Its still a looooooooong way to go in this game.

That is the worst stuff I have seen Beckett have to date. Not just this season too. Cleveland did the same thing to him not too long ago and the Blue Jays hammered him as well. I wonder if he is hurt somehow and just gutting it out? His fastball tonight made a Farnsworth fastball look like a knuckle ball.

Maybe Cashman and Steinbrenner will realize they do not need overpriced veterans to build a championship team. They seem to be just fine without Sheffield and Matsui.

Hey did anyone notice that melky fell to the ground after bouncing off the wall when he robbed Manny of a homer? Is that what a certain guy meant earlier in the thread? If so Melky can fall all he wants!

Looks like Sheffield is out until September now, he opted for wrist surgery. Thinking about grabbing Melky Cabrera off the free agent list in my league but not sure how much Bernie Williams will play?

Even if he does play, he won't be giving you much help in your lineup. I'd suggest elsewhere, as his best days are long, long gone.

Ok, there are two things that are really begining to make me sick to my stomach while watching the Yankees games. The first is Michael Kay. He is getting unbearable to listen to. Hearing him talk about how major league parks need to start putting netting around the box seat areas to prevent getting hit from fly balls was the final straw for me. Just because this uncoordinated nitwit couldnt catch water if he fell out of a boat doesnt mean we have to go and ruine one of the true joys of baseball. No doubt in my mind that he spent his entire childhood being the last kid picked for teams. If he wants netting around the whole park, go announce games in Japan and get the hell away from the Yankees.

The second thing is watching Mr. Rodriguez chomp away at his gum, endlessly blowing bubbles. Every time I see this half a fool he makes me want to walk up and smack him in the back of the head till he chokes on that bubbalicious. I just cant explain it, and it really has nothing to do with his play, but this guy really, really gets under my skin.

    What's the Yanks pitching rotation?

I'm looking to see who will take the mound next Wednesday against Cleveland when the wife and I fly in for the game.

I see Johnson, Mussina, Chacon and Wang. Is that it and in the right order? If so then the Unit will be pitching. They show Wang on the 13th but it stops there.
  • bri2327bri2327 Posts: 3,178 ✭✭
I think you're rght on with Johnson.

Watching Johnson is both angering and heartbreaking at the same time. I know he likes warmer weather but he needs to perform in ALL weather. I think its time Yankees decide to rest his arm and bring up one of the young guys who are doing well. The Columbus Clippers have 3 guys pitching extremely well...Colter Bean, Kris Wilson, and Darrell Rasner. I would like to see them give one of those guys a chance..or all 3 a chance...regardless what they are paying Johnson.

Look, a guy asked for input on Bernie and I gave it. It may be tough to hear, but he's done, and he'll likely retire at the end of this year. At no point in that analysis is there a reference to any 'non factual' statement before it. Quit grasping.

Any coincidence that it's been 3 straight yankee losses, and three straight nights with no yankee 'fans' posting? The ones that supposeldy were here rain or shine?

Ax, for CHRI$T$ sake, can you please allow us to have one damn thread where we can talk about our team without a damn argument. Every F-ing team has a thread where people are allowed to speak about their team. Is anyone interrupting those threads by being a first class DICK ?? Would it take that much out of you to just let us have some enjoyment without you butting in ? What purpose is there in coming in here and bothering people ? Dont you do that enough on the other posts ? Go start a f-ing Mariners thread, talk about your own team, act like a fan instead of an immature pi$$ bucket. You are in here purely out of spite and you know it.

  • Eh so what? Axtell talks a lot of trash about Bernie Williams. Big Bernie is one of those guys I've grown up watching in a Pinstripes. He's clutch, yeah he's close to the end of his career, but hell how can he hurt the Yanks? He'll always be one of my favorites, as I have gotten to see his whole career in front of my eyes, no matter that he doesn't make it to the Hall he'll make it in every New York fans' heart. Anyway I'm back from vacation, how bout them Yanks!!!!!

Bernie has always been a class act. he gets standing ovations now almost all the time. he will always be remm as a yankee in the highest regard.

But, like Dan said, Ax was jumped when all he was doing was answering a question. Reputation is everything, and that is a reason some bit first. In any event How bout my METS?

Yanks are mired in their worst stretch of the season thus far. Fortunately the Blue Jays and Red SOx can not sustain anything either. 4 losses in a row after taking 3 of 4 from Detroit, 2 of 3 from Baltimore and 2 of 3 from the Red Sox. Actually, that one loss to the Sox started this 4 game losing streak. They will be fine. 4 game losing streaks always feel alot worse then winning streaks feel good. image

I hear Octavio Dotel is two weeks away from joing the Yankees. He has looked very sharp by all accounts. If he is anywhere close to what he was with the A's come August and September the entire makeup of the Yanks pen changes. Cross your fingers Yankee fans image

Having some home grown young guys activated and put on the roster is great despite how crushing it is to see Sheffield out till September.

Melky is a nice surprise. He is hitting well and that is going to help the team fill a void in the batting order.

Mussina seems to be the ace of the staff. Johnson is just inconsistent right now. The loss of Matsui and Sheffield are huge, but the Yankees can still do well.

I wont be crushed if Sheffield never returns. I could care less what his bat provides. Matsui is the only one I am upset about. Sheffield can leave at the end of the year and take Giambi with him.
