I just re-read my email from the US Mint and it only has the coin shipping. The book is not listed in the email. I guess that means it will ship later.
Although I got the email from the US Mint, I checked my credit card and it does not show the charge for the coin. So, I checked the UPS website and got the independent confirmation that the coin has shipped today and will be delivered on Monday 3/2.
Those getting their emails might want to check the UPS website www.ups.com using the second line of the tracking number in the email. It appears that the first line is a tracking number used if it is shipped via USPS mail.
Pumpkin when you buy a coin that everyone else wants this is what happens. I am not sticking up for the mint but I have had backordered coins take many months to get and the patience pays off.
Eventually they will lift the household limit on the UHR and people can order a dozen of these if they want. The books are what held up the delivery of the coins if what i read is correct. The mistake the mint made was in having to rely on a book publisher to fullfill orders.
Sure, everybody gets their UHR and abandons me. Just shred the thread. Leave. It was only a few posts ago that I was trying to convince everybody not to cancel their order and to keep fighting. But noooooo. You get your coins and you leave. I keep hearing crickets. What was that?? Yikes!!
all these posts from antsy newbies gets old fast... you have to learn to accept how the mint works.
if you have your order in then sit back and relax. forget about first strike
i ordered the 2006 3 coins gold anniv set on the second day. only 10,000 sets made. ordered mid-august and santa dropped them off just before Christmas. moral of the story is if you really want the coin just chill and it will come to you
if they really are straightening things out with fifo, then mine should ship next week sometime. we'll see.
if they only made 29,000 to start and 50,000 orders were taken, then they are likely needing a 2nd minting already to make the 4/24 ship deadline for the delayed group.
wouldn't it be something if the subsequent mintings were of such better quality as to make them more desirable than those garnering the "First Strike" from the first minting??
(and I'm no believer in FS/ER designations.... but the market does. {and I plan to buy and hold and hold ... })
who knows.... I'm going to bed.
edit: no ship for me! can't get some direct ships to go either.

Sorry, I left for a bit to open a bottle Merlot.
So just how many times have checked your email tonight, pumpkin?
THREE DAYS AFTER MY ORDER and you're getting yours and I'm still waiting. I guess I'll have to call the a$$ wipes again, I'll lay into them big time, this time. NO MERCY !!
On the morning of Mar 11th I will call and cancel my order. If it can't be canceled I will refuse delivery and start a credit card charge back. That's the only way I see to handle this absurd situation.
PS: Not bothering to call the CSRs and hear their canned replies.

I got my email and my Amex has been charged. My order was placed around 1AM EST on Jan 23rd.
Gee, maybe if I had called the Mint repeatedly and demanded information about why they didn't ship in the order they said they would, they might have shipped it later...
Tempted to cancel my order and use the $ to buy a few first spouses instead. The only thing keeping me from cancelling my uhr is the cheapskate in me saying that I'm getting a now $1339 coin for only $1189. Anyone else think that the spouses are the better investment?

Well obviously the reason the cc has not been charged is that the USMint feels so bad about the delay that they have randomly selected FIFO entitled orderers who got jumped to receive their coins gratis.
Hi, Imron, you are not alone! I have not rec'd anything, ordered within 38 minutes on 1/22.
Glad to hear some of the 1st orders are being filled, geez it took them long enough. One question though, why are cc being charged 1206.90? the coin was 1189. + 4.95 for shipping.

Gold ran up quickly and at some point in the NEXT 10 MONTHS You will be able to buy it cheaper.....Once the gold fanatics fade away the price will drop.
I didn't get no stinkin' email, either. I think the mint has been watching this thread and has figured out who the biggest rabble-rousers are and is holding back our orders just to torture us a little more. My order #30836xxx at 1:08 on 1/22 (it should have beenmuch earlier as I had the cart loaded at 12:04, but it took over an hour to get through checkout because of multiple page faults - but that's another can of worms). All I'm hoping for is a 69 or better, which may be asking for a lot based on some of the latest feedback...
"Tempted to cancel my order and use the $ to buy a few first spouses instead. The only thing keeping me from cancelling my uhr is the cheapskate in me saying that I'm getting a now $1339 coin for only $1189. Anyone else think that the spouses are the better investment?"
Come on this is the UHR! The most beautiful US coin ever minted. If you're in just for bullion buy something with the lowest premium. They don't call them First Hags for nothin'.
Casman....what was your order # (@12:07pm)? My Order 308268xx @ 12:10pm/ET and I got the email last night 10:07pm. Are they still picking around in 1st day orders?
US Navy/CAPT (Ret)/37yrs ------------------------- Status: Ding, Ding...Ding, Ding...Ding, Ding...
30838xxx, NOTHING YET. I got my Lincolns the other day, they are very pretty, glad I got the proofs. The relection off the sun is blinding. I'm glad there is nothing else I want from the mint this year. I have been very nice on the phone so far. But this time next week may be time to start taking names.
I posted the following comment on page 100 of this thread:
I have to respectfully disagree with the hypothesis that the initial UHR orders are in a state of limbo and are not being processed. However, that being said, i do agree with your efforts to "keep pounding them" despite what others have posted to the contrary. I would rather err on the side of caution and continue pounding them rather than relying on a false sense of security that the initial UHR orders are being processed. Furthermore, we should continue to pound them to let them know that their behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
Ok now, based on my limited conversations and investigation of this matter with respect to the UHR, here is how it's going down. At a minimum, the first 10,000 UHRs will be shipped by the FS deadline of March 11. The initial UHR orders purchased on 01/22/09 will be included in the first 10,000 UHR shipments. Nevertheless, let's keep pounding them!
Now, this is exactly what is happening; the early orders are getting shipped albeit randomly so. Based upon my further discussions with the same people I engaged this past week, the shipping of these early UHR orders will ACCELERATE into next week. Do not expect much to happen today because the Shipping Department at Pitney Bowes only works a skeleton crew on Saturdays despite the debacle they are experiencing. Therefore, I am still under the strong impression that all the early UHR orders will be shipped by March 11 and the total UHRs shipped will exceed 10,000 by March 11. One caveat however, keep calling the Mint to ensure your UHR order is still in the system.
MY CONFIRMATION EMAIL FINALLY CAME THROUGH. I just checked my other email account and it came through last night at 9:07pm last night confirming the shipment of my UHR. I think FIFO is BACK!!!
There is one strange thing that appeared. There were three different tracking numbers. 2 of them were USPS numbers, and the 3rd number is a 1ZE (18 digit) tracking number which is UPS. I wonder which one is correct??? My order was started at 12:01 pm on Jan 22, 2009, and got finished at 12:05pm. Here is what is says, except I removed the vital information and the URLs.

Of course I had to remove the vital data, but here is what tracks on UPS:
Your package is on time with a scheduled delivery date of 03/02/2009.
Tracking Number: REMOVED Type: Package Status: In Transit - On Time Your shipment is moving within the UPS network and should be delivered on the Scheduled Delivery Date. A shipment can remain in this status until it is delivered. Other than time-definite air deliveries, shipments are generally delivered anytime between the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. to residences, and by close of business for commercial addresses. UPS cannot schedule a specific delivery time within that window.
What should I do if I'm expecting a delivery? This is the most up-to-date information about the status of your shipment. For residential deliveries that require a signature, you can leave instructions for the driver if no one will be home. For example, you can ask that it be delivered to a neighbor who will be home. Shipments that don't require a signature can be left in a safe place at the driver's discretion.
