I told myself I would be making a 6,7 1955 Topps AA set and Have been doing just that. I prefer nice centering as opposed to offcenter higher grades. I just won a beautifuly centered PSA 8 Sid Luckman for well under SMR. I can't figure out why it did not get any auction action, but I sure am happy about it. Ill post pics when I recieve it. I plan on crossing my 55 set over to SGC holders.
Gorgeous 55's BigRed! Although I pretty much stick with PSA 7 I agree with the centering 100%- I would much rather have nice centering than anything else..
Please post a pic of that Luckman when you get a chance, Im sure its a great looking card!
No scan, but I have a '52 Bowman Large Tom Landry.
I don't know its formal PSA grade because I'm not a graded card collector, and I bought it a local card shop back in the early 80s, when you could still walk into shop and walk out with a find like that! I'm guessing its an EX (6?) but since I'm a Cowboy fan and not a speculator, I don't plan to part with it, regardless of its actual condition, and I don't need an upgrade either (certainly not at today's prices!).
Of all my Cowboys collection, this is my favorite card, even though technically, it predates the Cowboys.

I think the face Landry is making in this card is the same face he made when Clark caught "the catch" from Montana. At least thats how I felt when I saw it happen!

Yea I am finding out I might have created a monster! Im not sure Im that pumped about you going after these cards!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously I would LOVE to build this set but in all honesty it would be taking on a HUGE project especially in PSA 7 grade that I prefer- that is not realistic because I dont have the funds to land all these cards in 7 grade, not to mention I dont think its possible! There are so many SP's and low pops of these cards that are not available, right now Im just plugging along and grabbing some nicely centered 7's when available, I might- repeat MIGHT someday settle and pick up some of the toughest ones as "fillers" like 1-4 grades if I ever get enough of the set completed to think this way. But for now Im just a junkie with the football and cant stay away from other gems that catch my eye- there are still a bunch of 51's that I want along with some 53's before I "stick" with just the 52's. Then again I would also like to grab a few Chicles and 48 Leafs some time- so all in all I got WAY to much on my plate to even consider going after this set in any grade.
If we were to go back through this thread it would then be crystal clear as to why BigDaddyBowman has corrupted me with all these SWEEET Football cards and gotten me hooked!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice card Robert! Trust me its habit forming- BigDaddyBowman got me going, first it was an innocent one time purchase of a Baugh card now I am completely, helplessy hooked!

57 topps, this has always been one of my favs, ive been working on this set in psa 8 or better for almost 2 years
61 fleer. I just dig the photos, the team logo, all of it
56 topps presidents. Besides football, I collect presidential autographs. Ive always wanted to complete this set and instead of posting scans of the cards in the registry, I would post scans of the presidential autograph I have of each president

Frank the last few Lincoln psa 8's have gone for like $300 or so. I think its like a pop 10 or something like that. Crazy how rare some of these are.
I picked up the #1 pres card a month or so ago from a BBCE consignment for pretty cheap, I guess no one was looking, and i certainly didnt pop smoke on it
Joe, those President cards are really nice to look at. The artwork reminds me of some of the stuff that was in the history books back when I was in Elementary school, not to get sidetracked too much but I plan on adding a few to my collection. I actually grabbed this one the other day..
These I got in trade the other day from my good friend Ryan! Im not sure if the Waterfield will make the PSA crossover but I will give it a shot- either way I love the old Rams helmut in this card.

Arty, speaking of largents... sorry guys, this isnt quite vintage, but forever this 1980 topps#450 Largent card has been a pop 1 in psa 10 and nowhere to be found.
The other day I notice the pop hit two and Ive been scouring ebay waiting/ hoping to find it. Well as it turns out my good buddies at 4sc had gotten this one graded and I was able to pick it up for a good price. Very happy!!
