I can't stand it. Add me to the list too.
    James
  • For those that are already in I forgot to add 89 upperdeck and bowman it would make the total 74 instaed of 70 and 32 packs instead of 30 does this sound ok with everyone. PLMK
    Garyimage

Update:The consensus seems to be add the 89 ud and bowman so changed it officially now 32 packs all major card companies accounted for. Plus hopefully someone pulls a sweet ud griffey.image

I thought it would be fun to post some nice cards for circa 1989, since this is the proposed "first year rip"

Stars like, Schmidt, Rose, Brett, Carter, Griffey, Ozzie, Maddux, Ripken, Winfield, Sanberg, Eck, Dawson, Mattingly, Clemens, Gwynn, Yount, Bonds, [Brock, Aaron, i.e., 1989 Topps #'s 662, 663, "Turn Back The Clock cards], Fisk, Robinson, more!.

Above are some of the 1989 Topps cards I highlighted (...then we got '89 Donruss, UD, Bowman, Fleer & Score too? Wow!).

...plus 1989 Rookie cards like: Curt Shilling, Ken Grifffey, Jr., Randy Johnson, Gary Sheffield, John Smoltz

And the year 1989 is only the first scheduled rip? This should be tons of fun! image

So, here is my contribution of a nice 1989 scan:

    Hey Junkie.......

I almost forgot that i do have one issue that may prevent me from getting in on this............This is the kind of package ( size wise) that is routinely shipped out by BBCE via UPS ground.................I do not live in the continental USA ( US Virgin Islands instead)........UPS ground is not a shipping option to me.................USPS is the ONLY option to me............I , of course, do not mind paying more for my shipping, but at the same time do not want to "put a snag in the works" and/or create anything other then smooth sailing for yourself.

Always looking for interesting Don Mattingly and New York Yankees related items.
  • lostdart i will most likely ship usps priority mail. Thats what i figured in the costimage
    oh and nyydm23 your in.
  • Count me in if there are any slots left!
  • got you in piman only 3 slots leftimage
  • I simply can't believe there are still slots left. When Junkie made the initial post in the other 80s rip thread I was literally nervous that when signups began I would miss out because it would fill in about an hour. At roughly $2.33 per pack I don't understand how anyone can pass it up. There are so much that I have never ripped like 80 Topps, 84 Donruss, 85 Fleer, etc.

Adding the Donruss and Fleer are even better than the Topps because all of those sets had only 660 cards in them as opposed to Topps' 792 so the colation and odds we'll pull at least one the big cards (three Clemens RCs, 3 Mattingly RCs, 3 Ripken RCs, 3 each of Boggs, Gwynn, Sandberg, 3 Cansecos, 3 Bonds including a nice 87 Fleer issue, etc.)

Hell, I even like the '88 Fleer set. I wouldn't mind pulling a sweet Mark Grace RC. The great thing about adding the Donruss and Fleer is that it gives those intial years (87-89) a little more of a boost. I mean, which would you rather rip -- 87 Topps or 87 Fleer? No brainer. Who knows, maybe we'll snag a Ripken card in the 89s?

I'm so excited for this that I'm fighting the urge not to just buy the remaining slots myself because the deal is just too good to pass up. Thanks again to 80sJunkie and Steve Hart for making this possible.

    Arthur

Edited to add: I forgot all about the 89 Upper Deck and Bowman! Oh man, I can't wait!

I think a little too many pack rips going on at the same time may be the reason......
