I know but I know that their system will show any tracking numbers, so I call... plus it's a vote cast, a la american idol, against their service levels.
I get the feeling they are thinking things are getting straightened out... I like to remind them.... but mostly it's to get any tracking numbers. I have another order for direct ships delayed as well. that one is more likely to go out sometime soon.
What really sucks is the obsession many of you have with the race for "first strike." We would all breathe easier if it made no difference whatsoever. Unfortunately, for some bizarre, inexplicable reason, it makes a big difference. I will have to "settle" for the less desirable late strike or after the fact strike or strike out strike or better luck next time strike or close to first strike or stricken strike. I've got a great idea; how about first strike runner up? Like many of you, I was among the earliest orders, but I never planned on rushing the coin in for the exalted "first strike" status. If I did, I would also be angry, and justifiably so. All joking aside, I feel your pain.
Received my coin today.. Guys when you get your coin you might not be happy.. Coin is beautiful expect for the little brush scratches on the planchet.. If you turn the coin at a angle they vanish and the rim edge has flailing just like the other coin shown earlier on this thread..
I just don't know if it is going to pass for a 70 grade.. Box was packed nice, little bend in box, like a squeeze force crimp, but the damn coin was not in the socket and was flipped over on the reverse.
So I just don't know, I calling PCGS today to find out my options.

perhaps lots of pictures of battered coins will help mint realize their production quality is slipping.
should this continue... I just can't help but think of how many returns I'll have to go through before getting anything decent... and then there is a point at which one must decide to keep one, any one, before they stop selling them between the month long ship dates you reported.

U S Mint
Anyone:
I know you have been asked this question a thousand times already but I am asking it again. Why is it that no one can give an honest answer to the question of, I ordered my UHR from the mint within the first hour along with possibly 10,000 others and none of ours have been shipped and individuals who ordered the next day have received their coin? The mint has always had the policy of first-in first-out and now there is no such thing. All I am asking is an honest answer to my question. Will my coin and the coins of the other people who patiently waited on the computer or telephone for at least an hour receive their coins this week ? Someone in the upper management of the U S Mint should be able to say YES or NO. I would appreciate a response.

United States Mint Selects Pitney Bowes Government Solutions For Call Center and Fulfillment Services
WASHINGTON, DC, November 18, 2008 – Pitney Bowes Government Solutions, Inc. (PBGS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE PBI), has been selected by the United States Mint to provide call center and fulfillment operations services in support of the United States Mints multi channel retail sales program for numismatic products. As a bureau of the Department of the Treasury, the United States Mint designs, mints, sells and delivers quality numismatic collectible coin products.
“We are very pleased to be working with the United States Mint,” said Jon Love, president, PBGS. “Our ability to implement technology enhancements, coupled with our expertise in freight and shipping management, will help the United States Mint control costs and optimize business processes for its numismatic program.”
Love noted that PBGS will receive and process nearly three million numismatic product orders per year at a dedicated fulfillment center in the mid west.
Pitney Bowes Government Solutions helps federal government agencies achieve their mission‐critical objectives by delivering world-class mailstream services. Pitney Bowes Inc. is a mailstream technology company that helps organizations manage the flow of information, mail, documents and packages. Our 36,000 employees deliver technology, service and innovation to more than two million customers worldwide. The company was founded in 1920 and annual revenues now total $6.4 billion.
As a company, Pitney Bowes is a pure example of innovation leveraging assets to drive growth in new markets. The company offers solutions from data integration software and print stream engineering to Web-based marketing and personalized communications to make it easier for companies to increase sales, cut costs and make better business decisions.
Customer support takes on many different faces and forms as it migrates through a variety of industries. One thing that remains constant is that if a customer feels less than appreciated by a company, he or she is much more likely to look elsewhere to spend their money.
The Mint’s retail sales program for numismatic products is targeting specific customers with a unique product, but it is one that consumers can live without. Therefore, a clear customer-centric support process must be in place to protect the base and effectively grow over time.
Wow, I'm very confused by this entire ordeal. No one has responded to any of my calls, voicemails or emails. No wonder why this country is in such a financial mess because these sr execs dont give a sh@# about anything except their $50 million in bonus $$$$.
I'm giving the US Mint and PBGS until next Friday to either contact me about this pathetic situation, ship my coin or I will cancel the order. I refuse to support an entity who treats their loyal customer base like a bunch of idiots. Wow, blown away by the lack of customer service throught out this mess!

yup... no one wants to take ownership. the best job skill is skillful avoidance these days.
and, like i was saying, they may not care, but those phone reps seem to be thinking stuff is improving over there.
this is a simpler issue that resumption of shipping or signatures.
if they can't figure this one out, then pbgs is just as incompetent as before with the only change having been beaten into them from someone who at least realized that shipping nothing is bad.
I guess not giving a !@$#$@# and shipping any !@$#'ing thing in any #$%$ order isn't a metric they measure... so who gives a !$@$#@.
I'm giving them a limited time, cancelling my order, then boycotting the coin I want so badly.
Due to the quality of the coins that have been delivered so far I have canceled my order and will wait and buy mine at a show where I have coin in hand and I don't have to worry about the low grade coins that the mint is sending out. I wish you guys all the best. Good Luck.

