Yea! Maybe it's the "in hand, ready to ship" that's driving it?

Actually when we first discussed this auction, ... it was the only one with the coin in hand .... not a freak.

    My bad image
  • I have to repeat myself - it is VERY strange that I have now seen only 2 actual pictures of the UHR and both were unforgivably blurry - in fact, I ma not so sure the second picture I saw wasnt actually the first!! My coin has been listed as in stock and reserved for the entire week - my cc has been debited, my cancel boxes are gone - yet, no tracking from the mint site and no ship date. What gives?!? Even the "in hand" auction doesnt have a picture - wouldnt you think that if they had it in hand they would have tried extra hard to put in an acual image rather than the press release photos?

No e-mail communication at all...they just magically arrived without fanfare.

When I then retroactively checked the order status today, it indicates that they shipped via UPS on Monday...glad they didn't go astray.
  • OH God, somebody please talk me down! image

Just received some letter from the Mint saying MY ADDRESS DOESN'T MATCH MY CREDIT CARD?? The only difference I can see is that the Mint's system automatically generated the last 4 digits of my zip during registration, otherwise the address is exactly the same!! The letter says they may run out of coins blah blah before my order is filled!

So I called the Mint to ask WTF and first the system hung up on me, then on second attempt after a long wait someone answered then asked for the order number 3 different times then said "Oh everything is OK now." They claim I don't have to mail back the form but won't say why and won't tell me if they "fixed" anything in their "system."

So my question is, should I mail back the form with the correction of removing the last 4 digits on the zip? As if there hasn't already been enough drama with this freaking coin and is this what you all go through every time you order from the Mint?? Do we get a group rate on ulcer meds or what?!! image

If you have an account(which I do) and dont sign in when checking out I think they put your order on hold. I got the same letter and called and she wanted to verify it was me. I told her I decided not to use my login on check out because it kept booting me so I decided to checkout without signing in. Im pretty sure thats why we got the letter. As soon as i hung up and checked my order it went from hold to in process. Man the mint needs to update their software or something because big issue releases are a joke.

Does anyone have connections to Pcgs to find out if any are in for slabbing. That is the UHR double gold eagle I am talking about.image
  • Perth Mint supplies planchets around the world. They VERY well could be supplying ALL of these planchets.

Perth Mint struck a 4.5mm thick "High Relief" gold Koala last year, suspiciously just before Baltimore when the UHR was shown off (which is 4mm thick and the same 27mm wide)

A friend has seen a story on the Perth Mint providing blanks, and in the background he says he saw a box with US Mint labeled on it.. that is quite a lot of evidence in my book.
  • Has anybody provided a decent picture of this coin. Could there be one buried in this thread?

I'll be mailing mine back too then... I guess I shouldn't be surprised that a govt run business would operate this way!

  • Thanks Casman and everyone else for the Welcome. Yes I clicked on the Expedite Box when I ordered. Even though I ordered in the first five minutes, I thought what the heck, for a few bucks maybe I won't get the run around, and just maybe they might pull and expedite it early. Not happening!! Would have been worth a few bucks, but didn't happen.

The last time I called the Mint the other day, CS lady said that mine was picked on the 9th, and was in the warehouse being packed, and should ship that day. Not Here Yet!!!

I just called back and spoke with a man this time. I told him the last lady told me it should ship that day, and she said to call back in a day or two. He looked it up on the computer again, and said the exact same thing....Picked on the 9th, and was being packaged for shipping now, but there were probably lots of others along with mine. Seemed like a nice guy that actually knew what was going on. I was impressed for once. Said should ship any time now. All other times they have seemed in a daze.

When he first answered, I said I'll bet you are sick of people calling about the UHR, and he said actually, it was quite a change, because 90% of the calls he has taken were about the new Lincoln Proof and Unc that came out today. He welcomed the change.

Then I asked him about my 2 Lincoln orders and he laughed. I said don't bother, I'll get those when they come in, I just want my UHR.

I am wondering about these people that are selling and say they have it "IN HAND". Not one have I seen post a picture of the box they received. If I had gotten my order, and was posting it for sale, I would surely post a pic of the box up close to take any doubt out of anyone's mind. Where's the Pic I ask???

NGC Has March 9th as cutoff date, so they think the first were shipped on 10th or 11th.

I am really wondering if anybody really got their UHR yet? Could this just be a ploy to get the first strike clock ticking?
  • Just a wild theory: Could the Mint be purposely delaying ALL of our shipments (aside from the 1 or 2 reported to be "in-hand") to force only those 1 or 2 UHRs to be eligible for "First Strike" classification?

I find it inexplicable that no-one else seems to have received a UHR (backed up by posted photo evidence on any Board that we all would find acceptable).

Further, the URLs reported to be "In-Hand" were not to the earliest Order #s.

Good point ... I'm beginning to have 2d thoughts regarding the "alleged" in hand UHR's.

The eBay "in hand" sold for $1880....

Yes, it is interestng as Ebay shows no current "in hand" UHR's for sale??

    Am I missing something here?

Is there another explanation other than no coins have been shipped?

Has anyone sold any to MCM yet that they had promised to John??

  • I emailed the eBay 30827XXX for $1880 earlier this evening and asked him if he had a photo of the box...got no answer. He had 2 1/2 hours before his coin sold, but chose not to reply.

There were 2 "IN HAND" sales..1800 and 1675...Both there were no photo.........If I were selling,I'd sure take some kind of picture,as it will likey bring in more bidders$$$$................BUT I am likey image. We'll see.

Yes, if you HAD the box, it would increase the likely price; otherwise, you are increasing the price by "implying" you have the coin.

    +2

It would also be nice to see a pic of the PCGS slab... NGC has had their sample pics out for weeks, good looking holder & ER label.

The Mint is pulling the same BS as they did did with with the Jefferson Liberties. Be prepared, everyone that ordered in the first few days will received their orders the same day. I really have no idea why the Mint is pulling this stunt unless they want to control the resell market.

  • I hope everyone here get's their UHR and can make the deadline for FS if that is your choice. Personally, I prefer to have mine just exactly like it was fresh from the mint.

Once again, my UHR Order # is 30826XXX ordered within the first 5 minutes, and I promise everyone here that I will post a pic of my box within an hour of my receipt of my UHR. My mail lady calls me at my office when I get coins in, and I go go and pick them up. I got exited yesterday because she called and said she had some boxes. It ended up being some 2008 $50 Gold Eagle proofs that I had ordered from a contact of mine. That's another coin that will end up being a Key, because of the shutdown of minting them so early, so I invested in many of those.

Everyone here seems like very good people. Thanks again for the welcomes from all.

I wish every one of you the best in receiving your UHR.

I am in the same boat. Ordered at 12:26 #30828xxx

Cancel boxes are gone and all is in progress, in stock and reserved. My CC was hit on 2/9 with the pending charge but not actually charged.

My last back order date before the current in stock and reserved was 2/6. I have blank emails from the mint and do not know what was sent.

My UHR will be sent USPS.

I am in the hurry up and wait stageimage
  • Maybe the Mint is concerned about UPS and the no signature thing. How comfortable would they be to have 40k packages of $1200 gold sitting on doorsteps??

    Just sayin'

Has anyone had their card actually charged. Mine was only hit with pre-approval charges also. I don't think they can charge until they actually ship.
