UPS tracking still says could not locate details, bummer, looks like it will be tomorrow for delivery, darn it dang it dog it, I was really really really hoping it would come today. It was going to be a candle light dinner with just me and my UHR
I get the same from UPS tracking on mine, too. I don't think they update the system until a big batch run later in the day. My UPS tracking numbers have never posted until the evenings in the past. I'm still expecting my UHR to be delivered tomorrow. I'll be waiting out front, ready to catch it when Big Brown throws it over the gate...
I was trying to track my UHR with UPS and i could not find it. You will never believe this. I went into USPS and i am tracking it. It was in Indy at 1:15 AM. Why USPS? I just got off the telephone with the mint. I have it expedited on my order and they sent it out USPS. The lady does not know why. She says it should have been shipped like all the others. Mine is the only one that she knows of being shipped out USPS. I will probably get it within 7 to 10 days. Why did i know that making all those calls and sending all those faxes would come back and kick me in the Arrrs?

That is the only way I know of where they would ship it USPS.

Wednesday, March 4, 2009 More UHR Double Eagles Arriving Posted by: Michael | Posted in: Ultra High Relief , US Mint
More collectors are reporting that their 2009 Ultra High Relief Double Eagle Gold Coins have arrived or are shipping. This now includes collectors who placed the orders on the first day of sales.
Although the US Mint has stated that orders would be shipped on a "first-come, first-served" basis, it's still not clear whether there is any rhyme or reason to their shipping. Over the weekend, I wrote a post regarding the order of shipments and included a survey to try to determine which customers were receiving their coins. I closed the survey this morning and present the results below.
Total Received Coin Percent Ordered in the first hour 245 20 8.16%
Ordered after the first hour, but in first day 163 7 4.29%
Ordered on the second day 23 13 56.52%
Ordered after the second day 30 10 33.33%
Dates Coin Received Ordered in the first hour 2/9, 2/11, 2/25, 2/26, 2/27, 3/2 (5), 3/3 (9) Ordered after the first hour, but in first day 2/25 (3), 2/26, 2/27 (2), 3/3 Ordered on the second day 2/25, 2/26, 2/27 (6), 2/28, 3/2 Ordered after the second day 2/27 (3), 2/28 (2), 3/2 (5)
Based on this survey, a much greater percentage of people who ordered their coins on the second day or after the second day have received their coins than people who ordered in the first hour or first day. This trend is starting to reverse as more people who ordered within the first hour are finally receiving their coins. Of the twenty people in the "first hour" category who received coins, 14 of them were received in the past two days.
Based on the data and the dates reported, we can try to reverse engineer what may have happened. Initially, customers who ordered coins first were receiving coins first. This is supported by the 2/9 and 2/11 receipt dates for customers who placed orders in the first hour. No customers who ordered after the first hour reported receipt dates this early.
After a two week lapse, shipping resumed but coins were shipped to customers across every category, most heavily for the "second day" and "after the second day" categories. Ironically, this took place after the US Mint's email which specifically stated that coins would be shipped on a first-come, first-served basis.
Also of note, customers receiving their coins over the past few days are still reporting that UPS is dropping the packages on their doorsteps with no signature requirement.
As more collectors have their Ultra High Relief Double Eagles in hand, some of the negativity about the US Mint seems to be subsiding. However, I don't think waiting for the coins was what upset most people-- from the outset customers were warned that it might take six to nine months to deliver. What upset customers was the barrage of emails providing conflicting shipping dates, shipment and website security issues, the inability to get satisfactory answers by phone, and the overall lack of communication.
The US Mint might see a temporary respite from customer complaints because they have shipped their coins, but they have not really addressed the underlying issues and broader issues which caused most of the recent problems. When I wrote the post Message to the US Mint: Your Customers Are Not Happy, I intentionally tried to play up these larger issues which have not gone away in the least.

So based on this survey, if I order today, I might get this faster than those who ordered the first day?
With all the coins shipping, the First Strike label may be useless.
What happen with the guy (Charlie?) who got the first one graded by PCGS? Did he flip it for the BIG $$ or is he sitting on it watching all the other orders come in and headed for the First Strike label? That thing was a hot potato then and it may have cooled now.
<< <i>Yes PO Box. The lady said it was picked up by Fed Ex smart post. Whatever that is. Does anyone know how long that takes to be delivered? >>
I find it appaling that the PBGS Reps don't even know their own shipping terms. You are not the only one who their UHR shipped in this manner. If you have your order delivered to a USPS POB, then it is delivered by USPS with an intermediary shipper, FedEx. This shipping method takes approximately 10 days for delivery.
lol its a mess, no signatures being required (was required here overseas thankfully)
Shipping to Australia for my pres proof sets shows a tracking page longer than your arm, it goes on forever. The shipment took over a week, Fedex was 3 day.

Yay? I dunno, I'm sort of unimpressed by it. UPS delivered it at 10:45 this morning and it pretty much had to sit on my doorstop until I got home. Although the UHR was still in the capsule - the capsule was loose in the box.
I really find myself wanting to sink my teeth into it as it looks so soft.

"Mint to Resume Signature Req By March 13 Wednesday March 4, 2009
Maybe today will be the Big Day when we get some statements from the U.S. Mint about long outstanding issues. I found this in my email this morning from the Mint's Office of Public Affairs:
The United States Mint does not currently require delivery signature for packages. However, due to customer demand, the United States Mint is reinstating its former policy of requiring delivery signatures for all packages valued at $300 or more. In addition to reinstating the signature confirmation on orders of $300 or more, delivery signatures will be required for all packages containing precious metals (platinum, gold and silver coins, not including the United States Mint Silver Proof Set™ and Silver Quarters Proof Sets). We expect to have the signature requirement in effect by Friday, March 13, 2009.
Of course, we'd all like to know the answer to why the Mint dropped the signature requirement, but I'm not sure we'll ever get the answer to that, especially if it involves human error or the bad judgment of a Mint product manager or something similar. In any case, anyone who was worried about finding thousand dollar coin orders left lying on their doorstep will soon sleep a bit easier.
In fact, the Mint may already be imposing the new signature requirement. This morning, reader "rtc" posted the following:
2009 03-04W Just some info for you all. I placed my order on 01-22-09Tu at 12:07pm. I got my UHRDE last night about 8pm via UPS w/signature. Wrote PCGS. The first strike cutoff is 03-11-09W. Tracking indicates my UHR was delivered 3/3 at 9:10am but it is no where to be found. Freaking out right now.
That and the fact that my Lincoln commems arrived Sat while I was out of town, were left on the doorstep and had 6 inches of snow on them when I got them Monday (but at least they were there).
UHR received, saga's over and signature required in San Diego. UPS driver stated he was under special orders that my package had to be delivered before 10:30am. Guess UPS, PB and the Mint are feeling the pressure from all you guys.

I'm really fighting over this.
I want to submit it for grading, but I'm uncomfortable with the grease on it.
everything I read says don't clean it and some are in the field.
on the other hand they are small bits of grease.
I think the silence so far on the issue is my clue.
what effect would not cleaning it have on the grade vs. cleaning it and screwing it up vs. cleaning it off ?

If you can't blow it off, do not attempt to clean it unless you know the exact nature of the foreign substance.
I would send it to PCGS; they will take care of it. Roll the dice; I do believe you will be fine.
I got one first 15 minutes, not here yet.
I got my boss and sister to get one hours later, they both have theirs.
I can't stand it! Well at least they can flip them. Wait I mean I can do the work and they can get the profit!
C'mon mint gimme me gold!
I would jump out my window, but there is only one floor.
