It's life and like work you have those with knowledge but won't share it because of their ego and having to be the expert. I usually fire those type since they don't work well as a team.

  • << <i>i agree. coming to this forum was nice at first, but its to much like high school. id rather collect by myself like the last 4 yrs. this place is a joke. >>

I can't help but chuckle considering that was written by someone with " WAITING FOR THE RETURN OF BONGOBONGO" in his sigline. image

I think this forum is pretty much what you make out of it. I generally stay out of threads such as this (though I did post here twice and you an surely see my tendencies based on what I know) and read them largely for amusement. I do, however, truly enjoy many of the coin-related threads and the opportunity to interact with many people whose interests are similar to mine. I don't post all that often--check out my number of posts versus how long I have been registered--but I still value communicating with collectors and authors who know a heck of a lot more than I. Yeah, some of the posters are rough and some are true jerks, but I let them amuse me and pay attention to those I respect.

    I'll disagree with that statement....
I am "new" to collecting within the last 5 years. I am not near the age of many people on here that have an excuse if they have the "old boy" type of mentality, but I am older than you.

Age doesn't mean a thing on the internet...it's all in how you carry yourself. There is a YN on here that posts much more mature than many. With few exceptions, he gets respect. He asks questions...not 300 a day but definitely a good amount in order to learn. Questions are all good. Age doesn't matter. The key to both is in how you ask them and how you respond to folks.

Adam.....your statements lately, saying how people don't like others asking questions, gives a "woe is me" type of look......may not be how you want it to be but it sure does appear like little snide comments. Instead, come at it from a learning perspective...one can learn without asking questions about everything....learn from what others post....go back in and look at older posts. There is a lot of knowledge that was already here and more to come. Don't just come in thinking that the "old crowd" has got it in for the new crowd....many of the old crowd don't even get along with themselves image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

ahooka454, I agree with Mark. The board is a valuable place for good information. You have to weed through some stuff to get to it.

To defend the thread a little, there is always a post warning the board about a bad ebay seller, coin doctor, fake coin, or a coin sale that is not normal.

  • In my opinion the Coin Talk Forum Administrator made a wise decision with this very thread at their location with the following action.

" The thread is closed, it serves no purpose to continue discussion. "

It seems the reputation of A-Coin in Jacksonville has taken a terrific pounding with this thread being at the top of the CU US Coin Forum list for days.
I believe anyone has a right to serve who ever they want.

Geez, I had a bad experience at Home Depot today. I had a pocket full of cash and credit cards with limits adding up to tens of thousands of dollars. No one wanted to answer my questions or show me where the items that I needed were. Someone begrudgingly cut a few duplicate keys for me, but I had to wait forever for them to do so. I recommend that you never shop at Home Depot. imageimage
  • Thank you for explaing to me your opinion. I may post alot but i have alot of time to. I understand about snide remarks but get them from others just as much. My woe is me thing is wrong but no biggie. If I feel like I have to defend myself I will. age should not play a factor but it does. even on the internet. with a small group of people theyre will always be stuff like this.

Just because my thoughts arent what theirs are, doesnt mean im some punk. if i could post 300 times a day, i might. if it helped me and answered questions i have. because someone can find out what they need to know by other people posting may work for you or others, but may not work for me.

if someone doesnt like my point of view, fine. its america, their allowed to. But dont think that will stop me from asking things id like to know.

Well coinkid, based on what you say, I was wrong.
I thought you were not welcome at the shop from the start.

I guess I more or less went to the dealer's side when you ask everyone here to call them and give them a hard time. Next was talk of folks going by the dealer's booth and doing the same.
All of this is over a dealer being rude to a customer. That's just not right.

I definitely agree that all collectors and sellers in the store should be treated with with equal respect as they are 'the customer'.
However, I think you should look at the bigger picture ~ the fact that you'd had issues with coins purchased from them in the past is a bigger concern than poor treatment. I'm wondering why you continued to give them business? Had they since corrected the issue and things improved? What is the need to call and harass the dealer and round up a posse to make trouble at their booth at FUN??

    THIS SOUNDS STUPID,
BUT IF YOU DON'T LIKE A STORE, DON'T GO TO IT.................DUH!~

This capture probably states this whole situation as it should have been seen from the start!!

    Those edits don't look good.

And I do remember coinkid asking (telling?) us not to do business with A-Coin.
Not that most of us would as (I think) the vast majority live outside the area A-Coin resides.
This was one of the reasons I did not respond to this thread until mud started flying.

Many of us fly off the handle when we feel we were 'wronged'.
We need to vent, and these forums sometimes become our outlet.

I believe if we keep to the facts, the appropriate answers will come.
Calling anyone a liar, whether YN or an "old guard", needs facts to back that up.

coinkid needed to vent, so let him.
A simple "Happens", or go to another shop would have sufficed.

If I missed who was K's "Deep Throat" please direct me to the post.

OK I've tried to read as much of this post as I could and now for my Fifty Cents worth. I don't know who the coinkid is but if your a member of Greater Jacksonville Coin Club you might know me so at the next meeting come and introduce yourself.

