Bruce Brubaker (from the 1967 lot), one of our local guys (Owensboro, KY)! He owns our local Champion Ford/Lincoln/Mercury/Mazda dealership and came to our school on career day (back 10-15 years ago) as the professional athlete guy! He also writes a column for our local newspaper on Sundays called "I Bet You Didn't Know" which shows three little known sports trivia sorts of facts and the fourth one is typically a promo for his latest vehicle.
ttt Come get yourselves some cards from a real set
Collecting Minnie Minoso Master and Basic 1967 Topps PSA 8+ 1960's Topps run Mega Set "For me, playing baseball has been like a war and I was defending the uniform I wore, Every time I put on the uniform I respected it like the American flag. Bryon will get his trade in time. It's going to get harder each time the value goes up. Most people will jump on a $20 trade--a $300 trade thins the options...
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

I appreciate all the input on this since my last post ... Road trips, one sick-as-a-dog illness, and general burnout have kept me from pushing this '67 lot very vigorously, but I'm feeling recharged and I hope to get things rolling on this again.
Thought it wouldn't hurt to post closer looks here of the individual cards...
I think your best bet with that lot would be to try to trade them for say, a minor 1967 HOFer in PSA 9 or even 10 if you can swing it. That should get you back on track for sure.

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
The advise to auction all & start fresh is on the mark. Be sure everyone knows why they are on auction & you will get many good-will bids over actual value.
The "red paper clip dude" didnt sell anything. It was 100% trades.
And I cannot speak for Bryon, but I'm fairly certain he wants to stick 100% to trades.
Unfortunately, he chose a trade that does not have as much wide appeal as the Mantle, for example.
I think Bryon should stick it out for now. If he has to lower his expectations on expected trade value in order to proceed, then so be it. Someone else mentioned that it might be necessary to take a step backwards in order to take a step forwards and I believe this to be true.
Bryon, how about taking a small hit on this lot in order to get something with wider appeal?
Personally, this is my favorite thread on this board and I do not want to see it come to an end.

I agree totally. I've never posted in this thread but I love reading it. I think taking one step back to go two steps forward is the way to go. You could be as few as 6-7 trades away. Levi has a PSA 2 for sale for $7,500. If you could actually get him to agree to be the final trader, you may luck out. If I've read correctly, you are between $6-800 in value right now. I am really rooting for you to get there. I just wish I had something to offer.
On a couple of points that have been raised... I understand why some folks think I should split up the '67 lot or sell them on eBay and use the proceeds to purchase something else, etc... but I'm pretty resolved not to go either of those routes. I just prefer the simplicity (if that's the right word) of the pattern I've established to this point and want to stick with it. It may take more time this way, but that's OK. There are no deadlines to meet on this. As for taking a "step backward"... like I said when I first posted this lot -- I'm not as intent on gaining value with these cards as I am with consolidating the bulk of their value into something with a wider appeal. That's actually the point that I hoped would help move it a little easier... but it hasn't panned out yet.
I sent out emails earlier today to everyone on the 1967 Topps registry who has their email address listed there... some 80 people or more. Hopefully, that will turn up something.
I've just offered Bryon an autographed Joe DiMaggio card, slabbed and authenticated by PSA/DNA in exchange for the 1967 Topps lot. I figure it should be of interest to a wider range of collectors:
So should he trade or wait for a better offer?

Baseball HOF Autographs Topps Baseball 1967 Mike Payne's 300 Great Cards MVPs in their MVP years and T206???
SMR says an autographed DiMaggio gum card is worth $200. This one is slabbed, authenticated and not particularly common as far as I'm aware (Beckett don't even list a value for it).

Maybe an email to each of them that are showing their email icon?

I, too, would hate to see this stop. This lot just doesnt have a wide appeal (like the Mantle you had for instance).
