New to boards been lurking for years actually belong to the old forms somehow never got switched over to the new forms. Ordered my UHR January 22 within the first hour like a lot of people here. I've read every post posted in this thread. My credit card got hit on February 18 and disappeared February 25. I have not called anybody until last night Thursday. At 9:50 p.m. Eastern time I got an e-mail from the US mint stating that my order number 30838xxx had been shipped. About time right guess what this is what they shipped
1. 2008 AE SILVER UNC MM 1 OZ (Z8F) Qty : 1 and they do not know how this happened. They said my UHR is still in process and that this will not cancel it out Can It Get Any Better.

Just got off the telephone with the public affairs office and the ladys last comment was " we are aware of the problem and we are looking into it. You and everyone else just have to be patient and not worry about it. My husband told me to cancel my order and forget it. I told him no way. This is not about the coin any longer. This is about another pathetically run government operation.
So I call, wait about 20 min on hold, she comes on, I say I’d like to check on my order, she says is it the UHR. I say yes, she recites the email tag lines.
I start to tell her that people who ordered the second day are getting there coins and I ordered in the first hour and I didn’t get mine.
This lady starts to talk over me, I have to stop and explain to her that it very rude for a customer service rep to talk over someone on the phone. She lets me finish.
Part of what I say is that people who ordered the second day are getting there coins and I ordered in the first hour and I didn’t get mine. She tells me something like, that’s what I say, she hasn’t heard that. Calling me a Liar. Like I’m making this up. So I inform her that she is Insulting my intelligence and calling me a liar, that’s not very good customer service, I’m just calling about my coin and I don’t deserve this kind of treatment.
So I recite what the Mint website states, that coins will be shipped FIFO and ask if this has changed and she say I DON’T KNOW THAT’S THE U.S. MINT !!!! I’m like, I thought I called the US MINT… She’s silent. So I say, can I talk to someone at the Mint?? She says hold on, and puts me on hold. I hang up after a couple minutes, I didn’t think anyone was coming back.
My conclusion is, KEEP CALLING. If they don’t know they are being shipped out of order, we have to make sure we tell them.
The point is: If you wake up early to get in line for tickets and you're the first in line, you expect to be first. When they go to the back of the line and start handing out tickets, you get pissed, cause now you're last. I was fine with ALL coins being delayed, but now, what's fair is fair and this ain't fair.
Editor's correction: It is a 'Puking Pumpkin' not a Vomiting Pumpkin. Please excuse me for any inconvenience I may have caused with my alliteration error.
Mr DeLorey, I am sorry, but this one is too good to let get away. I have to remember to do this more often because some of us guys who change siglines for educational purposes often don't keep the message around long enough for others to really enjoy it for what it says.

I remember the Z.Z. Topp/ REO Speewagon Concert at the Civic Auditorium on July 4th, 1976. Crazy days, pot smoking, free love, no cares in the world, and the crowd was unruly because the concert promoters wouldn't open the doors to allow people in. Since the entrance to the place was on a slight incline upward, the crowd tended to lean forward naturally , to alleviate the stress of standing on an incline for so long. It got hard on the lower back. As people leaned forward standing there , you could hear a collective sigh of relief "ahhhhhhhhhhh". Well all that did was made the crowd from behind think that they were letting people in because the crowd shifted forward, just not their feet... only the body.
It was a hot day. Finally the doors were opened and the crowd from the rear started inching forward. The rush was on. A woman in front of me just went blue and collapsed from the pressure of the crowd. I could see a stampede was on.
I didn't mean to do what I did at that time, but I started swinging wildly and hitting people. It was all I could do to save this girl from a certain death. I bent over after I had the tiniest bit of room and lifted her way up over my shoulders until she regained consciousness. Once she said she was okay, I set her down and we managed to get inside. Whew, it was really scarey.
Why are we in a "MAD RUSH" for anything ? I will never understand it. I've never been comfortable in crowded places since that day.
Maybe that's the reason I did not order one of the 300,000 UHRs that will be minted. The music sounds sounds better the further away I get from the stage, and I can always hear it later. Who needs the hassles ? Leave the people at the mint alone. They didn't create the problem. They're just standing at the door doing what they're told.
Well I received mine today outside thee door, no sig required and it was overnighted by PB.. Can you believe these guys I call the US mint phone and they still have my order as being processed and ship date is 4/24.
Have some errons this afternoon with my son, soon as I get back I will open up and look at it..
Folks, let's try to remember that the poor schlubs answering the phones at 1-800-USA-MINT do not set the policies or program the computers or misprint the books. These are normal people trying to make a living in hard times. Don't yell at them. There but for the grace of God go you. TD

