<< <i>I simply can't believe there are still slots left >>

I think a little too many pack rips going on at the same time may be the reason...... >>

I see what you're saying lostdart. I think I just figured that even with people getting caught up in all the rips we'd still fill this one pretty quick just because the cost was so relatively low for the amount of wax we get in return. Plus, with at least 3 packs from each year you really improve your odds of pulling one of the respective years' big cards. From '84 - '89 the addition of Donruss, Fleer and Upper Deck really improves the quality of the whole rip.

So junkie, ( sorry i do not know your name)

If I may be so bold and for all of our benefit, please explain how all this is going to work..............You will have all the boxes in your possession and will be doing the mailing yourself?? Do you have all the boxes in your possession at this time?? ...........or perhaps picking them up when you travel to BBCE for the 75 box break.

You sure you have enough S/H charges built into the price per person??

Please be assured that I have all the confidence in the world about this .....just being the devil's advocate and making sure all bases are covered.

    Your efforts are appreciated...

Just wanted to say thanks guys for helping make this rip go smooth so far. Wasn't sure how it was going to turn out but it's turning out to be worth the time to put together.image

Now lets get the goods and start ripping image

This is very un-Arny. If nothing else I figured I would've bumped into him while peeping at all the others' 80s pack rip threads. image

I think Arny's as excited as I am to do this. I hope the guy's alright.

    80sJunkie,

By any chance were you able to snap a photo of all 30 '80s wax boxes? That would be a cool picture. image

i was wondering what everyone thinks. What is the ONE card you would be happy with pulling even if every other card from all the other packs is crap. Mine is probably the 89 griffey UD. I have never owned this card and it would be sweet to get it pack fresh! What about everyone else?

    Hmmm ... excellent question.

I don't think I can pin it down to just one but if I got any one of the following I would be a happy camper.

    '89 UD Griffey
    '86 Donruss Canseco
    '85 Topps McGwire
    '85 Clemens (any)
    '84 Donruss Mattingly
    '83 Gwynn (any)
    '82 Ripken (any)
    '81 Valenzuela
    '80 Topps Henderson

I think I'm lucky in the sense that there are a great deal of cards that have virtually no monetary value that I would really enjoy pulling:

    '88 Fleer Mark Grace
    Any '88 Greg Jefferies
    Any '87 Bo Jackson
    Any '86 Clemens
    Any '83-'85 Wade Boggs
    '87 Donruss Mike Greenwell image
'85 Topps or '86 Donruss Barbaro Garbey Garbey (no, that's not a typo. His full name is Barbaro Garbey Garbey image)
    Any Dwight Gooden RC
    Any Daryl Strawberry RC
    '82 Topps Lee Smith
    '83 Topps Frank Viola
    Any '85 Eric Davis RC
    '87 Fleer Will Clark
    '89 Donruss Curt Schilling

And a host of others. What can I say? I'm easily pleased. Most of this stuff -- if not all -- I haven't ripped since it came out so I have this tendency to root for the pulls I wanted back then. image

If I could pull a Clemens rookie from one of those 85's then I would be perfectly content with getting commons on the rest.

1980 Henderson. Never opened any of it, about the only 80s set I don't have.

Also some error cards. An 88 Comstock White, or an 89 Ripken.

On that note, just how common are those 88 topps errors? Maybe that is a set that should be collected more if the errors are hard to come by.....even though the print run has one hundred billion quadrillion (dollars).
    Trying to complete:
    2000 Bowman Chrome
    2002 Topps Heritage NAP
2003 Topps Heritage chrome and seat relics
2006 Topps Heritage refractors and relics
2007 Topps Heritage refractors and relics
2008 Topps Heritage refractors and relics
2006 Topps Heritage and Topps Chrome football

The comstocks were fairly easy to pop back in the day..alot easier than the Ripken FF card...
There were also the Eddie Murray and Mark McGwire leader errors (or corrected variations ) at the start of the set '88 too...

PS....when are these things going out?? I NEED to rip!!

'88 Topps also had an Al Leiter RC error/variation that I can't quite remember.

From the last 80's breaks, I picked up a few good cards but not any of the big ones if I remember right. I'd like to pull a pack full of centered '84 Donruss cards that I need to complete the set with! image
