I got approval for another bulk submission. Cuts/cards/index cards can be authenticated and encapsulated through PSA's blue flip authentic service for $11.25 a piece. We got approval for a declared value of $250 which I've found usually allows us to do any signature that is a $100 authentication fee or lower. I was again told this will be a one-time courtesy to us because of the two successful ones we did in 2013. If you are interested in signing up please post in my thread below. There are lots of members of this thread that take part in the submissions, and I'm sure would be happy to add their referral if you have questions.
It just started snowing here in Indy. They are calling for 10+ inches today and it's sent people into a frenzy! lol
After nearly 5 years of searching, I added this to my 55 Topps autograph set in November. Being a Purdue guy, I was extremely happy to finally find this card signed!!!
Go figure, 2 weeks later this shows up on eBay and ends for 7X (SMH) less the price I paid. I picked it up as a duplicate to be safe! The signature isn't as nice, but I couldn't pass it up.

Reese - do you know the story of this guy? This is Jim Carter, he played football at Purdue and along with Duane Purvis, formed the "Touchdown Twins." I had the pleasure of interviewing Mr. Carter for an article a couple of years ago before he passed away. I stayed in regular contact with him until his death at the age of 100! Terrific guy, greatly miss talking to him.

Outstanding article! I haven't read anything about Jim Carter prior to today. In all honesty, I had a tremendously difficult time finding information on Purvis. His Wiki page is fairly vague and most of the articles pertaining to him focused more on the hamburger named after him at the XXX in West Lafayette!

No new additions yet either. Still trying to get down to 9. I keep hoping one of the Curley Culp black friday autos shows up at a real price instead of so inflated. Plus now waiting on the new class.
Hope everyone had a great holiday and new year. At least I won a contest on another forum that gave me $500 to put towards a new HOF auto.
They just added a couple other Buckeyes to the list. Carlos Hyde $25 on Sunday TBD, Ryan Shazier $20 11-1Pm, and Kenny Guiton $10 TBD, Saturday 3-5Pm Shazier, and Corey Brown (Philly Brown) $10. I can't go but I'm giving Rocke a book to get a couple from Sunday, I need more of the Saturday crowd.
The website doesn't say how many are there it does say they are from Michigan, PA, Ohio and St. Louis. Another website and address list you might want to get on is www.stlsportscollectors.com. They have shows every month with mostly all St. Louis autograph guests. They are exclusive with Roger Wehrli and Orlando Cepeda. They have a lot of baseball players and others at there shows but they do mail order. They have Wehrli this week and cards are only $5. Not bad for a HOFer.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Clean Sweep Auctions called out by one of our posters (who is a poker king) for continually re-listing the same GLA card signed by Alex Wojciechowicz? Apparently another Wojo has been listed and it looks to be the same one. Has any one else seen this? Am I missing something here? How ironic if the original poster, who may have been legally threatened, was correct all along!
Apparently ROCKE SWEANEY has put his foot in his mouth one too may times. He got threatened by a lawsuit from the Auction House and since than has apologized from his ignorant comments. This is what happens when a self proclaimed football expert blogs about his opinion.

Everyone, I want to apologize to the owner of clean sweep auctions for my post from a year or two ago concerning the six or seven autographed Alex Wojciechowicz Goal Line Art cards that have been auctioned off on that auction site. I have been informed by the owner of that site that he has proof that every one of those six or seven cards that he auctioned off were a different card and that he has proof that they were, in fact, not the same card, as I mistakenly thought. As he said, I should have checked with him first. I am sorry, and I promise not to publicly comment on any future Alex Wojciechowicz GLA card that may appear on that site in the future. To ALL of my many friends on this site, I am sorry about my comments, and if you wish to say anything negative about that post, or have any comments about what I did, PLEASE do so in a PRIVATE MESSAGE.
Again, I apologize to clean sweep auctions and anyone I have offended.
"self proclaimed football expert" Rocke is one of the good guys here on the forum, contributes immensely and just because of a mistake that he even apologized for your bashing him. I don't know who you are but if you have a problem with what he did message him. You have made just 3 posts here on our forum, and surely a great way to get respect from collectors who collect the same thing you do is to bash them for a mistake or maybe even not a mistake made months ago. He's been a collector for over 30 years in that time people make a mistake every now and then but if you think Rocke who was just trying to keep everyone aware of something that seemed a little bit out of the ordinary is ignorant your barking up the wrong tree. We give opinions on whats good and bad it's just what we do, for you to just come in here and badmouth a serious collector, friend, and a serious asset to the hobby of autograph collecting is just wrong. No peace and love from you apparently, I honestly pity you sir for burning a large chunk of bridges you hadn't even built up.

