    Hi guys
This year I'm on the "slow" track.

I just got a few retail blisters.

I've got too much time on my hands - been reading the cards and looking at the backs.

But, then I came to the gum. I noticed the gum in the blister was pink and hard as a rock! It has sugar in it. While I believe the gum in the retail "loose" packs (24 ct.) is sugarless.

Now I know this has immensely enriched your lives!

    Dan
Just for clarity - it looks like retail gum comes in two variations.

The loose packs I bought - had the gum on the left - sugarless.

The blister boxes have the pink gum - sugar filled and quite tasty - tho hard as nails!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I'm on vacation in AZ and, as some of you may know, AZ has a Target every so often.

So I swing into one to get a wedding card and come out with 3 blister boxes, 5 packs, a wedding card, and a Mt. Dew. I have a shipment of Heritage waiting for me when I get home, but I decided I had waited long enough. Wish I had my scanner here. Don't even have the SP checklist with me, but 2 pulls I don't need it!

Eddie O'Brien REAL ONE RED AUTO

STAN THE MAN REAL ONE AUTO!!!!!!

Should I quit while I'm ahead???????? That's 2 Real Ones in 29 packs!!!!!!! Just had to get on and share!

  • Just updated my web page with more 2006 Topps Heritage. I have all base cards, lots of SP's, and other inserts. Since my Heritage set is complete, I am wanting to trade these towards older Topps commons from 1952-1969. Any traders out there? Please let me know!

  • This is the most progress I've made in the first month of collecting Heritage since I started a few years ago. Through three boxes (two hobby and one retail), a few big Ebay purchases, and lots of trading, I'm down to needing 11 base and 16 SP's to get the master set.

    Here's what I need:

    Base: 19, 122, 241, 243, 251, 255, 257, 354, 378, 455, 482.

    SPs: 10, 20b, 23b (blue), 35, 55, 95b (bat), 99, 200b, 315, 332, 344, 347, 350b(blue), 352, 400, 407.

By the way, if anyone else has Cubs or Sox base cards they'd like to trade for extra base cards I have, let me know.

Thanks to all the great traders on the forum!

    MIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice way to end the dry spell. Podres is one of the better in that set. I have three Piersall's, I can send you one if you are doing the set! LOL
Good to see you back on the boards. I heard a rumor...somthing about some beef jerky in the pillow section at kmart.....I guess it wasn't
    true!

    Kevin

  • Sure is better than getting Jim Leyritz which I pulled two of!!

  • Question for the experts. I just got a Johnny Estrada chrome (THC80)...fairly ordinary, numbered 453/1957....EXCEPT the word 'retrofractor' (I think) appears under the number. Anyone seen this variation on this, or other chrome cards?

    Thanx Kevin
I bought 4 blisters - have not checked to see where I'm at yet.

I'm just gonna do the set w/SP's - hopefully.

  • bevans, you might want to double check your numbering, im under the assumption that you have a refractor, and misread the numbering(?)

This may be a dumb question: Sorting Cards

But, does everyone know how to sort cards like the big sellers?

If you just try to sort them in stacks of 10 - you will handle the cards over and over and over.

I learned a way where you only handle the cards THREE times and they're totally sorted.

If anyone is interested I will write it up - with a simple attached diagram.

If this is common knowledge - then sorry about that.

    mike
    Mike
  • Staring at the card right now....it definitely says '0453/1957' and says 'retrofractor' (not 'refractor' as the /557s do).
  • 86nova86nova Posts: 187 ✭✭

Bevans-- Also have an Estrada like the one you referenced. The one I have is #0227 out of 1957. This card was in one of the first boxes I opened, but I really did not pay much attention to it. Looks to me as if the word refractor was stamped twice on the back, one over the top of the other. Perhaps the Estrada was the only one this happened to, but I know exactly what you are talking about. Craig in Ohio
  • Hmm, I havent seen that Bevans, but what I have noticed is that a lot of the initial boxes had a lot of errors. Does the Topps Heritage collector community here consider them part of the set, the wrongbacks?
  • joestalinjoestalin Posts: 12,473 ✭✭
I have an Estrada also that has refractor on it. It looks like that may of been a mistake across the board.

If anyone has an 2003 chromes left here is what I need:

    94-84-65-58-49-47-44-20

Im offering 2 for 1 trades on these either 03 chromes or 06..or whatever you need

    Thanks

My Estrada has the same thing. How about this one - if anyone has a #30 Clemens refractor, you might see that it is stamped /557, but is missing the refractor designation under the card number.

Checked card#30, and mine is the same. Card is #115 out of 557, but has no Refractor designation on the baseball. Craig in Ohio

How about a scan when you get it?

  • Great pulls Kevin! I am now tempted to go buy another box. I bought about 8 blasters and the best card in them was an Arod Clubhouse Collection.

<< <i>Just updated my web page with more 2006 Topps Heritage. I have all base cards, lots of SP's, and other inserts. Since my Heritage set is complete, I am wanting to trade these towards older Topps commons from 1952-1969. Any traders out there? Please let me know!

    Craig in Texas >>

thats prolly not a good trade for whoever has nice vintage commons.......considering the set registry and there value compared to heritage singles....

    Loth
  • For the person wanting to finish off their Heritage sets that has commons lying around then yes it would be a good trade. I have done several trades like this so far. Just had one person trade me 3 1961 Topps commons for an SP to finish off their set. Both of us were very satisfied. I wouldn't consider comparing the values in the set registry to my Heritage cards because the cards I am after are just EX or better -- I am not looking for PSA cards. Thank you for helping my cause....

I was talking with Ryan (lothar) the other night and told him that I was done busting Heritage packs. Yeah, right. That lasted about a week. Picked up a couple blasters at one of our local Targets. Had an interesting break. One pack had three SPs in it, which is the 2nd time I've done that this year - the other time was out of a blaster box too. Both boxes had interesting game used action too. One pack preceding the GU pack yielded a Weeks SP. The next pack yielded a Weeks GU. Next box - one pack yielded an Iguchi SP. You guessed - next pack yielded the Iguchi GU. Weird, huh?

While I'm posting, I might as well put my updated wants & availables list. Thanks in advance for your help.

Not doing the 06 Heritage. Heck I still have to work on the 05.

But, I just saw this from Blowout Cards. Looks like case prices have come down about $40 in the last couple weeks. www.blowoutcards.com

2006 TOPPS HERITAGE BASEBALL 8 bx Cse for $480
    2 Case Lot for $925
    1/2 Case Lot for $250
2006 TOPPS HERITAGE BASEBALL RETAIL 8 bx Case for $450 (Retail is almost Identical to Hobby)
    2 Case Lot for $875

  • I saw that too. I guess blowoutcards rides the supply and demand on these cards pretty hard. I bought my cases for my customers from blowoutcards at $480 in January, but I know blowoutcards was charging $600 on March 1st...
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

Yes It looks like topps print run is catching up with suppliers, of course they got greedy when it came out and it went up. I hope some
dealers who bought this stuff for 80 a box and marked it 120, get stuck with it.

I also thing that collectors just go the retail route after a while, especially if hobby isn't pulling great, like it did this year. I think I have
    seen better cards from retail.

  • I agree, JS. The retail packs gave me three of my four game used and the only Real One Auto came from retail as well.
