Thanks, Jack Wallin and I have been wrestling over a price on that one for like a year now:}. He started at $180 if I remember correctly, dropped it to $125 after like 6 months, and then I guess just recently listed it at $112. I believe I offered him $90 about a year ago, but he indicated it was too rare to sell at that price. Thanks for the heads-up though....everyone on this forum is tremendously helpful in the pursuit.

No problem. I bought most of my 1977 TD set from Jack, however I bought the Hunk Anderson from Phil Marks. He had a nice one 2 or 3 years ago...and I may have even paid a hair less..somewhere b/t $90 and $100. Jack has started raising some of his prices as he runs out of cards. At one point, he had hundreds of mostly complete sets of 1975 Fleer IR and 1977 TD, but as he runs out of the tougher cards he has been raising his prices. I paid around $250 or $300 for my Benny Friedman (~ 4 years ago) but now Jack charges around $500 I think...

Hello All, This is off of the autograph topic, but certainly has to do with The Hall of Fame. Fifty years ago today, there was an article in the local newspaper ( The Canton Repository ) that had the headline, " Pro Football needs Hall of Fame, and the logical site is Here ". The sportswriter that wrote that article is now living in Florida. Big article in todays paper about that article and how and when things happened to cause the Hall to be built here. Mr. Chamberlin did in fact right 1964 instead of 1965. It was the first thing I noticed with it, but the signature looks solid and it was likely signed in the last 12-16 months of his life so I was chalking it up to a "senior moment" as my grandmother called it. Think I should be concerned? I could put up a larger scan if it would help.

Uuuuugggghh! I have been trying to get him to sign a large and really nice black and white photo of the Immaculate Reception that my wife bought me last Christmas for almost a year now. My wife's family knows Franco (he attended her parents wedding and does appearances at their amusement park in PA called "Del Grossos") and have been trying to contact his agent I believe but no luck so far working out the details. Well, have fun and I hope you get some nice sigs!
I need everyone's opinion on this. I won this Len Ford signed 55 Bowman card. After the auction, my quick opinion request came back as "likely not genuine." I haven't paid for it yet, but what do you guys think?
I saw that Ford and compared it to some other examples and it seemed pretty off. I was thinking about bidding at first, but after I compared it I didn't. The same guy also had some other autographs that didn't look real to me. A Jim Finks of his ended recently that looked off.

my PSA/DNA quick came back likely not real. doesnt look like greg's at all with the L or F. Also doesnt look like the Browns signed piece that has been up on ebay for awhile which looks much more like greg's. i bid early but stopped after 100. wasnt going to drop 125+ on a card/auto that probably isnt going to pass. as PSA/DNA says by quick opinon if it fails the likely hood that it passes is low.

Just picked up my latest acquisition - a signed 3x5 bio card of Lennie Ford. Got it for $475. Considering the other one in my collection, (purchased about 7 years ago), cost $800, I thought this was a pretty good deal. Nice ink signature and it includes the teams and years he played. Actually, it is almost identical to the one I already own. Should have it in my possession in about 7-10 days (but have seen a scan of it). He's sort of tough to find on an index card.
With a little help from my friends (thanks Rocke!) I was able to pick up this letter - the stationary and the signature are nice, but I also like the content - sent from Harry March to Walter Farquehar, sports editor of the Pottsville paper - it's amazing that someone saved this all these years and that it ended up in my hands!
I just wanted to wish all of you a very happy holiday season as another year goes by. I have enjoyed reading all of the posts and gathering information about the hobby. Zack and I have met a few of you and made several friends. There isn't a whole lot of progress to report due to the fact that Zack is down to a few of the hardest guys. He has however aquired a championship ring presented to the members of the Pottsville Maroons. It is inscribed to Joe Zacko, who was the equipment or uniform supplier for the team. It is a cool piece of history. Anyhow, Happy Holidays from the soon to be snow covered land of the Amish. Here's wishing you all continued success in 2010. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
I got lucky and got Lynn Swann at a golf event recently - I had no idea he would be there, so didn't bring anything with me especially for him. I got him on an index card and on my ticket (he shares the ticket with former NBA star Vinnie Johnson and musician Kenny G).
I picked up a Bill Hewitt and Bert Bell JSA authenticated signed check on e-bay about a month ago for a very good price. The auction ended during the time that e-bay had that service interuption.
If I have to pick just one I am going to say Russ Letlow. George Christensen, Lavern Dilweg, and Bill Edwards are high on my list also since I really want to finish my NFL All-Decade collection.
I believe Letlow is the only one I still need for the all decade team members (only seen one of his signs and that was on a team signed item several years back). But, I would say the number one pro sig I would want is Duke Slater. For College, it would probably be John Wilce, College HOF Coach for Ohio State long ago!
There was one Letlow signed program on E-bay this year that I let slip through my fingers. Did not see another autograph of his all year. Maybe I will get lucky this year:}.
As we approach the New Year, I was curious.... What is the ONE autograph you hope to acquire next year (tough to narrow down to just one)?

Great question. I would love to find a signed 1952 Bowman Large or Small Steve Owen. There are 5 or 6 others that aren't far behind on my want list, however that one is my current white whale.

Just found out today that Franco Harris is doing a FREE autograph session here in Canton on Thursday from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM and then ANOTHER FREE autograph session from 2:00 PM -4:00 PM. I am planning on hitting them both and getting a bunch. YEEEE HAAAAWWWW.

Uuuuugggghh! I have been trying to get him to sign a large and really nice black and white photo of the Immaculate Reception that my wife bought me last Christmas for almost a year now. My wife's family knows Franco (he attended her parents wedding and does appearances at their amusement park in PA called "Del Grossos") and have been trying to contact his agent I believe but no luck so far working out the details. I was able to pick up this letter - the stationary and the signature are nice, but I also like the content - sent from Harry March to Walter Farquehar, sports editor of the Pottsville paper - it's amazing that someone saved this all these years and that it ended up in my hands!

Mine is Duke Slater.
If I have to pick just one I am going to say Russ Letlow. George Christensen, Lavern Dilweg, and Bill Edwards are high on my list also since I really want to finish my NFL All-Decade collection.

Great question. I would love to find a signed 1952 Bowman Large or Small Steve Owen. There are 5 or 6 others that aren't far behind on my want list, however that one is my current white whale.
