Sorry, but it just isn't important enough for me to dig through thousands of threads - particularly in light of the fact that you seem to be just about the only person on the planet who's been around here for a while who doesn't already know he did it.

I guess I will just have to take your word for it. I dont getting around to reading EVERY thread like you do.....Sorry image

Naw had my one glass of wine at dinner. My bride and I continue a three decade of tradition, staying home on New Year's Eve and enjoying each others company. It seems to have worked. Now back to the bride, have a Happy one. image

Sure. Coinkid was treated badly at a local B&M and reported so here. Some took it upon themselves to rally the forum against the B&M and maybe even harass the B&M by phone. One or two doubted the veracity of Coinkid's account, which was later confirmed by an independent, unbiased party. The arguing parties (mostly) made amends. Overall, much ado about nothing...as usual.

I will not do business with them ever I think
  • +1 just for the heck of it.

Only 12 more to go for that magic 500.

I'd say coinkid has made himself pretty well known in the process.

Not that this was the way he wanted to do it.

Buck up guy, it happens to all of us, even the seasoned adults.

Many B&M shops are there just to rip off the unsuspecting and being rude to customers they don't think can do them any good is nothing new.

*Note, I am NOT including all B&M shops by any means. There are a lot of great shops and dealers.

You just ran afoul of one of the bad ones from what I've read here.

Personally, I love to hang around my favorite shop and just talk coins and life with some great guys.

OTOH, most of the shops here in town, you'd have to pay me to even walk in the door.

I can walk in with 50K in my checkbook and they treat me rudely, just like they do the YNs.

It's just the nature of coins and B&M shops. Trust me, it's a lot better overall than it was when I was kid/YN.

  • I think the number of responses to this thread is because many of us had this type of experience as kids. I can remember going to the YMCA for a coin club meeting around 1972 when I was 10. I spent my paper route money buying a common date Walker for about 3x what it was worth. I remember how amazing the design of the coin looked to me. I also remember saying to the dealer "I'm a real sucker for these". He said with a wink "Me too kid".

The good news is that 35 years later I still appreciate the beauty of a Walker, and I'm still a coin collector. A few bad experiences haven't ruined it for me, and I'm sure they won't for you either.

I find it funny that it didn't occur to people that were calling for" the other side of the story" that we didn't get the other side because there was none.
The B&M owner had plenty of time(over a week) to defend himself.

    500 yet?
