Can't thank John enough for his hard work on the sub. Many of these cards have been posted here before. Here they are in their plastic tombs.

  • Great 1957 Topps Basketball. Awesome Jim Brown. That Slater Martin looks better a than 6 to me. They were kind of tough on some of those 1957s. Ed Macauley a nice one. Bill Sharman looks better than a 2.

Have to start this post with a thanks to pmcollectour (Marc). Truly a nice guy. I received a package in the mail last week from Marc containing the Barasso/MacLeish/Modano cards below because he thought I would enjoy them. What a cool thing to do. Thanks Marc, I really appreciate it!

Other returns are from the past two weeks. I've been a little lazy about scanning.

Just back from vacationing on Cape Cod for a week with Mrs Coach. Played too much golf, got no sleep because of the damned humidity and watched way too much of the terrible Red Sox. Great vacation. And it's always awesome to return home to several returns.

Also, must mention that the best return was Sportsworld USA making good on their Charlie Burns mess up. I got home to find not one but two 1971 Topps cards with good signatures plus replacement 69 and 70 Topps. GREAT PEOPLE at Sportsworld. Pretty cool that they worked it out with Charlie to make it right.

    BASKETBALL
1972 Topps Assist Leaders - completed with Len Wilkens (Chris Potter signing)
1970 and 1971 Topps Len Wilkens (Chris Potter signing)
    1972 Topps James Jones (eBay)
    1972 Topps Lou Hudson (eBay)
1969 and 1970 Topps Tom Meschery (upgraded my 69 Topps of this card)
    1970, 1971 and 1972 Topps John Warren
1970 and 1976 Topps Dick Snyder

    FOOTBALL
2005 Topps AA Randy White (ebay)
    2005 Topps AA Mark May
1991 Score Aeneas Williams (private signing)

    HOCKEY
1969 and 1970 Topps Ed Giacomin (w/ fee)
Bob Plager cards (low priced signing - got every card signed I could find - not an easy signer)
Charlie Burns replacement cards mentioned above

Added Bob Pettit to my NBA 50 Greatest Lithograph. Now 30/45 possible. My guess is an Isiah Thomas signing in January or so is probably the next addition.

<< <i>Man that's cool! Does Michael ever do signings? >>

He does but he won't sign multi-pieces, rookie cards and some other stuff...plus, it's between $800 and $1200 per signature. My thought on it is that I'd have to have every other living guy to even fathom a way to get Jordan to sign it. Hopefully by then I'm producing movies of my own and I can just cast him in some cameo to get in his good graces...that's always been my plan on how to get Tiger Woods to sign all the golf balls that I need from his major wins...hey, a guy can dream, right? Anyone have a million bucks? Let's make a a low budget drama. I have the script all ready. HA!!!!
  • I saw a Larry Bird signing coming up.

Nice to have friends. My buddy JeserOne met Jim Brown and Eric Dickerson at a golf tournament and picked them up for me on All Americans for my set. He also figured out a way to take personalizations off cards signed in sharpie and was able to remove them from my Spurrier, May and Majors cards. I don't actually have a big issue with personalization but for presentation purposes, I like them to be uniform. So I;m super happy with these now. Also added some stuff from the recent Celtics show in Boston via mail.

    FOOTBALL
    2005 Topps AA Jim Brown
    2005 Topps AA Eric Dickerson

    Removed personalization on:
    Johnny Majors
    Steve Spurrier
    Mark May

    BASKETBALL
    1978, 79, 81, 81SA, 86 and 87 Cedric Maxwell
    1957 Topps Jim Loscutoff
    1976 Marvin Barnes

and added Maxwell on my 1984 Celtics Media Guide.

I have 3 movies in heavy post production right now and it's been tough to find time to scan and post. Quite a few cards have come in recently. Dark picture but overall pretty happy with the Robinson signature. It was always going to look out of place because Jerry West screwed up that section but I think this is about the best that could be done.

    ADDED

made a deal with a friend on SCN for three new additions to 1969 Basketball. I was happy to find the Debusschere since he's deceased but I feel like the Davis and Tresvant cards are even harder to find. Tresvant suffered a stroke some years back and doesn't sign and I've only ever seen 1-2 other Jim Davis cards signed. I'm now 84/99 on the set. Amazingly, of the 15 I'm missing, 8 are alive - just very tough.