Lincoln # 30969XXX 02/12/09 10 each 20 total
LOOK, I KNOW THIS IS A UHR THREAD, BUT CAN I PLEASE GET SOME SYMPATHY ON MY LINCOLN DEBACLE !!! >>
Received my two Lincoln proofs yesterday (2/26/09), two days ahead of schedule (#3096****, ordered 10:08 AM MST). Two Unc's due to arrive on 3/03/09. Still no UHRDE. Last e-mail from the Mint was on 2/3/09 advising of an expected ship date of 2/18/09. Order #30827****, 1/22/09 @ 10:16 MST . Spoke with a nice, apologetic PBGS CSR (Candy) yesterday who assured me (LOLOLOL) the coin will be shipped "very soon".
I called again. VERY RUDE. Talking over me, wouldn't let me talk. NASTY PEOPLE.
I asked her if anybody knows these are shipping out of order. She put me on hold and comes back and gives me the 'lines'. I'm calm. I'm asking her, did you tell your boss what I said about the orders, she ignores, I ask again, and again, she finally says, yes, I say what did he say, are you going to look into it, she just keeps saying the same stuff, giving me the 'line'.
So, I'm like it makes no sense that what I'm saying will not move up the chain, have someone look into it, pleading, please explain, she keeps saying the same stuff.
I'm like, if you don't believe me, I'm positive someone can look at the orders and determine what is being shipped and when that order was placed. She just keeps saying the same 'lines'. Although I really felt like she was hiding something.
After this call I'd say, they are definitely in Cover There A.. mode.
We need go over their heads, to the U.S. Mint people, specifically the Director Edmund C. Moy.
Talking to the people who screwed up and are trying to save there As.. will get us no place. Although we are wearing them down. Keep up the good work !! Keep Calling !!
<< <i>YaHa...what was your order # and date and time ordered? >>
Look back about 4 pages, YaHa stated his second coin, ordered on the second day has shipped. We can assume he got his second coin and the coin ordered on the first day is still back ordered.
I agree with CaptHenway. The people answering the phone are just the people in the firing line instead of the people that should be. They are told what to say or hit the road.
Yes definitely call your congressmen and women and your senators. I am sure they will give this matter the importance it deserves. Besides they all could probably use a good belly laugh. While you are contacting them be sure and contact your local media, write a letter to the editor and email the White House. The entire country right now needs to laugh at something. Nothing like a good cause being promoted with the right perspective. This is like watching some spoof movie or rereading Chicken Little. Oh yeah be sure and take it out on mint employees too that will really clear up the situation.

