It appears that only a handful of the UHRs have been released. I have a succinct feeling, in light of Wondercoin's discussions with management at the Mint regarding the lack of signed receipt for the packages coming out of the mint, that all shipments have ceased until this problem has been resolved with their new carrier and distribution system. Knowing how fast government works, these coins might not be released for quite some time and that the window for FS might close before any sizeable quantity reach the public. Let's face it, if the managemint at the Mint had been handling the military aspects of WW2, we'd all be speaking Japanese and German.
We'll know more this week, but if the board isn't popping with "I've got mine" type of posts, then we'll know that something is amiss and Charlie might just have hit the jackpot. >>

Thanks. That is interesting. What is with the "no grade available" designation. If you send it in to PCGS for "1st Strike" designation don't you also get a grade?????? >>

Hi. Always something new to learn. All of my PCGS coins have come to me already slabbed and I have never sent a contemporary U.S. Mint product in for grading before - though I can see why the UHR may merit an exception unless the 30 days runs out before most of us here get ours.
"This feature is temporarily unavailable. Please call 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468) if you would like to track an order. We apologize for this inconvenience."
has anyone noticed that the track your order page at the mint is down? I wonder if they are going to fix the bug, or just tired of people complaining that its wrong so they took it down.

Looking at the bright side of the delay - if it drags on for another couple weeks, the "First Strike" window will close. What better way to expose the absurdity of "First Strike" as the contrived pretender that it is? A giant batch of coins all minted in the same time period, but the vast majority won't qualify for the hallowed title just because of a mint shipping snafu. If that doesn't prove there is no difference between a FS and a non-FS, nothing will.

I realize that, but it would be another entry in "The Emporer has no clothes" side of the ledger. The marketplace puts a value on the ridiculous label, and as long as the marketplace is irrational, the FS label will command a premium. There are enough of us who know the truth, and hopefully, some day before we all turn to dust, the truth will out!!!
There were a fews years and a few different gold coin series of which this was one of them that the first 1,000 minted was sent directly by the BRM to PCGS for grading and slabbing as first stuck for the year:

I don't know. There would still be some that would argue that a MS69 is a MS69, whether the 23rd struck or the 10,000th. Cover the label and how would one tell the difference?
Many posts(1000's) on FS for and against. I like the little flag, and pony up the extra doe for. Many think it is nonsense and that is fine. Many enjoy these and that is fine. Collect/buy or not as you like. Numismatics "tent" is big
........Been "watching" the 2 ebay sellers that sold "in hand" UHR's and someone that bought one, left positive feedback for. So looks like charlie is not the only one with these.
Well, the coins aren't UHR... but I wonder if this is indicative of things to come...
My Lincoln Anniversary's ordered early that afternoon (am in Mint time) have now been backordered and show a shipping date of "April 01," which is what shows on their product page.

Since there are two different submission numbers in the process of being graded at PCGS with UHR's, I'd say you were spot on.
I just called the mint and they told me that they have the coins, it's the books that they're waiting on....The representative said my coin was ready to go out the door when the books arrived....
my book showed "backordered" for a day or two after the coin showed "in stock and reserved."
it then went to "in stock and reserved," and that was a week or so ago.
they need to come up with some consistent BS to tell people.
Actually, I've been more appreciative of the reps that have been as frustrated as I am and who suggested writing a letter to the mint director's office.

I just called the Mint myself a 11:44 eastern time today and now my order has been pushback until March 13 2009 and the Supervisor tells me that the date she just gave me is still not guaranteed.
So people we are in for a long wait on these.
Also the Mint Super told me that NONE have been ship out.. She told me there might be a huge delay until they get their shipping policy corrected. I ask her what is wrong with the shipping of these coins, she said they have had some problems on getting other shipments to customers and a lot of items being stolen with no traces available. She then said if I remember at the begining of my order of lthis UHR coin it was stated so to be available between 6/9 months and they are sticking to this agreement.
And now I am on board having just hit the button on the UHR. Order number 31020XXX for whatever that means. Is that a running count of how many have been ordered so far? (last five digits). Status is Backordered shipping 3 09
What is the consensus advice now, since I like pcgs slabs...do I not open it and sent it right in for slabbing?
May want to delete the last 3 numbers. ..........................So the mint is waiting for the book and have the coins Trash the book, send coin..........Mint waiting on delivery problem..Bill me $50 for postage, just send it...............Oh well, just wait, that is all can do.
At this rate any of the 3 or 4 known UHR graded FS will be going for "Moon Money", no matter what the grade. So what do the TPG's do in a case like this? They cant really extend the FS deadline that would not be fair to the individuals that have theirs already, but then it shuts everyone else out.

Coin World Online has a front page story about the Mint's shipping problems.
Basically, the new order fulfilment center in Indiana is being run by Pitney-Bowes. When you call the Mint's ordering number, you are speaking with Pitney-Bowes.
They have been shipping everything via UPS, coded "No signature required." This is in conflict with the Mint's official policy that anything over $300 has to have a signature.
It sounds like they have temporarily suspended all shipping while they figure out what they are doing wrong.
(BTW, in my opinion Coin World Online is well worth the money!)

I doubt it has anything to do with wondercoins complaint as he didnt complain until feb 12th and the first uhrs seemed to have been shipped on the feb 6th.

Strange that the mint got approvals on so many cc's on monday the 9th and remove the cancel boxes only to send nothing. Its almost like they were going to then changed their mind.
Submission # 9101939 is me. PCGS has the UHR (confirmed by me by phone with PCGS). Please note I have no reason why my order shipped. I am inclined to think it has to do with the book marked as canceled. You recall we started with differant dates on the UHR and the book. Then the two came together on ship dates. My order said canceled on the book but the book arrived in the box ? A guess (please note this) is they updated orders by batches and somehow mine was not updated. That made it fall out of sequence as nothing was holding the oder (as others had a date on the book later than the UHR). I wonder what the ship info looks like on the order that was shipped and delivered on 02/06? I have have others ordered thru faimily members. The last time I looked (before the web site went partially offline) 2 show in process with the cancel button gone. 1 shows a later date, on hold with a cancel button.
With so many members citing cancel button gone and order in in process seems like the mint is getting ready to ship a large amount of the UHR.
