. IS THIS PERSON A BOARD MEMBER? Say what you will on the pictures. They are not good. New camera in hand today. If it sells it sells.

Thank you. I'm keeping the 2nd PCGS FS UHR graded. I gave the first PCGS FS UHR to a faimily member that needed some help. He now has my better camera and should be posting better pictures soon. That is EBAY # 120387517794.

EBAY seller "TONEDCOINSHOW" is not selling my coins. These 2 auctions were pointed out to me only because he copied the picture
    from the PCGS article.

  • So are there any picture royalties to be paid?
  • Great question to ask PCGS who owns the pictures.
The picture is of my coin, not is, but it belongs to PCGS.

I don't think pcgs isn't going to clean a coin and risk damaging it.

I didn't talk to a grader, but i was told it's hard to say without seeing the coin. the person said it could get a lower grade or maybe a 'no grade - environmental damage.' hard to say.

took it to a local dealer who was entirely non-commital about it.

I just received my UHR today and it looks great.
The insert holder has a few minor chips in the wood or lacquered surface but nothing is ever completely perfect.

    Advice please:
I purchased this as a collectible to enjoy owning, not a for a quick profit. However, I am still thinking about sending it in to PCGS, but I didn't want to get caught up in the first strike hype.
Assuming, like me, you only have one of these, is it foolish NOT to send it in before the FS deadline?

    MsMorrisine, that's true.
The issue for me is the fact that many do not. Therefore, down the road, those who care will pay the extra price.
    Maybe not.

You bought it to enjoy it, so enjoy it. Touch it, feel it, sleep with it, do with it whatever makes you enjoy it more. Now, as a practical matter, consider enjoying it in a First Strike slab cuz you can only get first strike now and you can always take it out of the slab later if you want or swap it for one that is not slabbed. Whatever you do, you must thoroughly enjoy it because not only is it a great coin but a work of art and the legacy of St. Gaudens.

what happened to the official box hinge thread?

I took my box apart to find out where the hinges were minted and didn't find a mint mark on it either.

Charlie you need to complain to FeePay if someone is representing their coin as the 1st FS graded. That is some unscrupulousimage bs!
There is no telling how much the provenance of that coin will be worth going forward; it should be defended.

Additionally, I think its great that you gave that coin to a family in need. If that coin were mine I would (gamble) see how this FS thing plays out before I sold it. There could be huge demand for for FS 70s, let alone the first one gradedimage