oh right, i remember that story but didn't remember it was yaha. thanx.
I have to respectfully disagree with the hypothesis that the initial UHR orders are in a state of limbo and are not being processed. However, that being said, i do agree with your efforts to "keep pounding them" despite what others have posted to the contrary. I would rather err on the side of caution and continue pounding them rather than relying on a false sense of security that the initial UHR orders are being processed. Furthermore, we should continue to pound them to let them know that their behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
Ok now, based on my limited conversations and investigation of this matter with respect to the UHR, here is how it's going down. At a minimum, the first 10,000 UHRs will be shipped by the FS deadline of March 11. The initial UHR orders purchased on 01/22/09 will be included in the first 10,000 UHR shipments. Nevertheless, let's keep pounding them!
Hi all, well I sent an email last night to the pres of PBGS and have not heard a word. I also called PB customer advocate and have not heard a word. Next step at 2pm ET I'm going to the media. After that I'm calling the Mint in DC and demand to speak with someone who can give me an answer.
Also, I located this on the goldandsilverblog, nothing that we already don't know but someone has caught on to most of the issues. I left comments on this site about the FIFO/LIFO issues we are seeing. Maybe this person can get on someone's back at the Mint.
February 25, 2009 | Filed Under US Mint
Back in December, I examined the upcoming 2009 Ultra High Relief Double Eagle Gold Coin offering from the US Mint. I expressed the opinion that the US Mint would have problems handing demand for the new coin. Several months later, the US Mint has had problems with virtually every aspect of the product, from the inability to obtain gold blanks to the botched production of paperback books.
The Ultra High Relief Double Eagle recreates the original design for the 1907 Gold Double Eagle created by Augustus Saint Gaudens. Each coin contains one ounce of 24 karat gold and is struck on a specialized blank, which is 50% thicker than the blanks used for most one ounce gold bullion coins.
The US Mint began publicly touting the coin as early as March 2008, calling it a “recreated masterpiece” and the “nation’s most beautiful coin.” US Mint Director Edmund Moy has called it “one of the best coins ever made in the world throughout all of history” and likened owning the coin to owning a Monet.
Perhaps the current environment of limited gold blank supply was not the best time for the high profile launch of a flashy gold prestige coin.
Pricing and Availability Sales of the Ultra High Relief Gold Coins began on January 22, 2009. The US Mint tried to head off the anticipated high demand by setting an ordering limit of only one coin per household. This ordering limit remains in place. Coins were initially priced at $1,189 per coin. This price has been raised three times in the subsequent months to its current level of $1,339 per coin. When sales began, the US Mint indicated that orders for the coin might take six to nine months to complete.
Many people attempted to get around the order limitation by enlisting the help of friends and family with unique household addresses. Coin dealers were also forced to try to find a way to circumvent the ordering limit. They offered a gauranteed premium to anyone willing to order the coins for them. Some customers felt that the price was set too high, but complaints were not widespread. Many were dismayed about the prospect of waiting six to nine months for their orders.
Limited Gold Blank Supply Several days after the coins went on sale, Edmund Moy revealed that so far the US Mint had only able to obtain enough blanks to produce 29,000 coins. Customers had ordered approximately this number of coins during the first day of sales. To date more than 48,000 coins have been ordered.
The implication is that anyone who had ordered on the first day might receive their coins soon, but customers who placed their orders after the first day, might be in for a long wait. There has been no indication of whether the US Mint has been able to procure additional blanks beyond the first reported batch of 29,000.
Shipping Delays and Miscommunications During the weeks that followed, US Mint customers began receiving a series of emails which provided a confusing array of estimated shipping dates. Some customers received four or five emails which included a different shipping date each time. These shipping dates often conflicted with the estimated shipping dates available in customer account screens. Some of the earlier dates came and went with no coins shipped.
Amidst the wave of emails, the first coin actually received in hand was reported February 9, 2009 at online social networking site Coin Network. After this first report, many assumed widespread shipping of the first 29,000 coins would follow. As the days passed, it became apparent that only a small number of coins had actually shipped. The rest were inexplicably delayed.
Shipping Problems and Website Security Issues Following the arrival of the first coin, US Mint customers began to report shipping issues for other US Mint orders, as well as security issues that were impacting Ultra High Relief Double Eagle coin orders. The US Mint’s shipping contractor had reportedly been leaving packages filled with thousands of dollars of gold coins on customer doorsteps without signature or any other confirmation of delivery. The US Mint’s website had an easily exploited security flaw which caused some customers to have their orders canceled without authorization.
The US Mint disabled some of the functions of their website to prevent the further unauthorized cancellation of orders. They never broadly informed customers of the underlying problems or the potential resulting delays.
Production Problems for the Companion Book The final and most recent problem in the Ultra High Relief saga relates to the Companion Book, which the US Mint produced to accompany the gold coin. Apparently, a production problem caused the book covers to warp or curl.
Today, the US Mint sent an email to all customers announcing that they would resume shipping of the Ultra High Relief coins, and the companion books would be shipped separately. The email did not mention the shipping problems, website security problems, possible gold blank limitations, and overlooked the fact that customers had never been informed of a shipping delay in the first place. Besides the series auto generated emails with inaccurate shipping dates, this was the first email sent to customers to explain why they haven’t received their coins.
I called, explained the situation to the person that answered the phone and she did transfer me to the US Mint customer care area. I left a detailed voicemail along with my contact numbers, another avenue to pursue.
I have read reply after reply to this thread and have tried to remain calm. Successfully, I might add. I too am waiting for this coin as it was ordered within the first hour. Other than the emails I received from the US Mint (last one telling me I it should be shipped on 2/20/09) I have not had nor have I communicated with the mint. Until now..... I decided that since I haven't heard from the folks at the Mint in two weeks, I should probably find out if they haven't canceled my order. So I placed a call. Now I'm not sure if I spoke to a Mint employee or the contractor service or the person who just happens to be walking by the phone when it rang. Nevertheless, I did finally speak with someone after on hold for 20 minutes listening to Muzak. I was checking on two orders. One was for the Lincoln commem. I was told it hasn't shipped yet but my credit card was good....whew...that was a relief.
Then I asked about the all import question. My order for the UHR... She said, "nope, hasn't shipped yet." BIG DUH!!! I asked if my credit card was approved for this one too. She said, "yep, and the coin should ship to you in about a week or two." Now folks, it was the way she said that. She kind of chuckled. I replied, "what is funny are you familiar with a delay on this coin?" I said that openly ignorant on purpose. She said, "oh yeah! Most of my day is spent checking orders for these and they are shipping again." I told her I was familiar with the delay and I wouldn't scold her as the messanger. She said, "thanks...I appreciate that."
Okay, so I sit and continue to wait. I have not been charged for it and the only reason every one seems to be in a huff is the all important "First Strike" deadline. I haven't made a decision either way if I will submit to PCGS for this designation but it will be a moot point if I don't get the coin by the deadline. I also am trying to keep in mind, that when I placed the order for this coin, I knew it could take up to 9 months to get it. The obvious issue is that some people that ordered after me has this coin in hand. Oh well....Patience Grasshopper.
"What we are never changes, but who we are ... never stops changing."
I called, explained the situation to the person that answered the phone and she did transfer me to the US Mint customer care area. I left a detailed voicemail along with my contact numbers, another avenue to pursue.
<< <i>We are truly in the end times. No one should be shocked that "those who are last shall be first" as God said it himself in the Bible. >>
I was wondering when that Biblical quote would surface. lol Just think the USMint could have avoided this whole problem by placing a simple disclaimer in their advertising that although it is their intent to ship FIFO that there is no assurance that would be the case.

