I had thought part of the cost increase for "1st strike" was including returning of the original materials? It used to cost $2 per, to get originals returned. You could ask customer service and also include the request on the paperwork....
Damn, the Board's been busy today. Several screens back, I saw reference to Raleigh, NC. Are "ya'll" in God's country? I'm just off Falls Lake (with full Protective Service" if you have any thoughts of runnin' after my UHR). Where do ya live?

Not a big deal if I didn't get it back but I assume the capsule is unique for the UHR.

I know Raleigh/Durham well. Haven't been there in fifteen years, but yes it is a beautiful state from the dunes of kitty hawk to the mountains of asheville and all in between....oh and i did get one UHR tonight.....hoooraaaa
Ok people. It's midnight. Mint is closed. Everybody gota bed. Tomorra's a new day.
If this night was any slower, we would all be going backwards.
I did get one UHR # 30836xxx, and of course this was ordered on the first day at 1:10 p.m. AFTER I ordered the first two. FIFO my a$$.
Damn was it slow tonight. I do believe these orders are slowing down not just because people have given up with nocturnal monitoring but more so that the Mint/PBGS is running out of UHR stock to deliver. After this Friday, UHR shipments are gonna be a dribble.
Maybe we need a sacrifice to the Coin God. Can somebody here make that happen?
Good news tomorrow for Agentjim, baron, rgcoin, and smokincoin.
Until then, g'nite.
EDIT: Oops. thanx crypto. no, i didn't receive the UHR, i meant to say i received the email that she's comin
I think they made a mistake by using .999 gold on this coin. The color makes it look so generic. If the the original mixture used on classic gold with silver and copper in the mix it would have had the right color to really set off this coin and it would have larger if they used 1 ounce of gold and used this mixture.
I have mine. I was tempted to send in for First Strike but it won't make a 70, so will keep it raw. Its a beautiful coin. I don't see how you can keep this sealed in the shipping box also. Very easy to open with just moving the flap. There is no tape around the shipping box.

I can understand if you are no longer following this thread. On the off chance that you are, just curious if you were able to identify how long it took for your coin to get to you via USPS once it left the fulfillment center? Others have estimated that deliveries to PO Boxes take 10 days. Did you have a shorter time? If in fact the new piggyback USPS shipping via Fed Ex Smart Post is not requiring the use of registered mail then that might be allowing for much faster deliveries to PO Boxes? Did your PO Box delivered UHR come via Registered Mail or merely a delivery confirmation?

Hello, I live near Ten Ten rd. I hope I get my email today. 1 down 1 to go.
I ran home for a few minutes from work and found my UHR and my Lincolns. When I finally got to look at my coins I noticed what I thought was a blemish on Abe's nose. The I thought it might be grease. The I viewed it under magnification and saw that it was a blemishin in the holder. I turned it so the blemish was closer to the eye because it looked like a big pimple on his nose. Nice coin.
Onto the UHR. The UPS guy hid mine behind my shovel. Smart. Here is the good and the bad. The box is real nice and of very good quality but it is a bit too big. It won't fit into my safe unless I remove a shelf. The box smells amazing. Like a new guitar if you've ever bought one. The coin is stunning. I like the reverse better than the obverse but just a little. I thought I had a tiny scratch on the capsule but it is a small ding on the coin, on the reverse, on the sun. Too bad. I never intended to have it graded and nobody else who has looked at it has seen it but its there especially under magnification. I am about 75 percent satisified now which is sad because I've never been anything but 100% satisfied with the Mint previously. If the Mint was more efficient I might return it and try for a better one but it is still a very special coin.
Advice needed. Should I keep the white liner that fits around the wooden box between the blue box and the wood box? What are you doing?
I hope everybody else gets theirs soon. Great thread. GReat the way you all supported each other during this debacle.
Yes keep the liner. If its a pain to view the coin because of the liner fold it up and put it to the side. If and when you go to sell it it will be nicer to have it exactly as issued.
I was told by a dealer that if the package itself is not in the PCGS building by MArch 11th opened or not, it is not eligable for first strike at PCGS, apparently NGC already works this way. Anyone know?
The coin looks cool (just like the "real" one from 1907 at the Smithsonian), however, note the "rim dings" at the top of the reverse. This appears to have resulted from the minting process, but it is unattractive nontheless.
Should I return it for a replacement? This seems to be poor quality for a coin the Mint is charging a $300+ dollar premium for.