Other set updates before today's additions:
    HOCKEY:
    1969 Topps: 72/132
    1970 Topps: 69/132
    1971 Topps: 111/132
    2001 Fleer GOTG: 37/87

    BASKETBALL
    1969 Topps: 84/99
    1970 Topps: 68/170
    1971 Topps: 103/233
    1972 Topps: 106/264

    FOOTBALL
    2005 Topps All American: 66/91

    Today's additions:
    BASKETBALL
    1969 Topps Dave Debusschere
    1969 Topps Jim Davis
    1969 Topps John Tresvant
    1978 and 1979 George Johnson

    BASEBALL
1967 Topps Bob Tillman (eBay purchase)
1976 Topps TRaded Fergie Jenkins (private signing)
1967 and 1969 Topps Jose Tartabull
1975 and 1976 Topps Dick Drago
1976 Topps Red Sox Team/Johnson signed by deceased manager Darrel Johnson

    HOCKEY
1959 and 1968 Topps Pierre Pilote
1968 and 1969 Topps Alex Delvecchio
1968 and 1970 Topps John McKenzie

If you've noticed a trend in this thread toward some Boston stuff, there's definitely a reason for it. I was getting a little bored with some of the stuff I was doing. I even sold a couple of team pieces I had been working on for teams that I'm not a fan of. I figured if I'm collecting, I may as well push some of my collection toward teams I actually root for...and it's been fun. Plus, the letter writing is way easier because I've seen many of these guys play or even met them in the past. Don't get me wrong, the other stuff is awesome (I love the heck out of the late 60's/early 70's hockey -- and I have a huge thing to share on that in a few days) but this has been a very positive turn in my enjoyment of this hobby.

    Returns since last update...

    BASEBALL
1967 and 1969 Topps Jim Lonborg
1967 and 1975 Topps George Scott
    1971, 1972 and 1973 Topps John Kennedy

    1966 and 1967 Hank Fischer
    1970, 1971 and 1972 Topps Eddie Kasko

    FOOTBALL
    1963 Fleer Larry Eisenhauer
1974 and 1978 Topps Sam "Bam" Cunningham
1978 and 1986 Topps Steve Nelson

    HOCKEY

Or we put together a fake movie, but we need some sort of star power to lure Jordan in. Need an office, script, posters, film art, business cards, some type of press event and canadian passports. Opps sorry just saw Argo last weekend. Might be easier to pony up the $5,000 to get Tiger and Jordan to sign some stuff.

I love that poster though and you have more than half the battle done. I was at a show a few years back and Issiah was just sitting there, no one bought any autograph tickets, kind of sad really.

I put together a small private submission with 5 guys to Great North Road and was able to get all the Bobby Orr cards I needed for my sets done. Stoked! In a few days I'm going to post something else from 1968 Topps Hockey that is super exciting.

Also, i am now 1 away from completing my first major set - All Time Celtics Rookie Autographs. I added KC Jones in a deal on ebay and am now only missing a 1998 SP Authentic Paul Pierce signature - and I bought a PSA 10 to crack (yes, I'm stupid) for whenever Sure Shot Promotions has him again.

    Also added:

    BASEBALL
1950 Bowman Al Rosen (he added a 1977 TCMA)
    1972 and 1975 Ben Oglivie

    FOOTBALL
    2005 Topps AA Bob Griese
2005 Topps AA Anthony Carter (now 69/91 on this set)

    BASKETBALL
1961 Fleer K.C. Jones HOF RC
    1986 Fleer Jeff Ruland

    HOCKEY
    1968, 1969 and 1970 Topps Bobby Orr
1968 and 1978 Topps Ron Ellis
    1969 Topps Tracy Pratt
1967 and 1968 Topps Gilles Tremblay
1970 Topps and 1971 OPC Tim Ecclestone

  • Those are nice Orr cards Mike. I heard from my buddy that you did a great job organizing that.
Maybe I'll jump in if there's a next one sometime next year.

Nice stuff. You have been getting some nice stuff lately.
  • I love the Roger Crozier card. That is a fairly tough autograph to get. He was a favorite goalie of mine growing up. Dave

The 86 Fleer was by far the worst of those that came back from the signing. I'm glad it was mine and not someone else's.
  • The 50 Greatest Lithograph is looking great. Isiah Thomas is doing a show soon in February. http://www.gtsportsmarketing.com/nj2013_Feb/
