those smarty pants that thought they were going to buy these at spot...........
guess that didnt pan out too well - did it?
i said it before and i'll say it again - these will always sell at a $200-$300 min premium to spot. >>
$200-300 over spot how about $500-600. Almost all recorded sales at Ebay show ungraded UHRs in the range of $1700-1800 with MS70s selling for about 2,250. Oddly there is no actual sales of First Strikes or Early Releases within the last month or so. MS70 First Strikes were selling for about $1200 over spot but that was a few months ago. It looks to me like they are appreciating nicely.
When i first bought them I bought my first one for the initial offering price which i think was $1289 and I decided i wanted a First Strike UHR so i bought a First Strike eligible sealed UHR for $1750. Turns out that my very first submission, FS eligible UHR came out as a MS70.
I remember people saying they were going to buy these at spot and that with the 100,00+ mintage these were going to sell for a small premium over spot...how wrong were they.
<< <i>Ungraded UHRs now selling for almost $2,000. Last recorded sale was $1950. Looks like even with a 100,000+ mintage these are highly desirable. >>
Heck yeah it's desirable, who hasn't seen an 07 UHR and not drooled excessively? These are as close as many will ever get.

I feel as though I employed a double negative there, with confusing results. But, just read between the lines! :S

Well i havent seen a 07 UHR...not in person anyways but everytime i look at my MS70 UHR i cant help but drool. Funny how people thought they could get these at a small premium over spot and yet even ungraded samples are close to the $2K mark. Glad i bought two of them, problem now is that it is very tough for me to let them go. Ive kind of developed an emotional attachment to Miss Liberty
Mine is sleeping in its fancy box.. I only bought one, the last hour of the last day they were on sale from The Mint, 12/31/2009.. so I paid a couple hundred more than you kids who ordered them earlier in the year.. belive me, it was a wrenching decision to part with a month's rent for it, but there was no way I was going to buy one that someone else had opened and gotten their cooties on, if you know what I mean..
To me, mine looks PL, (hopefully it's not wishful thinking).. but since I only have one, I have nothing to compare it to "in hand".. and trying to compare it to even the best photographs of PL and non-PL examples is impossible..
I intend to submit it "Across the street" since my financial situation restricts me from joining the PCGS club again, and they don't give the PL designation anyway.. as an ANA member, I'm automatically an "Across the street" member, so I don't have to join their club.. just pay the fees..
I took a look at closed auctions on eBay the other day, and did see a raw UHR with all the OGP sell for a bit OVER $2000.00..
115,000 is not a tiny number, but it's not a huge number either.. however, as a one-year-only product, it could have tremendous potential down the line.. who knows.. just musing..

or I bet you dont feel bad even after buying for a few hundred more than most people. I dont think you can tell a difference with the naked eye between a MS69 and MS70...PL or non-PL.
I took a rather big gamble when they first sold and bought both of them on credit. But in the meanwhile i was waiting for my tax refund so buying them was a no brainer since i was going to pay it off anyways. I took an even bigger gamble buying a sealed First Strike eligible unopened box for $1750, it turns out that when it came back graded it came back a MS70 so paying almost a $500 premium for a FS eligible sealed box paid off nicely

Harv, It's great to see you back!!! The UHR is a true collectible conversation piece!!!
Can someone with population access post how many UHRs have been graded by PCGS both regular and First Strikes. I used to have access but my subscription expired

PCGS has graded a combined total of 11,841 UHR's ... 2,461 have a First Strike label

What are the raw ones bringing with all the original packaging?

Thanks much for the info so I guess out the 115,000 only about 2% have the FS label.

<< <i>When and how will the U.S. Mint EVER top this one?????????
Well??????
I missed this one.
Classic example that price isn't a simple product of mintage but rather it is a product of mintage and DEMAND.
There obviously is enough demand 18 mo. after introduction to keep price well above spot.

A part of me hopes not, since I have a few... but then, I love looking forward to the next masterpiece (whatever it may be...)
The UHR is amongst my favorite modern coins. When I'm ready to join Curiosity on Mars, I hope to make it someone else's favorite coin!
A Truth That's Told With Bad Intent
Beats All The Lies You Can Invent
It's High Relief.
It's gold.
It's a modern classic.
I have a PL, in the very uber box.
Bully digs it, a lot.
BTW, Have you seen the pics??