A - Coin & Stamp is a well know BM coin shop here and most collectors know how Chip & Bill work. My first experience with Mr. Bill was over 20 years ago when I was returning to the hobby and wanted to collect Morgan dollars. To make it short he Stung me with so many raw over graded, cleaned, whized coins and just stuck it to me. One of is sayings is, " Just The Head" if you get what I mean. He use to call himself the "Master Dipper" from the way he turned circulated coins into MS ones to sell people like me. The one thing I got out of being burned by him was "Knowledge" and that turned into a dangerous thing. I started buying books about the coins I wanted to collect that where written by honorable and ethical dealers and collectors. One of the first was Wayne Miller's "The Morgan And Peace Dollar Textbook" which I got from him and he even signed it for me. It sits in my desk drawer to this day ready to remind me of what to look for in dollars.

coinkid I know your new found friend Chip and how he does not have time for even adult collectors if Mr. Bill isn't there and blows them off the way you've spoke of but that I think that is because he doesn't know anything about coins or how to relate with customers. You said that the owner was siting at his desk while your confrontation took place so I guess it was Mr. Bill. If Mr. Bill doesn't know you or think that you have lots of $$$ he doesn't give a rat's behind from what I've seen over the years. Your coming to the internet to voice your feelings is fine with me but around town here you're kicking a dead horse because everybody pretty much knows how things work at A - Coin. If you are serious about Morgans you need to see Emory Robinson at Edgewood Coin who has been around a long time and everyone deals with. Most of the dealeres here on this board know him and would probably tell you the same thing. Learn from your dealings with BM shop or any one you get coins from and it will make you a better collector. Like they say buy the coin and not the slab, well also buy the book before you buy the coin.

Good Luck coinkid and save your money for FUN there will be plenty of freindly helpful dealers there that will sell you coins and you should get a few deals and you might even stop by and say hi to Mr. Bill & Chip if he's there. The club is takng a bus down on Saturday morning so if I run into you and ya got a few extra bucks I could sure use them for my Peace Dollar set I'm working on. hehe

It's easy to believe the kid's story since it happens ALL the time. I quit collecting as a kid because of the jerk B&M in my home town Major ripoff artist. Then when I started back as a collector in another city I used to buy a lot of raw gold eagles but he got tired of looking for them for me, excuse me, $50 gold eagles were not cheap, so he told me to go try eBay. So I did. Once and a while I stop by for a quick glacne just as a reminder of the major mistake he made in being a jerk. Sorry Charlie.

You don't have to be a kid to have it happen, either.

And my opinion is that any business who can't bring themselves to find a way to help a customer - doesn't deserve to have that customer. It's a very simple principal.image

Well said. I’m still waiting for sh!theader to produce the “proof” he says he has that the OP is a liar! Failing to see such “proof” will only mean that sh!theader himself is the little weasel liar that hides behind his keyboard and tries to bully youngings (all bark no bite)!

Next we will hear from sh!theader that Tiny must be a liar and he has “proof” of that too.

I did like the posts when sh!theader was shown for the idiot he is and his only comeback was to question the edited posts of the OP. Talk about trying to throw enough against the wall and hoping that something will stick?

Sh!theader, if you had any class (which I doubt) you would show the alleged “proof” you have or apologize to the OP for calling him a liar. You can now go slither back under your rock. image

Any remaining credibilty of the OP is lost with these numerous attempts to "re-write history". >>

Perhaps I should stop fixing my typos....because that's all I was doing. If you don't want to believe me, that's fine, but it's the truth.

<< <i>P.S. Something is fishy about steel. Why the heck would he follow me to another board just to call me a liar over there as well? Also, why would he falsify information to try to make me seem like I was at fault? Just a couple of questions to ponder.... >>

<< <i>TAClough says...Pay no attention to sh!theader, he is just a person effected with the “little man syndrome” and likes to try and bully people while hiding behind his keyboard. >>

ldhair said....Well coinkid, based on what you say, I was wrong.
I thought you were not welcome at the shop from the start.

I guess I more or less went to the dealer's side when you ask everyone here to call them and give them a hard time. Next was talk of folks going by the dealer's booth and doing the same.
All of this is over a dealer being rude to a customer. That's just not right.

Maybe that’s why he had to do all this editing.image

This post I like. No vicious attacks on me that are completely made up. It has already been accepted by you that the edits were for spelling, so I don't need to talk about that, and I have to agree with you about returning to the shop. I shouldn't have. I simply wanted to go to a coin store, and it's the closest one. I figured I go buy some low MS Morgans for my set....

But now I have a question for you? Where did you're whole "the kid's a liar" argument go? Did you just give up on it because you know YOU were the liar?

<< <i>Let Me Try That Again

The club is takng a bus down on Saturday morning so if I run into you and ya got a few extra bucks I could sure use them for my Peace Dollar set I'm working on. hehe >>

Great information! Thanks so much! I'm actually not a member of the Jax coin club, although I should be....As for FUN, I'm hopefully going down Friday night so I can go all of Saturday =) I can't wait! If you want to meet up with me at FUN, send me a PM, perhaps you can teach me a thing or two about coinsimage

    Paul,

Don’t worry about Sh!theader, he has been on the boards all day and is scared to post. Most folks have figured him out for the little weasel liar that he is and he has slithered away.

I had posted earlier which he wouldn’t reply to:

<< <i> << I'd suggest everybody go ahead and skip past the crap, speculation, and accusations that the kid is a liar and read Tiny's post.

    Russ, NCNE >>

You can now go slither back under your rock. image >>

Most folks know who the liar is, especially when sh!theader failed to produce the alleged “proof” that he was bragging he had! image

Oh, he produced "proof" but it was made up.

    Wow!

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