I used to say stuff like this when I was a kid at the dinner table complaining about the food. My mom would just say, "don't eat, that leaves more for the rest of us". Then I'd see 8 brothers and six sisters sitting there wtih a fork in their hand , eating quietly.
That's when I decided to learn how to type so I could tell the world how much I hate sauer kraut.
Don't cancel your orders now; don't give up. At least wait until March 11, and if u feel the same then cancel it or better yet sell it. You've already made $150. With respect to the unreliable quantity INXS, if you don't like the UHR you receive from the Mint then return it and buy another at a show. Don't make me reach through this thread and smack some sense in ya all!
hmmmm.... I guess contacting the Treasury Dept. Inspector General's Office might help at this point.
As well as those sponsoring the new UHR Palladium coin. If they new people were cancelling orders because of the mint's failings, then they might get the mint and pbgs off their butts.
perhaps we can let them know to drop their UHR-P bills since the mint is falling down on its mission to deliver the UHR coin.
I will as well, up to a point... the mint needs to feel they are wrong or doing a poor job or there won't begin to be change. if it takes cancelled orders, then that will be that. Of course, if the media is aware of the reasoning and publishes, that'd be a big help.
(pictures are worth a thousand words)
don't forget the next first spouse ''release'' is March 5th. i'm sure fifo will be an issue there to some degree, too.
My coin looks better in hand than in that image I posted.... I'm going to keep it and not risk sending it back and not getting a return or one that is worse. I 've 29 more days to deciede for sure.
Like I said before, the box is nice. High DCam... It'd get a green sticker.
Notice the reflection of my pearl handled letter opener on the front. It's about 12 inches from the box.
Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your perspective), I don't think we'll see the same issues with the next First Spouse. The demand just isn't there. Look at the numbers for the last few spouses - they're just a few thousand at best. They could use illiterate, blind lepers to pack them and the Pony Express to send them and I think you'll be fine.

I'm still fighting the fight; I'm on hold with the Mint now for 25 minutes. I'm waiting to speak with my secret contact. Meanwhile, I'm nervous that I might miss my girlfriend on Ghost Whisperer.

and hopefully others will post pictures showing displeasure with the quality of their coins.

We are not eating. This is true. I was using simile as a way of trying to explain that no matter how much we squawk or complain, it really isn't going to do much good and if we cancel our order, we are the ones who miss out on that which we were starving for in the first place. (FOOD/GOLD) Where were you before the UHR ? This coin should be a real winner down the road. We haven't gotten the coin and you sound like Rosa Parks pissed off about sitting at the back of the bus. It's pathetic if you read it from my eyes.
These people have to follow protocol and the logistics of moving their distribution operation was significant. Maybe eating in the pouring rain out of a mermite on a paper plate , standing in the mud in a foreign country made me a little tougher and able to appreciate standing in a line for food at Garrison... I don't know. I don't mean to sound cruel or mean, but the complaining is disgusting. Honestly. Pick a better cause to fight for. You have great stage presence. It's not a do or die situation here. Is it ? Calm down.

Edit - no offense intended to all of the illiterate, blind lepers out there >>
it may not affect us that much, but I'm sure they'll still screw it up...
I'm still fighting the fight; I'm on hold with the Mint now for 25 minutes. I'm waiting to speak with my secret contact. Meanwhile, I'm nervous that I might miss my girlfriend on Ghost Whisperer.
<< <i>no one is eating, we are consumers sick of being jerked around.
there are now two with the cancel plan. hopefully more follow to show the displeasure with the bad service from other people.
and hopefully others will post pictures showing displeasure with the quality of their coins.
If the food and service were this bad at a restaurant, a kid would notice. >>
We are not eating. This is true. I was using simile as a way of trying to explain that no matter how much we squawk or complain, it really isn't going to do much good and if we cancel our order, we are the ones who miss out on that which we were starving for in the first place. (FOOD/GOLD)
Where were you before the UHR ?
Is it ? Calm down.

If you want to pay for crap goods and crap service, then feel free. There of those of us that try do something about both, and this is a governmental issue, to boot.

at univeristy we had many ex-military.
one told me of how they had to order the entire steering column for the 2-1/2 ton truck just to replace the frequently breaking horn switch.
you can buy steering columns, I'm going to press (ha!) for horn switches.
OMG!! I hear dead people !
Oh no, that's just the customer service reps at the Mint. Ain't that somethin?
My secret contact at the Mint is at 'lunch' so I have to call back at 9.
