For those looking, there is a Fritz Pollard index card now on ebay, with a starting bid of $1700. Also, there is a Steve Owen (Coach)/Tuffy Leemans cut coming up in one of the weekly Heritage Auctions in a couple of weeks.
Did you notice the seller has a feedback rating of (2). They have the Pollard and a Thorpe signed "Fabulous Redmen" that has been in several other auctions recently and a Chamberlain, a Walter Camp, and several other great HOFers. I think I saw the Chamberlin in another auction recently as well as the Thorpe. One of the feedback is for a Rockne auto on ND letterhead - is this a seller anyone knows?
Thanks to Rod for sending it to me, and to Reese for posting it for me. I thought it was pretty interesting, and hope that you all do as well. I am seriously considering having the four of them sign a couple of 3 x 5 cards for me at The National !!!!! Rocke

I don't know the seller, however his story makes sense. The Pollard autograph is definitely from the John Smith collection, which John Burk purchased from Lew Lipset several years ago. Burk operates Collectible Classics Auctions. The Chamberlain also looks to be from the same collection.
Still think the price is too high for a Pollard. A nice one sold on Hunt for under $500. I think his autograph is in the $600-800 range, now that more are seeing the light of day.
Hello All, Well, here goes. I said a few days ago that I had something in the works. A couple of weeks ago, ( after I got the Heisman Cut 1 / 1 error card ) in the mail, I called TuffStuff Magazine, and I got connected to the EDITOR, Scott Fragale. I talked to him for about 30-40 minutes. I called him to tell him about the card. He told me they definitely would be interested in doing a story on the card. I am supposed to bring it by their booth. No problem. Then I said, " by the way, there are going to be a few of us meeting up at The National that need 6 or fewer autographs to have all of the Pro Football Hall of Famers. That I know of, Bill Brown(zack's dad ), Rod Winzinek, Bart ( bdbop ), Bill Heinen ( lives in Sheboygan, Wisconsin ) and myself. I told him that we would all bring 3 or 4 of our best items. I asked him if he would be interested in taking some pictures of our best autographs and doing a story on us and our " quest " to collect all of them. He was as enthusiastic about doing that story as he sounded about doing a story on the Steve Owen card. Reese, I know you are still at 7, but I'm sure that we can get you added into the story. Scott and Ken, I really have no idea what # you guys are at. But , if you guys are in the single digit area, We would hope that you would want to be a part of this. Hello Greg, I am talking about the DonRuss error card from the Heisman Trophy Cuts from 2008 set. They made a card that is SUPPOSED to have an autograph of Oklahoma U. running back and 1969 Heisman Trophy winner Steve OWENS, BUT , the autograph is instead, NFL Hall of Fame coach Steve OWEN of the New York Giants. You posted that you had offered the seller $1,000.00 to pull the card when he had it listed with an opening bid of either 2,500.00 or 3,500.00. He listed it , I think 6 times. The last time, the opening bid was .99 and I won it with a bid of 456.00 The card is numbered on the back 1 /1. So they only made ONE card, and it is an ERROR card. Remember ? Rocke

Just an FYI on the seller of the Pollard for everyone here. That is the person I bought the signed 1952 Bowman Small Steve Owen signed card about a year or so ago. After the card failed to pass PSA/DNA inspection, I emailed this seller and he agreed to refund my money. I mailed the card back and after about a week get a response that he can't refund me for another week. Another week passes, I email him again and this time he says it's actually going to be two more weeks for my refund. Eventually he stopped returning my emails even though he had the card and my money. I had to get my credit card company involved and it took about 6 months to get everything worked out. I figured I would give everyone a heads up before the decide to business with seller. He was under a different user name, but it's definitely the same person.

Sounds exciting, hope it works out for you guys with the article at the National. I have 90% of the HOFers currently, missing 25 exactly. I am hoping that I leave the National with only 20 left on my list. Unfortunately, I don't focus enough and have picked up about 20-25% of the College HOFers also:}. Anyways, I would still like to meet the group so I will stop by around the sametime to say hi and hopefully meet some of the board members in person. Less than a week now until showtime!
I have a collection of College Football HOF'ers as well. I have about 37%, which is 381 of 1,035 (123 are deceased). I have 96 of the top 100 oldest living CF Hofers'. Missing only Frank Gifford (believe it or not), Don Coryell, Doug Dickey and Roger Harring. My goal is 50% or so....after that, it gets really tough and expensive.

As I thought, the other three Balt. Colts have been added. I am not positive on the prices. I was told that the TENTATIVE prices are :
Ray Berry , 30 all items
Gino Marchetti , 20 all items
Lenny Moore , 20 all items.
I am soooooooo looking forward to the next two weeks.

Hello Frank,
The Lambeau Ebay item # is 120452571840. I just listed it and I already have 4 people watching it! I still don't know how to do that "link" thing. The Bert Bell check that I have listed is the first item that I have ever listed by myself !!!!! I am trying to learn !!! I am going to try to list one of those Browns 1964 Champion certificates later on.

Jim,
Attached is a scan of the Don Coryall auto in my collection. I picked this up on E-bay ungraded for c. $25 dlvd. As you know, Coryall rarely signs in public and doesn't respond to TTM requests. I was thrilled to have found this one...

Good Luck. I'll be watching it too.
I saw that and the other one that was for sale. I think both were $25. The one you purchased was the nicer of the two.

The other one was slightly smeared if I remember correctly. I'm glad to have it in my collection! What type of autographed item of Coryall are you looking for?

Tried to PM, but you don't have them turned on. I'll be at the National all week and would love to meet up. I'll try to make one of your rendezvous times at RG's table. Otherwise, if you have Jasen's number, he has my number.
Anyone wanting to reach me can also email me at: otwcards@aol.com and I'll get it on my BlackBerry.

<< <i>Wow Jay! Congrats on the Driscoll. My snipe was set at $776. >>
Holy cr*p...I didn't know a Driscoll cut existed. I think that Jay robbed a bank and left the country...which would explain why he was bidding on the Lambeau card from Oxford, England.
Nice pickup Jay. It looks like my 3 year run as top dog will shortly come to an end at the rate Jay is going....

Greg,
Well i didnt rob a bank. But i did get a VA career development award 3 months ago that has now doubled my income!!!
But robbing a bank would have made for a better story, especially since right now i am in the swiss alps. All of that money could be in a private swiss bank account by now.

Hey Greg!
Just a heads-up that I sent Mr. Ralph Wilson Jr. a GLA to sign last Tuesday and received it back signed today. Nice return in less than a week. The signature is a bit shaky, but he added HOF '09. Nice to see Mr. Wilson signing again and hopefully in decent health.

If you do happen to die while in the Swiss Alps, at least I would inherit your HOF auto'd cards...right?? I love to profit from the tragedy of others...
Congrats on your VA career development award! Did you receive your doctorate yet? I can't remember where you are in the process (if not finished).
I was in the Swiss Alps c. 10 years ago. My dad and I stayed in Zurich for 4 days and took side trips to Lucerne and Mount Titlis...which was absolutely amazing. We took 3 series of ski-lifts to nearly 11,000 feet and ate lunch at the highest point in central Switzerland.
What cities are you visiting and are you there for business or pleasure?

Ken,
That was going to be tatict as well. As a Packer fan I have a lot of respect for the Bills and their fans. The two small market teams in the NFL and nearly all of sports.
When I get back I will send him my card for an attempt. Its from a hockey set of the outdoor winter classic from two years ago.
