On the 1962 Topps cards I've seen that were recolored, the black had bled onto the edges of the cards. If I held the card such that only the edge was showing, I could see black spots where it was recolored. I don't know how well that will work with a card in a holder, though.

Hold the card to the side and you should be able to see any bleed on the edge of the corners.
Also, I would be more concerned about it being trimmed. Especially considering the slight flare at the corners and the uneven cut. Note that the bottom is not symmetrical with the top AND the right is not symmetrical with the left. This is not because of a diamond cut, but most probably due to trimming (bottom and right at least).
What are the most expensive PSA rookies for McDaniel, DT, and Woodson, based on sale prices? I don't want to respond to the poll based on just guessing.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. I'm selling a large portion of my football HOF rookie card collection on eBay under shagman77. As many of you know, I'm about as picky as they get, so you can trust that these are all high-end cards.

Five days without a post. I could not let this go to the second page. I finally got my Payton PSA 8 added. Moved me up a nice chunk. I still have a few more to add from this years class. I should be at 50% by Spring- Wahhoooooo
We also finally got the modern set additions approved and added to the Future HOF- Modern set yesterday. All that we submitted got voted in as usual.
Thanks to all who participated. We will do it again next january for the modern guys, and this coming September for the Senior guys.

I'm here to question, not to inspire or build up. To live how I want, as I see fit, according to my values and my needs. Nothing holds dominion over me, I stand alone as the ruler of my life.
<< <i>I see they changed the Kennedy RC to Action Packed. Are they going to change the Seau RC as well or will it stay as is. >>
They sent out a poll on it previously. It is 100% not going to be the Score Supplemental. The Beckett RC Encyclopedia doesn't recognize it and therefore PSA is not going to allow it on the HOF RC set.
The poll they sent gave optional cards to select, the same ones as Kennedy. Since the Action Packed Kennedy was chosen, I would assume the Seau Action Packed will also be chosen. We should get the official word from PSA no later than next week on which Seau will be the HOF RC eligible Seau.

Yes this has been a dead zone lately.. I guess that's what happens in February....
The combine was last week here in indy. My wife is a CT technologist at the hospital in which the players get their physicals. So she would come home each day and tell me who she had to scan. (sanchez, crabtee, laurinitis, etc....) Thats pretty cool.
I haven't bought a single upgrade to my set since finishing it 2 months ago. I did, however, put a bid on every single one (71) of Shags cards but I am only high bidder on 3 right now. I was hoping a few would fall between the cracks but prices look pretty strong. Hopefully Andy will tell us how he did overall after the dust settles.
Anyway, hope everyone is surviving the economic crisis by keeping your jobs. I've been lucky so far. Hopefully healthcare wont take a huge hit......
<< <i>I see they changed the Kennedy RC to Action Packed. Are they going to change the Seau RC as well or will it stay as is. >>
I think thats crap!! The Kennedy sup card is in the 90's decades set, it should be the one in the future HOF set. The Seau is already a part of the future HOF set, to change it now would, well it wouldnt make me happy
I for one wont to be chasing two versions of modern cards to satisfy a registry, like the old Terrell Davis super bowl MVP and future HOF thing, that was the first straw.
Its no wonder I hate collecting all the modern crap, 20 different versions of a rookie card that I dont care to learn about
Joe, I believe they will be changing all the sets to be consistant. It seems PSA now thinks Beckett is the Bible and will be following it to determine which cards will be eligible for all these sets.
I hate all these modern cards too. That's why I want to upgrade my older cards before diving into this modern jungle.......
This has obviously been covered before, but I think it is ridiculous that because Beckett(who actually uses this as a true pricing source regarding Registry cards?????) says a modern rookie card of a guy that is issued only in a complete set form, never in a pack despite multiple major brand issues being released in packs, is considered their best rookie card.
Don't worry too much Joe, the rules will change in a few years and your Score Supplementals will be the cards to own again.
i guess the real question is will PSA kill the golden goose.
i would bet that there is a correlation bewteen their volume and the popularity of the set registry. now maybe our little sets wont kill it alone but the more issues that people have with the registry the less people will use it and the less cards they will have graded.

We vote for Senior additions every September. I think we added 3 last year. Nothing will change as far as which Seniors might possibly be added to the set until this years Senior HOF committee selections where we can see who made the final 15-17 seniors just prior to their selection of the 2 finalists. Otherwise, all of those guys are retired and nothing has changed for any of them since September in which those who are not already on the set, did not get the majority vote here.

Yes, it is based on SMR in PSA 8. Highest valued card in the set gets a 10.0, lowest valued card gets a 1.0 and you fill in the rest using common sense. After entering all the values in PSA 8 I usually sort my spreadsheet from most expensive to least and then fill in the middle making sure no higher valued card has a lower grade weight.
An easy way is using a tier system. For example, cards valued $1-$49 = 1.0, from $50-$99=1.5, from $100-$149=2.0, etc. Usually base it on how big the spread is from the highest to lowest value.

McAfee helped the Blue Devils to a 24-4-1 record and two Southern Conference titles between 1937 and 1939. He led Duke in rushing, receiving, scoring, kickoff returns, punt returns, interceptions and punting during his senior season. He earned first-team All-America honors, and Duke went 8-1.

"George McAfee helped establish the proud tradition of the Chicago Bears," the team said in a statement. "His versatility led to his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as he played offense, defense and special teams on three championship teams (1940, 1941 and 1946). George also served his country in the Navy during WWII. We are proud to have him as an integral part of our history and are saddened by his passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family."
If anyone is planning on attending the Philadelphia show this weekend , send me a chat . Its a great chance to meet up ! Looks like its going to be a great show this year , they have big time names signing this year. I'm looking forward to checking out some of the Mile High cards in the auction in person.

In eight seasons with Chicago, McAfee gained more than 5,000 all-purpose yards and had 21 interceptions. His 35-yard interception return for a touchdown helped the Bears take a 73-0 victory over the Washington Redskins in the 1940 NFL Championship Game.
