On another message board they are talking about signings that will be taking place over induction weekend in Canton at a place called Belden Village. According to the posters there are some pretty good mid-tier HOFers who will be signing. They said that the promoters will not be accepting mail-in. Deacon Jones is one of the signers and I would like to get him on a Rams FS helmet. Is anyone on the board going to be going to this signing who could get the helmet signed for me? I would make it worth your effort. Let me know, thanks, Tim

    Tim.
Look no further. I live in Canton, and I will be set up as a dealer during Hall of Fame week at Belden Village Mall. I will PM you my address. I don't knowwho all is going to be at the Mall, but I have heard that Youngblood, Yary and Leroy Kelly are all for sure. I am sure a few others will be added.

There is no website for the show. The guy who puts on the show is a local cardstore owner / autograph dealer. He does not have a website. I can update everyone as far as who is signing at the mall and the prices. Last year I got about a dozen cards autographed for Greg. I also was able to take a picture of each Hall of Famer signing EVERY card that he sent me. The show at the mall will be Fri.- Sat. - Sun. August 6 - 7 - 8. I also wanted to Thank Greg again, for buying me TWO Ozzie Newsome autographs for getting his cards signed last year. I am glad I was such a help !!!

    Rocke,

You were a HUGE help getting those cards signed for me last year. Thanks for the info - is Jeff Whitmore the show promoter?

  • No, he is not the promoter, but I am sure that he will be set up as a dealer. The show is actually co-produced by a guy I don't know well named Tom, and the guy that I am good friends with named Jim Tozzi. The local store that he has is called Sports Archives.

    Rocke,
Thanks for the offer, I'll definately take you up on it. According to Jeff Whitmore posting on Signings Hotline the following players are scheduled to be at Belden: Dwight Stephenson, Jim Otto, Bob St. Clair, Mel Renfro, Larry Wilson, Ted Hendricks, Mike Haynes, Deacon Jones, Fred Dean, Ken Houston, Jackie Smith, Tommy McDonald. Haven't heard any discussion of prices.

    Tim,

I just e-mailed Jeff Whitmore asking for a price list. I'll post it here once received. For anyone not familiar with Jeff, his prices are generally very reasonable. Also, he typically runs specials for autographed cards which are very reasonable. Last year, his price was around $8 per card for several HOFers (Elvin Bethea and Jack Youngblood were two off the top of my head).

    Greg,
Thanks, Jeff is one of the best in the business. He got me hooked on Goal Lines many years ago. I kicked the Goal Line habit a few years ago, but I still credit Jeff with getting me more in to Football than Baseball.

  • Not a lot of time left, but in case anybody sees this in time, there is a Jack Lummus autograph on Ebay right now. Ends in less than two hours. Good Luck.

  • I have been doing pretty good. I assume you still read the thread, so you know what little I've been up to collecting wise. I DO have a good update though. This coming Saturday night, I will get to pick-up John Hannah at the airport for Jane's show. This will only be the 4th " pick-up " I've gotten to do. After the signing on Sunday, I will have a couple of hours with him, so I'm sure it will be out to eat somewhere, then to the airport. Looking very forward to it. Will write an update Sunday night !!!

    Jim,

Nice listing of autographs for sale. I know a few on here are looking for Letlow.

Don't know if you still need Ed Franco, but Rich Altman from Hollywood Collectibles has a signed 3x5 for $150.

    All the best

Thanks. I have known for almost 2 weeks now about it. I hope it will generate some leads on the tickets that I am missing. I have to rewrite my blurb today and update that so if anyone checks out the set and has a ticket for me they can get ahold of me.

Though I am happy I was hoping for another win as well, that being the HOF Auto Card Set.. But they say that they are looking for 100% completion which will almost never allow this set to win. Which is a darn shame as to how hard this set is to get to even 95%. There are only two other cards out there that PSA has graded that I could have in this set. Those being Len Ford and Dan Reeves.

    Jay,

<<But they say that they are looking for 100% completion which will almost never allow this set to win.>>

That's retarded - I thought the baseball auto'd set, which won the top overall autographed set award last year, was at 95% ish completion?

    Greg,

If you read the blurb about my set in the awards section that is what they said. They tend to make awards to 100% complete sets.

Doesn't ebay pull the auction when it comes back "unlikely genuine?" Having not seen very many Keisling signatures, what are the chances that it's legit?

Same here - I just received back a "Likely not Genuine" opinion from PSA/DNA. I don't have any Kiesling exemplars - does anyone else?

CJ listed a Dan Reeves signed 1959 Topps team card last year that was also deemed "Likely not genuine" by PSA/DNA.

Wow - I didn't see either of those auto'd cards. Did you request a quick opinion on either auto'd card?

I just received notification from e-bay that the Kiesling auction was pulled.

I just received an e-mail from CJ and he claims that he sold the Kiesling. Did anyone here buy it? Did anyone save a picture of it?

wasnt me. i got the same email from him as well. in all honesty that sig didnt look too bad from one that i had found from an auction house posting on-line. sometimes i wonder if psa/dna just doesnt question the sig based on what it is on. i mean to be honest what are the odds that anyone would have had a coach sign a team card back in the day. more than likely they would have had them sign a program, index card etc.

  • I just dont get why people think UKredskins stuff is good.. He has all of the hardest deceased players selling them over and over and all the top stars. People always defend him but come on...

CJ has sold at least 3 signed 1955 Topps AA Turk Edwards cards. None of the top dealers combined that I've talked with have ever seen or sold one....besides the 3 that CJ sold. Also, over the past several years, CJ has sold a 1952 Bowman Steve Owen, 1962 Topps Ernie Davis, 1969 Topps Brian Piccolo, several Dan Reeves signed cards, a Walt Kiesling signed card, a George Preston Marshall signed card, 1955 Topps AA Bruce Smith, Davey O'Brien, Tom Harmon, ect.... the list goes on. Either he hit the mother load of vintage football auto'd cards or he is forging or someone else is feeding him bad autographs. What's maddening about him is that inter-mixed with the questionable cards are loads of legit auto'd cards.

  • Just because someone has a legit Chuck Bednarik, Gino Marchetti, Larry Little and the numerous players who sign all you could ever want TTM for free, doesn't make the other rare autos authentic. People see the ones they are familiar with and just figure that the other deceased players must be good. But come on, this guy doesnt even live in the US and he says he gets these from collections he buys / trades? Where is he buying these collections from? We all have been in this hobby/buisness for years and I have never seen a collection for sale with that many rare deceased players. Yet he is able to sell Montanas, Marinos, Walter Paytons in auctions for no reserve at low prices. I wonder how he could do that? I just wish people would stop defending him saying on all the message boards that he is a great seller of authentic autographs. I also just took a look at his auctions and noticed that he doesnt have near as many listings as normal. Did he take most of the bad ones down or did EBAY end them?

All that I can say is that I have bought items from him that have both passed and failed PSA/DNA. The ones that have failed, though big name current players, I havent done anything about as I paid relatively little for them. Just because he lives in the UK doesnt mean that he still couldnt be making buys through others over here. The world isnt as big as it once appeared to be.

Most of us around here would question almost any Reeves, Kiesling, Marshall or even Allen auto'd card that pops up on Ebay. Why...well we all know how hard they are to come by.