The "threat of a lawsuit" is the key phrase there - not someone coming onto the forum and countering what was said and giving evidence to prove their point but threatening with a lawsuit. It seems to me that in a hobby where people are being arrested at national conventions and indicted in federal court a bit of healthy skepticism is better met with evidence than with a lawsuit.
Plus it's not as if Rocke's concern was unjustified either. He wasn't the only one questioning the Alex Wojo GLA in the hobby - he was just the one that expressed his opinion on THIS OPEN FORUM. His conerns were (are) justified and his remarks were not deragatory in nature - he had (has) legitimate concerns and came here seeking opinions. But again other collectors have the same concern about not only Alex Wojo GLA cards, but Bill Hewitt check(s) this same auction house has offered on numerous occassions.

Why is a New Member trash talking about a respected senior member??? We can all give our opinion here, but everybody in this forum knows Rocke, we all now who he is, I think nothing that anyone says here is going to change our opinion about him, I mean a lot of us have been invited to know him personally, some have even been at his house, we all know great pieces of his collection. We ALL make mistakes, is a gentleman's act to accept it and to apologize!!!
I think we all respect each other here, and we all certainly have a lot in common, as we all now even COA's or LOA's are not a proof, you can only be 100% sure that something is authentic if you saw the person actually signing it.
So we all ask for second opinions here, this is part of the reasons of this Forum.
I made a sweet deal with Sweep Clean Auctions a couple of months ago, I am very happy with my purchase!!!!
But we all know that all auction houses, and all autograph dealers have had some kind of troubles with some items. We have shown how PSA or JSA have been sometimes mistaken, we all know about MASTRO, we have seen lot of things have been authenticated and finally proven wrong, so it is all part of the Hobby.
So I can say my experience with Clean Sweep Auctions was really great!!!
An everything I can say about Rocke are positive things, he may not be an authenticator, but he knows what he is talking about even if sometimes "as he accepted" can make mistakes. He is a great person who has a great collection and a lot of friends here to support him, so I think you are in the wrong forum to talk bad about Rocke.
Who is this Peace and love person???? We all are on here just about everyday and out of the blue, some yoyo comes on bad mouthing a member. I've known Rocke for quite sometime and personally. W life pretty close to each other. I'm wondering if this new person isn't someone who might be from said auction house to try and slam him. He definitely came to wrong place, it wouldn't surprise me if he never shows up again. I just think his handle is a little funny and the first thing he talks about is wanting to buy a Luckman GLA yet he doesn't direct the offer to purchase to anyone member. I would think he would send a PM to the person his msg was intended for as to the purchase of the Luckman.
In addition to to all the good an true things said here about Rocke. ALL of which I will attest to: His informed opinions based on decades of of collecting , a little insider access to aspects of collecting via his shows in and and around Canton itself, and MOST of all his absolute willingness to befriend and share this with his fellow collectors on this forum is beyond reproach ! As much as anything this is a primary reason this forum is unique and I feel fortunate to be a member. There is a wealth of information available here through many members that simply can't be found elsewhere. If you want to discuss the attributes of a 1992 Gameday Barry Sanders signature , well, whatever. If you want to talk about a 1935 Portsmouth Spartans team signed sheet with Dutch Clark well, here is where you want to be . The members here have mostly been around together for years and offer continuous information and rare examples for all on the board. Collectors for collectings sake. Supportive. No petty sniping or trolling . Until very recently it seems. Also, I read the post where Rocke apologized, said he was mistaken and asked that any comments be directed privately. I'm certain that this had less to do with being called out in public for the Wojie opinions than it had to do with just this snipey BS ! Months later. Geez. For the record: If I saw an auction house offering several Wojie GLA's continuously the 1st thing I would do is bring it to this board an see what some people had to say. Skepticism was the word Mike used. Good word . Lastly I am certain Rocke wouldn't feel the need to be defended by other members for his words or actions, he's a grown man who can take care of himself fine. However the character I have come to know I will absolutely defend. I am certain I'm not alone.
"Peace and Love"? Maybe "Hate and Jealously" is more appropriate........ I'm PROUD to call Rocke my friend! There isn't a person on this board he hasn't helped to advance their collection. He is generous with his time and has the determination to learn everything he can about FB signatures. Plus, he readily shares what he learns with us. If this is the same Wojo listed again, then Rocke WAS RIGHT for pointing this out and owes NO ONE an apology. In fact, he is the one due an apology!
Wow. I am at work today, and my cell phone is ready to explode from all of the text messages I got concerning this thread today. I had ZERO idea what was being written until I got home, as I still have an antiquated "Flip-phone" and not a "Smart" phone. If you don't mind indulging me, I think I will make a few separate posts to address a couple of different points that people have made. Hey guys, interesting time to be putting up my first post here on the site, but let me provide a little insight to my experience with some of the collectors on this thread. I came to the HOF last year for the first time & met Rocke & Joe at the mall. This was all 100% new to me. The amount of information and guidance about my collection and the hobby Rocke freely gave was way beyond helpful. I enjoyed listening to their interaction with friends and customers that came by his booth at the show. He invited me over to his house to see some of his collection as well as a very unique photo collection featuring his son with HOFers.
These guys are passionate about their hobby. They freely share their insight that has come with years in the hobby. That being said, when I read the comments by one poster that wanted to character attack these people, I knew the he was nuts........
Anyway, after some technical issues kept me off this post for awhile, I will enjoy reading & now commenting. Trying to finish out my GLA set.....I need Wojo, Rozelle, & Al Davis.........Anyone that can help me on this quest would be appreciated.......

