Great cards, guys...BigDaddyBowman, I think I was bidding with you on that Joe Perry...great card! Here's one I just added, a pretty nice SP from the set:
<< <i>The one I was really curious about was the Graham and Namath "unknowns"... nice cards and I wanted to take a look at the checklist to see if it is a set I might keep in mind for the future. If anyone has any info on these, please share it.

To answer your other question ... that set is known as the "1989 TV-4 NFL Quarterbacks". (I just had it marked as unknown because I couldn't remember the year/info when I was naming the scan). It's a 20 card set that was distributed by a London, England TV station (Channel 4) to help promote the NFL back when we started playing pre-season games over there. It has 20 of the greatest QB's to ever play the game, and the drawings are by an artist named J. C. Ford. It's a very inexpensive set, and you can usually find the singles listed for under $5. I personally think it's a great looking little set. >>
Thanks for the info, Mike... those TV-4 cards are absolutely gorgeous and entirely too inexpensive. I have added this set to my eBay searches in the hope to pick one up in the near future. By the way, I thought you might be interested in this to compliment your set perhaps. Neat piece, no?
<< <i>My most recent vintage pick-up. (Just in case you missed it in the HOF RC thread)

I am truly envious of that card in any condition and that one has strong eye appeal for a PSA 2. I am with you and would have thought it would have gotten a 3.
Hopefully I will be able to find one that nice for a decent price to add to my Chicle set some day.
<< <i>Very nice Ryan! Congrats on landing yet another "White Whale" of yours! >>
I second that, that is an amazing looking Hornung Ryan.
God I love 57 topps football!!
Just got one of, well in my opinion, the best looking cards in the 48 leaf set. I just dig the gold uni, look of determination on his face, and its a second series, sooo tough to find in good grades
My newest addition! Tough card to get due to the NFL HOF Registry guys. Not the best centering but still has good enough eye appeal and without breaking the bank! Oh and very tough to find in PSA 7+!
Collecting Interests: Ripken, Brooks & Frank Robinson, Old Orioles, Sweet Spot Autos, older Redskins - Riggins, Sonny, Baugh etc and anything that catches my eye.

Is there a player that appears in a Leaf, Bowman, Topps, Fleer, and Philadelphia set, any year?
There are several that appear in 3 of those company sets. Not sure if there's anyone who appears in 4 of the sets. I doubt there is anyone in all 5 because Leaf was only around 2 years.
A couple of additions from the Reading show this weekend. The Leaf is the Blue Number variation. I've got one in a PSA 4 and the highest graded is a PSA 5. This one is a no-brainer PSA 6 to go with my Yellow Number PSA 7.
The '73T is signed, "Best Wishes, George Allen." Will be going in to PSA/DNA shortly.
Also found a really nice '66P Hayes RC (along with a NM-MT Hanburger '67P RC) after looking for quite awhile. NM-MT+ corners, but NM centering, but the price was very, very right -- especially considering how hot that card is right now.

I know that Leo Nomellini appears in Leaf, Bowman, Topps, and Fleer. He doesn't have a Philly card. I'm not sure if there are any others.

Bednarik and Baugh are in Bowman, Leaf, Topps, Fleer but no Philly. Tittle in all but Leaf.....hmmm..I don't think any one is in all of those issues..
I picked up this Unitas and have been poking around for the Starr and Hornung. Im thinking of just doing a nice upper Mid Grade 57 set. I will give up a bit on the corners for centering everytime. Its just much better eye appeal to me. That Hornung you have is proof of that. I can only hope to find one with as nice as centering.
That Davis is breathtaking! Even though its not a '52 THAT card is one of my all-time favorites! I love that you guys are posting these sweeeeeeet looking cards!
This thread keeps getting better and better! That Younger is sweet! Love those AA's as well. Keep it going guys, and I can't wait until I have a new card to add.
Perkdog- nope not yet buddy. They are all expensive it seems, and being a bottom feeder it takes awhile. Got the Marchetti for $20, havent found the others for that price quite yet.
Got a few tall boys in the mail today from a good (crazy) friend.
Been working on getting them for a few months, he finally relented to a trade, although i have no idea what he's going to do with a pair of my underwear... oh well

Thanks Ryan! Honestly I highly doubt any of them will get a bump other than the Gifford, it should at least be in a 7.5 holder IMO.
Here is a comparison to a PSA 8 that just sold on Ebay today.. I like my 7 better thats why I didnt throw a nasty size bid on it.
>>
Your 7 is sweet looking. I saw that Gifford 8 and it was brutal. That's why it sold for 1/2 of smr. Ugly 8.
Good luck with the bumps.

Thanks BigRedDog....I searched for a long time for a Hornung 7, with nice centering and preferably in SGC.....and had to grab it when I found it.
