I would love to see ARod successful in NY. He will hopefully get over some of his "issues" and just play some good baseball. He could take a good lesson from the already settled in Bobby Abreu.

I'd rather have Mike Lowell...I was pissed when he was dealt away..still am...but don't tell "the nation"

    Excellent point Barry.

Abreu has come here and made himself right at home from the get go. Thats really all its about. Nobody is questioning the god given ability of Arod. He just has issues upstairs that are keeping him from being everything he can be here. To see how Abreu stepped in so cool and collected is something that can only help Arod ease up and realize this isnt world altering stuff here, its just baseball, just a game, and just supposed to be fun.

Where were the haters last year saying he wasn't 'settled in' when he was winning an MVP award and leading the team to the playoffs?

Man you guys crack me up.

So Axhole, you are saying that ARod looks comfortable? Yes, last year he looked A LOT more comfortable but that has gone. Are you watching the game? He K'ed AGAIN in a critical situation. I don't expect him to get a hit every time a guy is on base or when the game is tied but PLEASE put the bat on the ball! I dont think you have to be a rocket scientist to see that he isnt comfortable on the field or at the plate. Sure, he will get his numbers but he needs to make contact in those critical situations. Not even a chance to make something happen when you wiff.

Axhole, you are the one that is putting ARod HIGH on the pedistal. I think most reasonable Yankees fans just want him to play smarter ball.

Jesus f'ing christ you guys are unreal. He hits a home run, drives in 2 runs, and you want to focus on the K's?

There is nothing in the world this guy can do that will EVER earn him praise with mindless drones like you guys in the stands.

For at least the 7,657th time Ax, Arod did not deserve the MVP last year. He did not lead the team to anything. He was one of MANY players on the Yankees who contributed. He has not looked comfortable since he came here. You do not watch the games to be able to determine well enough what he does here, or how he appears.

BTW Ax, nice win by your M's tonight. They got the key outs when it mattered, and Beltre stepped up big for them.

And for the 7658th time, it seems the people who know a hell of a lot more about baseball thought he did. Even if you disagree with his winning the MVP, how do you dispute this:

.321 BA, 48 HR, 130 RBI? Was he uncomfortable last year? Or were all those HRs hit in meaningless at bats?

<< <i>BTW Ax, nice win by your M's tonight. They got the key outs when it mattered, and Beltre stepped up big for them. >>

Beltre really turned the corner when they moved him up into the 2 hole, and been floating between 2 and 3 spots...huge turnaround for him this year over where he started off at.

Are you pounding your keyboard and screaming with tears when you were typing this? image

If you didn't notice, I gave ARod some props earlier. Of course I was happy to see that happen. But 3 K's is a bit too much. ARod is just a bit above pace for strikeouts this year. The problem is, we dont have a stat that tells K's in critical situations. That has been a huge problem...not getting the bat on the ball in those at bats. Things can still happen when you put the ball in play, even if it's an out for himself.

It's a very simple concept. I know you understand fully well why it is frustrating for Yankees fans...and even more so for ARod. Even ARod can admit to his short comings this season..but you just don't get it!

It is highly debatable over whether or not those who vote have a clue about baseball Ax. The MVP means absolutely nothing to me either way. It is a popularity contest voted on by writers who dont watch 98% of the games that the people they vote for play in. Regardless, he hasnt looked comfortable. He has even admitted it. It really isnt a secret. I dont know why you cant get it through your head that myself and most others dont hate the guy or want to see him fail. It is just a fact, plain and simple that every issue with Arod is upstairs.

Regarding Beltre, am I wrong or was he batting 3rd tonight ? You mentioned the move to the 2 whole and I didnt know if you meant in general or tonight. Also, wasnt Meche supposed to be starting tonight ? I thought I had read that in the paper here.

Where's the criticism for abreu? He had 2 k's as well? And where was the rest of the yankees offense? why was that 'bum' and abreu the only guys driving in runs tonight?

No, I completely understand he's having a down year. But to jump a guys nuts for striking out after homering in the same guy is surreal. It's obvious - he can do nothing right in your eyes!

In May? I think (not exactly sure, may have been June) after bouncing down all the way to 6th, Hargrove put him in the 2 spot and he's been hitting quite well since then. Lopez has been struggling as of late, and I can't help but think its the effects of his first full year wearing down on him. He's normally the 3 guy.

And Meche was supposed to go tonight, but he said the poor condition of the pitching mound in Oakland on his last start caused him some wierd soreness that pushed his next start back to saturday against the sox.

Ohhhh Axy, you have it all wrong!

First off, I wasnt challenging you to a duel with the pounding the keyboard and tears comment image

Second, Abreu isnt getting beat up on because he has been producing and playing solid defense. And as much as I know you would like it, the Yankees offense isnt going to produce 10 runs a game. That really was kind of a dumb statement about the Yankees offense. Not only that, they did score 5 runs...I dont see that as the offense not showing up tonight.

Third, I am glad to hear that you can admit that ARod is having an off year...because you are the one who has been riding ARods nuts all year. Its obvious from your posts.

And lastly, I have less than 1400 posts since 2001...compare that to almost 11,000 since 2004...who spends their life on the boards?

You know, I saw a video of a german kid trying to get a video game to load, and he was crying and yelling, and it made me think of dopes like you. What a clown.

Hmm 5 runs and they still lost. That, in effect, speaks to the weakness of the yankees - piss poor starting pitching. But abreu surely can pitch, too, right?

PSA forum is never a " good " way to kill a few hours at work. Work is for work, not for wasting company time and money. Cal Ripken would never have wasted time on the computer when he was at work image

I almost never play video games....and I know you would certainly kick my butt when it comes to sorcery baking skills.

Yankees pitching? Hmmm...hasnt been all that horrible. 11th in the league in ERA...still in the top half of the league. Sure it could use improvement but most teams are in worse situations. And oh, Yankess have the 3rd best winning pct. in the league and tops of their division. I think they can handle being 11th in pitching. So please, don't lose sleep over that.

It's good you are so protective of ARod
    imageimage

And no, I don't work at McDonalds. I have a great profession/career Axy. In fact, I am in the business of helping the sick and injured. Something I sure you would know little or nothing about. I am also fortunate enough to be able to hop online when I am at work. But, my being online doesnt steal from who I work for. I would hope the same can be said for you.

Not my 'hero' per se, but you could do a hell of a lot worse in picking an athlete who you'd like your kids to emulate. Hard working, first one in the gym every day, and never in trouble off the field - yeah, he's a pretty good guy.

So, why didn't biggio play yesterday?

    hahahahahahaha

    thanks for the laugh fudin.
  • Wow, e-rod goes 0-5 with 4 more ks... stay sick erod, we can get those numbers out of Nick Green... I guess he feels that for 25 mil George wants to see him in the top 5 of SOME offensive category, so strikeouts (139!!!!!) (139!!!) it will be. There probably is some excuse, like always, some minor injury that we're not hearing about - I'm guessing shrunken testicles or an undersized heart...
  • Arod has struck out 8 times in his last 9 at bats. Pitiful for a guy making $25 Million a year. You got to wonder what is going on with him since he won the MVP last year. Hopefully its just an off year for him. I kind of wish the Yankees had kept Soriano but then again Cano would have probably been traded before he was brought up to the Big Leagues and got a chance.
  • Soriano probably wouldn't have ever been traded without the poor postseason showing in 2003. it just seemed like the Sox and Florida could get him out at will in big spots with off speed stuff in the dirt... who knew we would end up with similar production and mental problems for 3-4x the salary?
