#235 is supposed to be Frank Thomas...I'm thinking it must mean of the Priates/Mets/Reds...but Beckett lists the card in the Big Hurt checklist...have you ever seen it because I can't find the card? >>
If Beckett has it in the Big Hurt checklist, I'd assume they're correct. I got mine, and two or three Willie Mays cards, from a seller on eBay maybe two years ago. He listed a ton of them, and the bids were all over the place. I think my Clark cost me less than $10, but I assure you my snipe was significantly higher. All I can say is "good luck" and be sure to set your eBay alert. It'll come up eventually...
Like Michael earlier, I have to go to my sons coach pitch game. I'm slated to throw a few innings unless I can't find the strike zone. Brett thanks again for this thread, I really look forward to it each week. Here's a few parting '56 cards on my way out the door. The shading on some of the corners is because the card isn't flat on the scanner. Amazing cards today along with the Derby ticket, great stuff. I'll check in later with everyone. Take care. Doug
Time for me to praise the cards/items that were shown today...
Brett - as usual, great cards! carew - those are some nice Nu-Card Scoops (and 55AA card too)! How many cards are there in that Nu-Card set? Mike - that is one nice Derby ticket...people would go crazy for that where I live in KY! ajw - interesting card of The Thrill. I have never seen that issue before; thanks for sharing! Doug - GREAT batch of 53's and 56's!!!!! I'm looking forward to see what you will have for us next week!
I picked these up today at a flea market- some kind of old boxing hassan cigs card of jack johnson, thought it was cool anyways and a raw 34 goudey. Neither near in the shape as the fantastic stuff on here though.
Tom--- You have had great stuff today from beginning to end. Those '56s and '61s are amazing. Thanks for sharing. Also, ploobims---don't sell yourself short, it doesn't matter here about the condition compared to others in my mind, it's great to see everyone's cards and those cards are a great find at a flea market. Anyone here would be proud of that purchase, especially that Jack Johnson card. That is cool. Doug
Although i don't follow NBA Basketball much anymore... i have this rare--and i mean rare!! Yao Ming Coca Cola Bottle i picked up while in China. It was banned days later while i was there on business when Yao Ming threatened to sue China & Coke for using his image. I believe he had a deal with Pepsi at the time. I only know of 3 so far to make it back to the US. I have two of them!!
Sorry for the dumb question...What's the easiest way to post pictures? I'm having a little bit of a hard time (files size limits etc). Thanks.

Just go to the main "Sports Cards & Memorabilia Forum" page, and there's a search box there. Type in, "how to post a picture". I believe there's more than one board member that has a step by step method.
Mike- nice bend on those '76s, very nice. Here's a few from the popular '54 set. With all respect to Aaron's rookie card, I've always liked the O'brien twins card better. It's just cool looking with the background and the two together. They live here in Seattle and still go to SU basketball games so I'm hoping to meet up with them and get this card signed next year.
<< <i>Bill Madlock is one of the underrated hitters of all time. Hit 300 in their first season? >>
Yep, they all hit .300 or better in their rookie year. Madlock is the only one among them who finished his career with a .300 average (.305). Carty and McBride just missed, finishing at .299 each.
Great looking '71 team cards Brett. It's funny how the Cubs had several years of team cards with individual photos. Never could figure that one out. Since I seem to be doing year by year, here's some of my '55 set. Take care everyone. Doug
OK, last shot at this one. Since Blomberg was the very first DH. I'm going to say they all were the first DH for the AL team they played on in '73. How's that for a round about answer?
They were all listed as DH as position in the 74 set?
Thanks for the question Brett. Always a fun challenge. I just wanted to say the cards you use for the mystery questions are really nice, sometimes I'm focusing on your question too much to notice. But I really do see that they are top notch.

You're welcome for the weekly posts; I enjoy it, too. You mustn't thank me for the thread, though. Thanks for that go to the OP, RonBurgundy.

<< <i>Hint? >>
It's something that only Madlock was able to sustain over the course of his career.
Hit 300 in their first season?

Thanks! Not that I disagree, but that's not the correct answer. Anyone wanna take a stab at it?
<< <i>They each had a 1972 In Action card? >>
You are correct! Each had an IA card in 1972. This group of fellows were featured in series 1-3. Nice job. Kudos to Nick, too.
Bob,
I'll have to leave that one alone.
Brett, as always great seeing your fine cards too. Love those team cards from '71 Topps.
I'll add a super to the mix today:
<< <i>Brett--any hints on this weeks cards? The only thing I could think of was something to do with DH, but there are NL guys in there. Help! >>
Doug, you are very much on the right track.
Piman 58, I don't know if your response is correct, but it's not the one I had in mind. Follow Doug's lead, he is very close.
Great '77's. You are the King. I agree with your Garvey/Kingman assessments.
<< <i>They all finished their careers as DH? >>
Again, another valid answer that may or may not be true. Let me steer you in the direction that I was going.
The answer has to do with the DH, but within the context of Topps baseball cards. Now run with it!

They all appear in the 1974 Topps set as DH's?
By the way beautiful '74s last week. I really need to pick up a set of those sometime.
The 55's posted earlier are great as well. Very good eye appeal for mid-grade cards. Just the kind I like to buy myself.
<< <i>OK. It has to do with their last name. The longest last name on the team? Or longest last name in team history? Two guesses, sorry. >>
I'm glad you like my cards, Doug.
Once again, you are on the right track. It has something to do with their last names.
