That is good news about Hinkse. With the injuries to Nixon and VTek the lineup has six righthanded sticks. Hinske should get some time. I wonder who they are going to send down or release.
You're getting a bulldog in Hinske. This guy will run through a wall for you. Just the perfect teammate. He can play 1B/3B/RF/LF and has 12 HRs in less than 200 at bats. He is a great pick up. We, Blue Jay fans, will miss him.
I was happy to hear about Hinske - seems like the perfect fit for what the Sox need right now. To hear that he's a good clubhouse guy as well is even better. I just hope he doesn't take AB's away from Willy Mo - that guy can hit the ball a ton, he just needs playing time.
Good pickup in Hinske, but I expected a Yankee win today with Jason Johnson on the mound(Trust me living in the Baltimore/DC area I saw WAY to much of this guy, imo he doesn't deserve a roster spot on any team in the Bigs). Tonight will be fun to watch, as I just went out and picked up a 30 pack and I'm grilling up some grub.

Hinske was fantastic this afternoon. 3 doubles, all well hit, and he's starting tonight as well.
I was listening to the second part of the game in my car, all I could get was the Yankee network and John Sterling - when the Red Sox PA announcer mentioned that Hinske had 3 doubles and he was the first Sox player to do that in some time, Sterling says "The announcer is blabbering something about Hinske - anyway, back to the game". That guy has zero class.
With fan and media criticism mounting with each loss, Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein faced the music before tonight’s game at Fenway Park.
Epstein, who has taken heat for not making a big splash at the trade deadline, spoke at length to a swarm of reporters, unwavering in his comments about sticking to his long-term goal of creating an organization that’s built to win not just today but year in and year out.
“We have to plan for the future, we can’t be reactive, we can’t throw money at problems,” he said, stressing that the team was far from throwing in the towel on the 2006 season. “We have to stick to the plan.”
Epstein said he thought it was important to take a big-picture look instead of focusing on the short-term, which certainly hasn’t been pretty for the Red Sox. He stressed that the team was applying the same principles this year as they have in years past (“one eye on this year, one eye on the future”),
The Red Sox will go nowhere under this DISGUISE. One eye on this year and one eye on the next OK Theo! Before you know it Ortiz, Manny, and Curt will be either GONE or past their prime. Sox fans should be pissed off at the Sox "leadership" for NOT DOING what they could have to win THIS YEAR. Instead they swallow this garbage hook line and sinker. Paplebon is the ONLY guy who has lived up to the hype that DelCarmen, Lester, and Hanson were billed with.
Fine by me!
Sox fans, don't forget about how much you digged on the Yankees farm system, their pitching, their leadership, and even their f'ing announcers. Don't go and cry now that I am having some fun at the pathetic Red SOx expense. I may sound beligerent to you guys, but I waited until the time was RIPE baby
Yup, the Yankees have handled the Sox with ease this series and deserve all the credit.
I agree with Theo's long term outlook and one series does not change the perspective on that. Delcarmen, Lester and Hansen are future hype, not present hype. A lot of young pitchers start out poorly. Very few come out of the gate looking like Roger Clemens or Pedro Martinez.

I do wish we could have landed another starter, are problems will continue to be finding a solid 5th starter.
I really thought he was washed up.

I just read that Hinske hit three doubles in his debut! Way to go Eric.
