I've been lurking on this thread but I have to say that I'm impressed with your progress. This is a great project and the Martin should do well. Now I'm going to look through my cards to see if I have something to trade.

<< <i>That is Martin's rookie card? >>
Yes. He did have a few cards issued in 1948 and 1949, though, while he was in the minors.
I'm lovin this thread and the Martin looks great. You've made great so far progress... I have to say, this whole project is unbelievable and cannot wait to see the final trade!
Great job so far!!! He has gotten a Mantle (68) and a topps 52 (martin) but now will see how many steps to get them together. I was not busy with no Football or Baseball on tv so here is the recap.

Great job getting this far. Hope to see the next card soon.....
Good luck to you in your quest. I just put a 52 Mantle on layaway for myself. I wasn't clever enough to come up with the proposition you did. I hope your idea pays off for you in a big way. Keep working that trading block, it's a fun ride for us to watch.
wow, Bryon - that is very cool to get some great publicity! Nicely done article, with up-to-the-minute pictoral history to boot. How are the trade offers coming along?
Wow, that is very cool that they're following your progress. Good luck!!! Now be being one to never let an opportunity to ride someone's coatails go by, I will post here and be famous!!!

Wow, I am impressed! Already he's gotten the Mickey Mantle part and now he's got the 1952 part! If only do a trade up like this involving complete sets was this easy. And that is one FANTASTIC looking 1952 card! And let's face it, that "other" Mickey wasn't chopped liver either.
I'm within a hair of solidifying a deal for the Martin... Just waiting to hear back one more time from the other guy... been waiting all day, in fact... it's killing me!
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, Bryon. Yes, I will trade you a 1986 Topps Alan Knicely in NM condition for the Martin. PM me your address and I'll have it out to you tomorrow. Thanks again!
I have a feeling I know what is coming next........

I think you may pull this off since you're getting publicity. I can see a dealer making the last trade for the 52 Mantle just to get the press that will come with it.
That one would work fine. I never noticed it before, but Mantle's bat looks school-bus yellow in that shot.
And thanks for the bump to the thread, but there's nothing on the block at the moment. Where were you when that Marino sticker had a layer of dust on it?
It does give me a chance to extend a thanks to Guru who put a good word and a link to all this on his blog page... LINK. I appreciate it.