Apparently ROCKE SWEANEY has put his foot in his mouth one too may times. He got threatened by a lawsuit from the Auction House and since than has apologized from his ignorant comments. This is what happens when a self proclaimed football expert blogs about his opinion.

Everyone, I want to apologize to the owner of clean sweep auctions for my post from a year or two ago concerning the six or seven autographed Alex Wojciechowicz Goal Line Art cards that have been auctioned off on that auction site. I have been informed by the owner of that site that he has proof that every one of those six or seven cards that he auctioned off were a different card and that he has proof that they were, in fact, not the same card, as I mistakenly thought. As he said, I should have checked with him first. I am sorry, and I promise not to publicly comment on any future Alex Wojciechowicz GLA card that may appear on that site in the future. To ALL of my many friends on this site, I am sorry about my comments, and if you wish to say anything negative about that post, or have any comments about what I did, PLEASE do so in a PRIVATE MESSAGE.
Again, I apologize to clean sweep auctions and anyone I have offended.

The "threat of a lawsuit" is the key phrase there - not someone coming onto the forum and countering what was said and giving evidence to prove their point but threatening with a lawsuit. It seems to me that in a hobby where people are being arrested at national conventions and indicted in federal court a bit of healthy skepticism is better met with evidence than with a lawsuit.

We can all give our opinion here, but everybody in this forum knows Rocke, we all now who he is, I think nothing that anyone says here is going to change our opinion about him, I mean a lot of us have been invited to know him personally, some have even been at his house, we all know great pieces of his collection.
We ALL make mistakes, is a gentleman's act to accept it and to apologize!!!
I think we all respect each other here, and we all certainly have a lot in common, as we all now even COA's or LOA's are not a proof, you can only be 100% sure that something is authentic if you saw the person actually signing it.
So we all ask for second opinions here, this is part of the reasons of this Forum.
I made a sweet deal with Sweep Clean Auctions a couple of months ago, I am very happy with my purchase!!!!
But we all know that all auction houses, and all autograph dealers have had some kind of troubles with some items.
We have shown how PSA or JSA have been sometimes mistaken, we all know about MASTRO, we have seen lot of things have been authenticated and finally proven wrong, so it is all part of the Hobby.
So I can say my experience with Clean Sweep Auctions was really great!!!
An everything I can say about Rocke are positive things, he may not be an authenticator, but he knows what he is talking about even if sometimes "as he accepted" can make mistakes. He is a great person who has a great collection and a lot of friends here to support him, so I think you are in the wrong forum to talk bad about Rocke.
As much as anything this is a primary reason this forum is unique and I feel fortunate to be a member. There is a wealth of information available here through many members that simply can't be found elsewhere.
If you want to discuss the attributes of a 1992 Gameday Barry Sanders signature , well, whatever.
If you want to talk about a 1935 Portsmouth Spartans team signed sheet with Dutch Clark well, here is where you want to be .
The members here have mostly been around together for years and offer continuous information and rare examples for all on the board. Collectors for collectings sake. Supportive. No petty sniping or trolling .
Until very recently it seems.
Also, I read the post where Rocke apologized, said he was mistaken and asked that any comments be directed privately. I'm certain that this had less to do with being called out in public for the Wojie opinions than it had to do with just this snipey BS !
Months later. Geez.
For the record: If I saw an auction house offering several Wojie GLA's continuously the 1st thing I would do is bring it to this board an see what some people had to say. Skepticism was the word Mike used. Good word .
Lastly I am certain Rocke wouldn't feel the need to be defended by other members for his words or actions, he's a grown man who can take care of himself fine. However the character I have come to know I will absolutely defend.
I am certain I'm not alone.
Of course Rocke can defend himself!!!
But we all like to be supported.
So all my support to Rocke too!!!

Besides all gold seal Sid Luckman were signed by his wife.
Prove me wrong an show me an authenticated PSA example of a gold seal Luckman.
These guys are passionate about their hobby. They freely share their insight that has come with years in the hobby. That being said, when I read the comments by one poster that wanted to character attack these people, I knew the he was nuts........
Anyway, after some technical issues kept me off this post for awhile, I will enjoy reading & now commenting. Trying to finish out my GLA set.....I need Wojo, Rozelle, & Al Davis.........Anyone that can help me on this quest would be appreciated.......
