As I mentioned above, I just started this set in PSA 9 or above --- so I'm looking for anything gradeable. I obviously have a LOOONGGGG way to go.

These 4 look sharp. No big names, but PSA 9's are valuable to me no matter who they are.

I nominate this for the BEST PACK OF THE BUST!!!!!!!!

Seriously, in one pack I get:

    1. My second card of John Henry Johnson, with the exact same 'fro he has on the '87 topps card.
    2. Jay Johnstone with a Budweiser umbrella cap. Dude, that rules!
    3. Larry McWilliams holding an older Fleer card of himself.

    I LOVE IT!!!!!!!

... and that, my friends, is what makes these busts so much fun!

    Hello to all,

For the 1983 Topps Rip, please let me know if you pull a #604 Joe Morgan card (and can spare it).
This is the last card I need for my SF Giants Team set.

    thank you,

I am way behind... so I'll just share the highlights.

And I use that term loosely.

A good pack of 88 Score, and a very good pack of 87 Fleer (which I saw someone else got as well.) Other than that, a few scattered HOFers, nothing exceptional.

Of interest: I got 7 Bob Boone cards. Guess I should start a registry set. Also got a lot of Graig Nettles and Steve Garvey.

Fun fact: Steve Garvey once hit on my ex-wife, in front of me, at the 1998 All-Star FanFest. Things being what they are, looks like I came out better paying attention to Orlando Cepeda and Red Schoendienst anyhow.

My 1984 Donruss pack was extremely well-centered and very sharp. Anyone need any raw 84 Donruss?

My 1985 Donruss pack, on the other hand, looks like it was hand-cut by Michael J. Fox.... in the dark. The Henke I posted is representative.

Read 'em and weep. I sure did.

    Thanks '80s Junkie!

For my '83 Fleer pack....it was fun rippin' it, but not a lot to show for it. Although, I like the centering on the "penguin" card! image

    ...the rest went like this...

    Bob Mitchell

    Duane Walker
    Ray Burris
    Willie Aikens
    Wally Backman
    Mike Proly
    Lynn Jones

.....so, not a lot in this one...but hopefully I'll pull some perfectly centered Sandberg, Boggs or Gwynn rookies out of the Donruss and Topps! image

That Gwynn RC looks real nice! I, personally, like the 83F better than the Topps.

BTW, I never pulled a centered Gwynn from Topps! Very unlucky.

Wow I'm glad I decided to open this 83 test pack.
I didn't pull any stars but I think at least 6 or so have psa 10 potential. The color on these are magnificent.
I wonder if topps quality control was better on these because they were test packs or if the plastic wrapper just kept them fresher all these years .
Either way I am still stunned by the color on these after 23 years.image

Here are some of my 1982 cards:

    image

For either fuzzy photos or bad printing, 1982 Fleer takes the cake!

The Fleer Brett looks like a PSA "8.4" and the Topps Sutter looks like a "9.6", in my estimation. I might send the Sutter in for grading during the next cheap special.

As usual, I'm a bit behind .... here are the highlights from my '83 packs:

    image

Heavy on the George Brett .....

I've also gotta say, I really like the 83 Fleer. Clean, simple design and the cards in my pack were razor sharp. The Brett I pulled is in PSA 9 or 10 condition, easily.

    image

That's right ladies and gentleman .... my THIRD John Henry Johnson card. I'd never heard of him before this bust, but three cards later (spanning the years '82, '84, and '87), I am well acquainted.

The great thing about '82 is our friend John Henry did NOT have his infamous fro.

    So ...
    '82, no fro
    '84 fro
    '87, idential fro as '84.

Anyone have the '83 John Henry card ---- it'd serve as the missing link!