OK, so someone forgot to tell the Fulfillment Contractor that first in were supposed to be first out?????????????
Let's keep pounding them. I really believe our orders are in a state of limbo. I think it is very clear what has happened. When they (PBGS) halted processing weeks ago because of the book snafu, all of the processed and waiting orders went into a hold status of some sort. When they resumed processing of orders this week, they started with the next orders on the list and all of the early orders remain on hold. Someone else postulated this scenario a few posts back. This was the message I tried to convey to the "nice lady". >>
Yeah, I believe I was the "someone else" you refer to in your post. This really wouldn't be such a big deal for those who ordered on the first day if the USMint could assure us that there are enough coins already minted to meet the first day orders after all these second and third and etc. day orders get sent out. When we got those status reports that our coins were reserved were they really locked up for us first dayers? If not, and if no more than 29,000 coins have been minted then there are going to be a lot of first day orderers who will not see their coins until the next minting, whenever that is.

I believe I ordered around 10am on the 23rd

Look back about 4 pages, YaHa stated his second coin, ordered on the second day has shipped. We can assume he got his second coin and the coin ordered on the first day is still back ordered.
Unless YaHa states otherwise.
Gawd what are we becoming.

oh right, i remember that story but didn't remember it was yaha.
Pricing and Availability
Sales of the Ultra High Relief Gold Coins began on January 22, 2009.
Limited Gold Blank Supply
Several days after the coins went on sale, Edmund Moy revealed that so far the US Mint had only able to obtain enough blanks to produce 29,000 coins.
Shipping Delays and Miscommunications
During the weeks that followed, US Mint customers began receiving a series of emails which provided a confusing array of estimated shipping dates.
Shipping Problems and Website Security Issues
Following the arrival of the first coin, US Mint customers began to report shipping issues for other US Mint orders, as well as security issues that were impacting Ultra High Relief Double Eagle coin orders.
Production Problems for the Companion Book
The final and most recent problem in the Ultra High Relief saga relates to the Companion Book, which the US Mint produced to accompany the gold coin.
Besides the series auto generated emails with inaccurate shipping dates, this was the first email sent to customers to explain why they haven’t received their coins.

thanx RedSox, i just emailed and faxed that article to PBGS and US Mint Public Affairs.
I called, explained the situation to the person that answered the phone and she did transfer me to the US Mint customer care area. I left a detailed voicemail along with my contact numbers, another avenue to pursue.
This is crazy stuff!

I was wondering when that Biblical quote would surface. lol Just think the USMint could have avoided this whole problem by placing a simple disclaimer in their advertising that although it is their intent to ship FIFO that there is no assurance that would be the case.

<< <i>I talked to a very Rude Customer Service Rep.
Here’s my little story.

<< <i>imron and Cryptoguy,
Let's keep pounding them. >>
