Thanks Don! Reading this thread and looking at your cards has helped my eye! Thanks for all the kind words everybody and keep on showing the best set of the sixties! Can you imagine if they had All-Star cards at the end of the last series? I heard they ran out of time.

Here is a '63 toughie! Finally pulled the trigger(not to my head but on second thought...)!
Tallulah Bankhead — 'There have been only two geniuses in the world. Willie Mays and Willie Shakespeare.'
I sold it for a 5 dollar profit...
It's mine forever and you can't have it back!
Framed? I am sending it in to get slabbed then maybe framed.
Don, I absolutely love that piece and it went to a good home (mine) that cherishes it everyday.
I love that half the players have no hat or a blackened out one,it makes for good conversation.
It even has a Giant on it who went undefeated for them after the trade then at the end of his career came back to S.F. and gave it all back. Giants trades...bad dreams, horrible nightmares!
Any more info on that item would be greatly appreciated.

I see a slight hint of a smile on his '63 card ………..but I agree with you that getting traded
to the Cardinals boosted his career tremendously !
What do you guys think of my 1963 Brock here ……….do you think the centering would
prevent it from getting a 8.5 ………...razor sharp edges , corners , gloss that looks like paint drying ,
no print blemishes anywhere ,small white specks are dust lint , and bright deep colors ! I've contemplated about subbing it for a
review ? Bought this card from Bdogecards long before Psa instituted the half point grade system !

Of course the Giants had something to do with Brock going to the Cardinals. Ernie Broglio went 25-7 in two years with the Giant's minor league team in 1957 and '58 so what do they do? They trade him for Billy Muffett!!!! Ernie becomes a twenty game winner drinks himself off the Cards who trade him to the Cubbies and is out of the league at 30. Another disaster for the Giants. I hope Billy is enjoying his curds.
The card is sweet. I have seen a lot of '63 Brock cards that look really nice. That series seems to have an abundance of high end grades.
Tallulah Bankhead — 'There have been only two geniuses in the world. Willie Mays and Willie Shakespeare.'
Psychump -- I had not previously focused on the Giants connection to Broglio and the eventual Brock deal. Interesting. Also was unaware of a drinking issue in the trade to Chicago. I do know that at the time of the trade the Cards were well aware that Broglio was developing significant arm issues. I believe Ernie is still with us.

Back in the day when I sold cards at a flea market, there was this guy who would buy all cards of players from NorCal. He would hang around and tell stories of these guys. One was about Broglio. At the time of the trade Bob Gibson was critical of the Cardinals decision. After about 3 months he was heard saying "I told you that was a great trade!"
"You know we just don't recognize the most significant moments of our lives while they're happening. Back then I thought, well, there'll be other days. I didn't realize that that was the only day."
One of the best trades the Cardinals didn't make was not moving Gibson after 58 and 59. If Bob thought the Broglio trade was a bad idea I wonder how excited he was about getting Rick Wise for Steve Carlton

OK Don, you ask and you shall receive! Tougher card to get without all the fish eyes in the inset photo. I lucked out and found one that had none!
Helluva batter with Detroit for years. Downhill after he was traded but who could forget years later his Wallbangers? The 1982 pennant winning Brewers who lost in 7 to the Cardinals.
Sure do like that red background in the inset!

Really sharp card Kuenn ! Copied from Wiki and I thought was a interesting tidbit of baseball lore !
Kuenn had the dubious distinction of making the final out in two of Sandy Koufax's four no-hitters—in 1963 and 1965. In the former, the final out was on a ground ball back to Koufax.[4] In the latter, he struck out for the final out in Koufax's perfect game.[5]
